ā--------------------------------------------- SHOW OPEN ā---------------------------------------------
{ Heart of a Champion by Hollywood Undead plays as we are brought the opening intro to IWF Odyssey! The camera pans around the jam packed arena and the screaming fans before we get a shot of the commentary booth Rayne and Iyo Kenshin!}
Iyo Kenshin: Welcome everybody to another episode of Odyssey, we have an amazing show in store for your this evening!
Rayne: Word is we are gonna see live Roberto Verona chew the rest of staff's asses out.
Iyo Kenshin: But more importantly we have debuts of Dixie Waters and J-TV himself.
Rayne: We also get the cluster fuck of a multi level tag match with two spots for the Iron Maiden on the line. Plus the main event where Dean Harper promised no mercy.
ā--------------------------------------------- SEGMENT A Date with Destiny ā---------------------------------------------
{As the starting guitar riffs of āTit For Tatā hit, Charlotte Shimizu appears at the top of the ramp, her arms raised high over her head to the accolades of her home state. She makes her way slowly down the ramp, drinking in the cheers and offering high-fives to those nearest her.}
{Standing in the center of the ring, mic in her hand and a grin broad enough to split her face. She raises the mic towards her mouth, making the crowd subside slowly. She waits only a few moments before she lets loose.}
āHelloooooooooo OKC! Yāall ready for a Date with Destiny?!ā
{Charlie waits with a smile on her face for the responding cheers to die down before going on.}
āI know Iām not one of the big starsā¦ Yāall probably wanna see someone higher up the food chain than me-ā
{The crowd seems to disagree with a loud chanting of her name}
āHey nowā¦ Itās okay. I know what I am. Yāall havenāt seen me shy away from that once and I aināt about to start now. Iām not a headliner like any of the champions or the very clear contenders for their titlesā¦ But I am the Breakout Star of 2000 Plus 23 and honey, Iām HOOOOOOOOOME!ā
{Charlotte throws her arms out as she finishes, seeming to soak in the cheers, her shoulders shaking and chest heaving with hard breathes as she stares up into the lights. Her picture, relayed by cameras to the overhead screens show her eyes and cheeks shining wetly.}
{As the cheers fade, Charlotte gives herself a little shake and brings the mic back to her face.}
āSo I had to come out and tell yāall how much it means to me to be standing here, in front of all yāall, finally back in my home state. It truly is the best thing ever, but I donāt wanna bore yāall when we got a great show for ya just waitinā for me to shut my trap already. Lucky for yāall, Iām a girl of few words. So Iāll be seeinā yāall later when me and April Madrox leave half the womensā division choking on our dust to earn our spots in the Iron Maiden! Now buckle up buttercups, ācause this ride has-ā
{The crowd roars to finish her tagline: āNO D*MNED BRAKES!!!ā}
{As her music begins playing again, she clasps her hands at her chest and bows to all sides from the center of the ring before making her way backstage, stopping often for high-fives, fist-bumps and maybe a quick photo or two.}
ā--------------------------------------------- SINGLES MATCH 1500 Word Limit Dixie Wrecks vs. Billie Parris ā---------------------------------------------
{ With Billie Parris waiting in rhe ring, "Boot Scoot Boogie" plays and the fans greet her with various degrees of reaction. She hams it up with some fans as she heads to the ring and once at the steps she shotguns a beer and hops into the ring. }
Iyo Kenshin: Odyssey is live and on the air, and we've got ourselves yet another debut match for the women's division!
Rayne: Don't let that Brooks and Dunn tune fool ya, Dixie Wrecks ain't no sweet country gal!
{ As per custom with debut matches like this, we find James Gilmore in the booth with Iyo and Rayne. Tonight, he's wearing a charcoal gray business suit but sports a pin on his lapel that calls attention to the help that his needed in recovering from the Smokehouse Creek wildfire currently burning in the Texas Panhandle, the largest wildfire in the state's history that has consumed over a million acres and is still ongoing. }
James Gilmore: I've said this many times, but it still rings true today. Debuts aren't easy for the competitors involved, dealin' with jitters and all that stuff.
Iyo Kenshin: Based on your experiences, what do you make of Dixie Wrecks and her potential in IWF?
James Gilmore: Well, what you've got here is a powerhouse brawler. In other words, she's gonna beat the livin' hell outta you from bell to bell. As far as potential goes, I ain't willin' to judge that right away.
[DING!]
{ Blue Shoes called for the bell to start the match, which lasted just a shade under ten minutes. Billie got so decent offense early on, eventually going for a crossbody that connected for a two-count. But...Dixie would wreck Billie, no pun intended, afterward with a wide gamut of power-based maneuvers that had JJ cringing at the desk! Eventually, Dixie was able to grab Billie by the scruff -- after Parris attempted a haymaker that missed wildly -- and executed a wheelbarro suplex and bridging pin combination! }
Iyo Kenshin: She calls this little ditty the Beverly Wheelbilly!
James Gilmore: Now that's an original idea if I ever saw one. I'm pressed...
{ Blue Shoes is right there to make the count! }
1...!
2...!!
THREEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[DING-DING-DING!!!]
Alison Valance: Here is your winner...DIXIIIIEEEE!!! WWWRRRREEEEEECKS!!!!
{ "Boot Scootin' Boogie" plays once more as Dixie celebrates her victory! }
Iyo Kenshin: What a great way for Sixie to make her Imperial debut!
James Gilmore: I think both women AND men oughta be careful around this gal. There ain't no down home country sweetness when it comes to this gal!
Rayne: Are pigs flyin' around here?! 'Cuz for once, JJ and I are on the same page!
ā--------------------------------------------- SEGMENT 1000 Word Limit Masao Akiyama is interviewed ahead of their exclusive debut next week on Sacrifice. ā---------------------------------------------
{We had backstage to Tiffany Jones stood next to the man mountain that is Masao, currently wearing a IWF T shirt and pants with a jacket as he stretches and looks at the camera and Tiffany}
Tiffany Jones: I'm here with one of the IWF's recent batch of stars, welcome to America, Masao Akiyama!
{Masao nods and rubs his hands together before smiling}
Akiyama: Thank you, Tiffany the honor is mine.
Tiffany Jones: So what brings you here?
{Masao shifts slightly to gesture to the microphone as if to ask 'may I?' And Tiff hands him the stick so he can step fully into shot}
Akiyama: I will not waste your time with plenitudes, or compliments I was told the best reside in IWF, My path is not yet forged but The truest steel can only be tempered in the hottest fire. I seek to be tempered, I seek to test myself against all who would stand. I seek the strong.
{He squares up against the camera}
Akiyama: It does not matter, The Wraith, Nick Knight, Dean Harper, choose your names, choose your time, choose your battles I will show you The will of the mountain, and the rage of Sakurajima. You will see come Sacrifice.
{He takes a moment to hand the microphone Back to Tiff as he walks away Tiff gives that smile and looks after him}
Tiffany Jones: Well, that's all we have time for, Masao Akiyama everyone!
ā--------------------------------------------- SINGLES MATCH 1500 Word Limit Jason "J-TV" Hathaway vs. El Grande Malo ā---------------------------------------------
Iyo Kenshin: We're thrilled tonight to see our second debut of the night, aren't we Rayne?
Rayne: Eat it, Sacrifice!
Iyo Kenshin: Well, I might not mirror my partner's words, but I do her sentiment. Next up we have perennial favorite, and Mexico, Maine's favorite son - El Grande Malo taking on the newcomer Jason "J-TV" Hathaway!
{The house lights dim slightly as the words āOLĆā appear on the screen. The fans begin chanting along with the music as El GrandĆ© Malo bursts out from behind the curtain. He stomps his way out to the center of the stage, bouncing up and down in time with the music.}
Alison Valance: Making his way to the ring, from Mexico, Maine - EL GRRRRRRANDE MAAAAALO!
{Malo hops up and down pointing into the air and quickly begins jogging down toward the ring, slapping the outstretched hands along the way, before sliding into the ring and heading for the nearest corner. He scales the turnbuckles and continues to hype up the chanting crowd before dropping down and pulling on the nearby top rope, stretching while waiting for the match to begin.}
Rayne: Malo is looking ready to ... well, I don't know specifically what he's about to do, but he looks ready at least.
Iyo Kenshin: That he does!
{"Nobody fully understands the effect lightning has on its victims, but strange things seem to happen."
The lights begin to flicker and spin as the drums begin to play, and Jason Hathaway emerges onto the stage. Robbie the Camera Guy is right behind him, hoisting an old video camera on his shoulders as the screens in the arena cut to a live shot of Robbie's feed, complete with a "J-TV" watermark in the corner.}
Alison Valance: And his opponent, from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, JASON "J-TV" HAAAATHAWAAAAAAY!
{Jason saunters his way down the aisle, swaying and dancing to the blaring surf-rock playing through the speakers and directing all his attention to Robbie's camera rather than those of the actual show. When they reach the apron, Robbie puts down the camera and slides into the ring first, quickly snatching the microphone from the ring announcer.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, you are now watching... J! T! V!"
Hathaway walks around the side of the ring and hops up onto the apron and flips over the top rope, letting his sunglasses fall off in the process as he drops to a knee and poses in the middle of the ring with his arms spread wide. Robbie slides Jason's jacket off and leaves the ring as Jason slides over to his corner.}
Iyo Kenshin: And here's the newest edition to Imperial!
Rayne: I've got to say, Iyo, there's been quite a bit of buzz around this new guy all week.
Iyo Kenshin: Well, it's time for us to all see if he lives up to the hype!
[DING!]
{The referee calls for the bell to get this match underway. Malo leads things off with a quick leg lariat that catches Hathaway off guard, but finds nothing but canvas as he attempts to follow it up with a flipping senton. Hathaway goes to work on the luchador with some well placed elbows that rock the masked man back into a corner. Hathaway follows up with a teardrop suplex to bring Malo back out of the corner and into the center of the ring once more.}
Rayne: The new kid's got chops, Iyo!
Iyo Kenshin: That he does, Rayne, but I don't think he's quite finished yet.
{Hathaway grabs Malo, pulling him back to a vertical position before wrapping him up, twisting his arm behind his back and spinning his way into a hammerlock suplex that has the crowd all wincing along with}
Iyo Kenshin: He calls that the J-Plex, Rayne!
Rayne: Of course he does. And why are you always exclaiming everything?
Iyo Kenshin: I'm just excited I guess!
{Hathaway moves in for the count}
1...!
2...!!
MALO KICKS OUT!!!!!
{ Hathaway shakes his head with a smile on his face as he quickly rolls beneath the bottom rope and gets to his feet on the apron. He watches Malo slowly struggle back to his feet on spaghetti legs as Jason hypes up the crowd. Malo stumbles and turns in time to see Jason slingshot himself over the top rope and drive Malo face first into the canvas with the Sign-Off! It's all academic at this point, but Hathaway makes the cover and hooks a leg as the referee slides into position }
1...!
2...!!
3!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[DING-DING-DING!!!]
Alison Valance: Here is your winner, at 6:13 ... JASON HAAAAATHAWAAAAAY!!!!
{ "Sferic Waves" begins playing once more as J-TV celebrates his debut victory. }
Iyo Kenshin: Another impressive debut tonight, Rayne.
Rayne: I think we're going to be seeing some good things from this kid, Iyo.
ā--------------------------------------------- SEGMENT 2000 Word Limit Jess Fowler, Randon Hayes and Cliff Cook and more IWF officials meet with Roberto Verona to discuss the state of IWF. ā---------------------------------------------
{ We re-join the broadcast by heading straight backstage where Roberto Verona sits in a large ornate chair at the front of a corporate room, flanked by masked figures standing stoically by his side. Assembled in front of him are various IWF officials, including Cliff Cook, Randon Haynes, Jess Fowler and Bob Pooler. Verona looks over at them all before beginning to speak. }
Roberto Verona: Do you know why my soldiers wear masks?
Randon Haynes: I think I mayā¦
{ Veronaās head shoots over to Randon as he glares. }
Roberto Verona: That wasnāt an invitation to contribute.
{ Randon looks down at the floor awkwardly before looking around him, noticing Cliff stealthily thumping on his mobile phone and Jess Fowler smiling awkwardly. }
Roberto Verona: Itās because I know that everybody in this company is liable to whisper little treasons to one another. A little moan about their position on the card here, a conspiracy around the motivations of their superiors thereā¦ and they do it because they feel safe. They feel comfortable enough to ferment their dissatisfactions without seeking solutions until they boil over into something altogether more difficult to control.
{ Verona looks over his shoulder at the figures flanking him on either side. }
Roberto Verona: āFor we are manyā ā it isnāt just a pithy catchphrase, itās a message. Nobody besides me truly knows who is behind these masks, not even those who wear them know precisely who their comrades are. Those stood beside me today may not be the same as who stands over my enemies tomorrow. Their number is incalculable, they could be anybody ā your friends, your family, your rivals. The identity of my Legion is secret for one reason and one reason alone ā fear.
Nobody in this company deserves the luxury of feeling secure ā including everybody in this room. It breeds complacency, it breeds bitterness and it breedsā¦ discontent. My Legion are a symbol ā I have eyes and ears everywhere. Including where you may least suspect. Anybody could have joined their ranks, it could be those you trust the most ā even those you whisper your deepest, darkest mutinies to.
{ Everybody stands in silence, their eyes beginning to scan the room surveying who is thereā¦ and who is not. Verona smiles, drinking in their discomfort. }
Roberto Verona: There will come a day my finest generals may reveal themselves ā but not yet. Nowā¦
{ Verona stretches his arm out and smiles warmly. }
Roberto Verona: I believe we may have some business to attend to.
Roberto Verona: As youāre all aware I have been absent from the day-to-day business of this company for two years ā much to the delight of some, I am sure. And during that absence I have entrusted all of you to run this company in my stead, a responsibility I would expect each of you to take very seriously. Suffice to sayā¦
{ Verona pauses as he rotates his wrist. }
Roberto Verona: Improvements are necessary. Now, allow me to be clear, Iām a fair man ā I understand that running a professional wrestling company is an exercise is massaging oversized egos. I appreciate the burden that it placed upon you better than anybody else and in my grace, I am willing to extend upon all of you gathered here today an amnesty for anything which occurred during the period of my absence.
{ Suddenly a huge sense of relief washes over the room. }
Roberto Verona: Howeverā¦ do not excuse my mercy for ignorance. There are numerous problems blighting this company that you are now responsible for resolving and going forward you will be judged accordingly. Letās start with last weekā¦
{ Verona shakes his head. }
Roberto Verona: Given the assault on my faithful employee Vasco Dias last week, effective immediately you will all be provided a member of my Legion toā¦ protect you, for your safety of course. I wouldnāt want any harm to befall any of youā¦ unnecessarily.
{ Verona flashes a smile. }
Roberto Verona: There is of course also the issue of the chaos surrounding my womenās divisionā¦ would anybody like to explain to me precisely why the build up to the Iron Maiden has been allowed to descend into a farce?
Jess Fowler: If I may, I had hoped that those involved would have been able to recognise the benefit of building momentum into such an opportunity, but instead theyā¦
Randon Haynes: Iād like it on record that I specifically requested more resources to provide securityā¦
Cliff Cook: Oh really, and what good did they do last week? And the week before that, andā¦
{ Verona immediately interjects. }
Roberto Verona: I donāt want to hear excuses or participation in a blame game, I want solutions. Tonight is a start, but there are still four more spots in the Iron Maiden to address and let us not forget that the IWF Womenās World champion requires a challenge ā we wouldnāt her to be going rusty, would we?
Jess Fowler: Noā¦ but I believe I may have a solution.
{ Randon and Cliff both turn to look at her. }
Jess Fowler: Toā¦ ermā¦ celebrate the forthcoming Roulette, why donāt we host a special Battle Royale to determine the last four competitors? Once only four remain, tonightās winners will enter to determine their order of entry at High Stakesā¦
{ Jess trails off as she watches Veronaās face, waiting as he ponders, dragging it out for just long enough beforeā¦ }
Roberto Verona: Iām pleased to see youāre embracing my desire for solutions. Itās settled, in two weekās time, live on Odyssey, weāll host your Battle Royaleā¦
{ Jess smiles. }
Roberto Verona: And weāll watch it together, live at ringside.
{ Jess gulps. }
Jess Fowler: Itā¦ itāll be my pleasure.
{ Jess turns to walk back to the rest of the officials but Veronaās voice bellows after her. }
Roberto Verona: You werenāt dismissed, Fowler.
{ Fowler winces, slowly turning around and smiling as best as she can to hide her discomfort. }
Roberto Verona: My champion still requires a challenger ā do you expect her to go empty handed? Iād prefer we didnāt prove our critics correct unnecessarilyā¦
Jess Fowler: Noā¦ of course not, I willā¦
Roberto Verona: Announce her next opponent for High Stakes next week on Sacrifice, yes.
{ Jess nods. }
Jess Fowler: Of course, as you wish.
{ Jess finally letās out a sigh of relief as she turns to rejoin her colleagues. Verona looks across the assembled group and sets his eyes on a specific member. }
Roberto Verona: Which brings me to you, Bob.
{ Verona looks straight at Pooler, followed by the turning heads of the assembled staff, placing Bob right on the spot. }
Roberto Verona: You and I go a long way back, donāt we Pooler?
Bob Pooler: Well, yes, Iā¦
{ Verona continues, talking over Bob. }
Roberto Verona: Which is precisely why I entrusted you with perhaps the most important job of them all - the nurturing of our next generation of talent. And I have to sayā¦
{ Verona pauses, studying Bob for a few moments. }
Roberto Verona: Youāve been doing a good job.
{ Bobās body visibly sighs with relief. }
Roberto Verona: Despite the breakdown in authority, you must be commended for identifying a new generation of acquisitions for our womenās division. Natasha, Serenity, Charlotte, Itami, April, Maiā¦ theyāre all proving themselves to be quite promisingā¦
Bob Pooler: Thank you, Roberto, Iā¦
{ Verona raises a hand. }
Roberto Verona: Butā¦ thereās always room for further improvement. I need you to ensure that the people looking to make a name off the back of IWFās brand as properly tested, far too many leeches looking for a quick buck and another notch on their belt collection tours have slipped through the net. Iām sure youāll agree, that isnāt acceptableā¦ this is the biggest company in the world, not another acronym to shove on their resumĆ©s. With that in mind, Iāll meet you in my office when Iāve concluded business here. You and I will be making an appearance together next week on Sacrifice.
Bob Pooler: Consider it done.
{ Bob looks nods toward Roberto who waves a dismissive hand in his direction as he turns, smiling with relief as he passes the other officials. }
Roberto Verona: That will be all for now, you may enjoy the rest of your eveningsā¦
{ The group begin to walk away. }
Roberto Verona: In the company of your new protection.
{ Suddenly a number of masked figures appear and stand side by side with each of the officials as they are gradually marched out of the room. Our scene fades to a commercial break on the face of Verona whose smile quickly transforms to a glare as they turn their backs and exit one by one. }
ā--------------------------------------------- TAG TEAM MATCH 3000 Word Limit (One 3000 word combined roleplay or two 1500 individual roleplays) The winning team will secure two spots in the Iron Maiden. w/ Shea O'Hara and Jennie Fennix as special guest commentators. Natasha Walker & Serenity Holmes vs. Abigail & Mai Everstone vs. Caroline Machado & Itami vs. April Madrox & Charlotte Shimizu ā---------------------------------------------
Alison Valance: The following match has the special commentary team.. First the current Womenās World championā¦ Jennie Fenix!!!
{ The opening of āCenturiesā by Fall Out Boy starts playing throughout the PA, and there is not one person in their seat as they are already scouring amongst each other to find the IWF Womenās World Championā¦ The neon masks light up the audience, but the lights quickly return to normal, and the crowd is rather surprised when Jennie comes out from behind the curtains dressed in a pinstripe suit, alternating of lavender and pink, with the IWF Womenās World Championship proudly displayed around her waist, and her hair is pulled back into a bun. She waves to the crowd from center stage as if a politician were greeting their own masses before walking casually over to the commentators table and taking her seat beside Rayne and Iyo Kenshin. }
Iyo Kenshin: No theatrics tonight, Jennie?
{ Jennie fixes the front of her jacket, and flashes a smile. }
Jennie Fenix: I am a professional, Iyo, and tonight will be no different. I am here to call a match.
{ Jennie says with a nod, but the crowd behind her starts getting louder and shouting out to get Jennieās attention - she doesnāt disappoint, but simply looks over them and gives them an enthusiastic wave. }
Alison Valance: Next, the current holder of the Queenās Gambitā¦ Shea OāHara!
āCheck? Okay.ā
{The Imperialtron comes to life with a green ECG beep, then a white one and an orange one, then an Irish tricolour fourth beat which transitions a flatline, replaced by a stronger, bolder, more assertive identity in uncompromising gold against the black: SHEA OāHARA. The crowd erupt as a renewed ball of energy, Shea OāHara explodes through the curtain. She surveys the electric crowd for a moment. She holds up her custom Queenās Gambit guitar case.
The crowd show no signs of dipping in their energy as they are greeted by the fiery redhead in shades and scarlet leather jacket. Taking centre stage, Shea plants her feet firmly, bouncing into a slight squat as she throws up the ādevil hornsā on her free left hand. The gesture is coordinated with the start of the chorus of āComing For Bloodā by Eva Under Fire (featuring From Ashes To New) as a trio of small intermittent flame pyros are set off on either side of her.
Shea then sprints to the ring, sliding under the ropes with her case, where she bounces up to her feet and runs to the ropes, playing to the camera as she places her left foot on the bottom rope, bouncing before raising the case again, triggering yellow sparkling pyro explosions from each turnbuckle either side of her.
The crowd remains vocal in their support as she moves from the ring to the empty commentary desk. The lights return to normal and the music fades. Shea sets the Gambit case doen beside her seat, before taking it besides the current Womenās World Champion. Shea adjusts her headset.}
Shea OāHara: Gotta say, Iām honoured ta be calling such an important match here tonight, alongside my unlikely broadcast partner, the current two time reigning Womenās World Champion who went through hell last month against former World Champion, Brooklyn Madrox in a Dragonās Den Match at Metamorphosis. The winners here will earn the first two spots in the Iron Maiden at High Stakes and the winner of that will earn the right to challenge whomever is Womens World Champion by the time we get to Night of the Immortals in a couple of months.
Jennie Fenix: It was a fun little shindig. The people fighting here tonight better bring their A game, but do you really think itās enough whatever they bring?
Shea OāHara: Assuming thatās not rhetorical, and youāre asking my opinion, I try not to underestimate anyone. Anyone can beat anyone in this business and they often do when you least expect it, like.
Alison Valance: The following match is a tag team match scheduled for one fall with the winning team receiving a spots in the Iron Maiden!
{The arena lights fade to black as a fog begins to fill the entrance area. Eerie-pitched music begins to play as crimson light moves through the fog serpent, causing goosebumps on the skin of anyone who views it. Heavy guitar begins to blast from the speakers and bright blood-red light begins to strobe to the beat revealing that there is a creature deep inside of the fog.
Slowly the creature moves forward in an otherworldly way, sometimes moving like a man and sometimes like a serpent. There is an explosion of pyro as the vocal chord-destroying vocals of Torture by Deviloof begin and for the first time, the fans see the demon-masked face of āThe Lady Painā Itami.}
{ The lights go out, and the crowd eagerly awaits the entrance of Caroline Machado. We hear the sound of her distinctive, goofy chuckle reverberate throughout the arena. And then, as if on cue... }
"Hi!!!"
{ A burst of pyro goes off, and the crowd leaps to its feet as Caroline bursts out from behind the curtain! With a smile on her face and eyes twinkling like diamonds, the Brazilian is bathed in a sea of green and gold lighting effects as Dua Lipa's "Dance the Night" starts playing. She dances on the stage to the track's first verse, taking in the moment around her. }
"Baby, you can find me under the lights Diamonds under my eyes Turn the rhythm up, don't you wanna just Come along for the ride? Ooh, my outfit so tight You can see my heartbeat tonight I can take the heat, baby, best believe That's the moment I shine
'Cause every romance shakes and it bends Don't give a damn When the night's here, I don't do tears Baby, no chance
I could dance, I could dance, I could dance"
{ Caroline takes a bouncy stroll down the ramp and high-fives fans along the way, her bubbly and cheerful exterior shining through and through as the chorus kicks in. She hops and jives around the ring, soaking in the atmosphere before hopping on the apron and eventually over the top rope. The ring also becomes bathed in that green and gold hue as confetti shoots out from all four ringposts. }
"Watch me dance, dance the night away My hŠµart could be burnin', but you won't see it on my face Watch me dancŠµ, dance the night away (Uh-huh) I'll still keep the party runnin', not one hair out of place
Lately, I been movin' close to the edge Still be lookin' my best I stay on the beat, you can count on me I ain't missin' no steps..."
{ The Brazilian kips up to all four corners and salutes the cheering crowd, smiling from ear to ear as she does so. As the lights return to normal, Caroline's bubbliness turns into a calm, warrior-like vibe as she waits for the match to start. }
Alison Valance: First team out to the ring Itami and Caroline Machado!
Shea OāHara: Audacious Caroline entrance aside, this is quite the formidable team if they can get their act together here tonight. Caroline has already achieved the impossible once in her career when she ended the over a year long Women's World Championship reign of Shelly Diamond, can she once again overcome the long odds here tonight to secure her destiny?
Jennie Fenix: Keep in mind that I ended her short little run, and when she did take the title, she never pinned the champion to take it. Does it count?
Shea OāHara: Well, if we start discounting all the title changes that have happened over the years without the champion being beaten in a more traditional sense, weād have to amend a lot of history books and people like Roberto Verona could still claim to be champion to this day as he was never pinned when he lost.
{"Riot" starts to roll the Distinctive drums into the arena as the lights dim, before stepping out the back in her outfit comes Natasha on time with the Scream in the track the thin "webbing" on her outfit lit up by UV as she bops to the beat and moves down the Ramp, taking a moment to hop to sit on the top rope Facing the crowd in a corner before draping backwards slowly to hang herself back and the use her extraordinary flexibility to pitch back onto her feet with a smile.}
{"Synthetic Sympathy" by Trash Boat immediately explodes from the arena's surrounding systems, sparking a positive reaction from the audience. The bass and repeated opening lyrics synchronize with the lights flashing around the venue's interior, leading to Serenity Holmes sprinting from the backstage area to center stage, where the fans of the Action Wrestling universe greet her. She stands center stage before taking off her hat and throwing it into the fans for amusement until looking down the entrance path, where she takes off into a run for the mere moment of interactions on her fast-paced run to the ring.
Serenity slides under the bottom rope before unloading onto her feet, where she quickly hops onto the middle turnbuckle of an unoccupied corner to greet the fans at ringside. She flips her hair and throws up a peace sign with her tongue hanging out while winking at the camera. Serenity hops down and lands on her feet before running around the ring to show love to every possible fan in the atmosphere before staying in her designated corner, waiting for the next moment.}
Alison Valance: Second team down to the ring is Natasha Walker and Serenity Holmes!
Jennie Fenix:
Shea OāHara: Natasha is a star on the rise, and Serenity is a woman I have some history with. I'm glad she was able to avoid serious injury last month and is now looking to put herself right back in the hunt. Will her ego remain in check long enough to work as well as she needs to with Natasha to secure the big win here tonight?
Jennie Fenix: This is the team Iām excited for because Natasha has been on a roll, like you say, and Serenity is a big name no matter where she goes. Sheās had some hiccups here, sure, but who hasnāt? So kudos to you on winning.
Shea OāHara: Thank you.
{The lights in the arena dim at the opening drums and guitar. Abigail walks alone out under a soft white spotlight to a mixed reaction. The lights flash sand yellow and soft orange in time with the rhythm. The lyrics of āHallelujah (Iām Not Dead)ā by Citizen Soldier accompany her walk down the ramp. She clenches her jaw before pausing in the middle of the ramp, and looking heavenward. She flings her arms out either side of her offering herself up to a Lord she knew to be no longer there.
When there was no salvation, she cracks her neck slightly and continues her journey down the ramp under her own power. She walked up the steps, not to heaven, but into the ring. Ready to defend her position in life, as fiercely as she once defended her faith. Under the spotlight, in the middle of the ring, she drops to her knees and lets out a rebellious yell heavenward as she throws her head back. She breathes heavily, as she focuses on the challenge ahead. The music slowly fades and the lights return to normal as she slips off her waistcoat, ready to compete.}
{ The words rip through the stadium as "The Bird and The Worm" hits as the lights dim to a dark purple. A grey like smoke rising on the ramp way as the form of Mai comes up onto the stage with videos of Crows playing on the screen behind her. She waves with a large smile. She skips happily down the ramp, stop to wave at the fans and taking a selfie with some doing a silly face before making it down to the ring. The lights begin to flicker red in the purple as she stops at the steps.
As it looks like sheās about to jclim,b the steps she jumps onto the top rope with ease. Maiās hands extending out to the crowd as she grin wide. She puts her hands down on the top rope as she looks around the ring and she begins to lift herself up onto the rope before flipping back onto her feet where she howls out at the crowd. Pyro explodes from every corner in a brilliant green light as the lights turn back to normal. }
Alison Valance: Third team down to the ring is Abigail and Mai Everstone!
Jennie Fenix: I know a little about Abigail, and it could be a fun oneā¦ but sheās a little too concerned with The Murder, and then to deal with Maiā¦ Iām not even really worried about these Murder people, though. A lot of hot air. A lot of people don't realize Buffy ended almost two decades ago.
Shea OāHara: For my money, probably the most dysfunctional team in this match. I do not envy Abigail for having to work together with The Murder here tonight, and with April also in this match, part of me has to wonder if the fix is in and whether they can be truly trusted not to screw every other team out of their chance, to instead guarantee that The Murder has at least one representative in the Iron Maiden, likeā¦
{Before the music starts, the tron lights to show a red sun slowly rising over a broad expanse of ocean. The image flies apart into a flurry of red feathers and pink flower petals as the music hits. When the introductory chorus drops, Charlotte strides out, right fist pumping into the air in rhythm with the words āOh yeahā.
She circles the outside of the ring after the intro chorus and the first verse, pausing briefly at each side to work the crowd before climbing nimbly up to the apron before the last line of the verse. On the apron, she takes a running start from one corner towards the ringpost opposite. At the last second, she jumps up to the second turnbuckle and flips over the top rope, landing feet together and hands raised just as the chorus hits again. She again circles, pumping her fist high in time with the pounding guitar and screaming vocals of MYTH & ROID.
As the chorus comes to its end, Charlotte stands in the center of the squared circle and bows from her waist to the audience, her hands clasped at her chest. To her fading music, she strides purposefully to her corner and starts shaking out her hands and rolling her neck in preparation for the coming match.
Charlotte walks slowly up the ramp, smiling slightly and giving some love to the cheering crowd. At the top, she turns to face the crowd and, with her hands clasped at her chest, she bows at her waist to the crowd before leaving.}
{The lights throughout the arena flicker and go black, with several of the lights around the entrance seeming to overload, sending sparks flying down the stage. One by one, the screens flicker back to life showing a harvest moon hanging in a cloudy sky as the sound of fluttering wings and screaming crows fills the building. The screens soon swarm with the silhouettes of these birds, drowning out the moon and filling the arena once more in darkness as the opening strings of āThe Devilās Gonna Comeā by Raphael Lake & Royal Baggs begins to play.}
āThe Broken and Fallen, dangled souls been sent to burn,
Nowadays they been calling, telling me soon itās gonna be my turnā¦ā
{A dark red spotlight hits the stage, revealing April standing with her hands on hips.}
āNow I knowā¦ the Devilās gonna come when the sun goes downā¦ā
{April makes her way down to the ring, quickly climbing the ring steps and wiping her feet on the apron before stepping into the ring and walking with purpose to the middle of the ring, raising a hand into the air and clenching it into a fist as the house lights return to normal.}
Alison Valance: Last team down to the ring.. April Madrox and Charlotte Shimizu!
Jennie Fenix: I gotta say, I kinda feel for April. I know the whole little sister thing, and her sister aināt no pushover. And then Charlottes another hot up and comer.
Shea OāHara: Charlotte, another friend of mine who in my opinion has drawn the short stick as far as reliable partners go. Depending on any member of The Murder to act against the best interests of their group is not a wager Iād be willing to make, personally.
{the match starts with Caroline, Abigail, Natasha and April in the ring. The ref signals the bell and the match goes crazy. Itās hard to track the action as everyone seems to be throwing everything at one another until things seem to settle. Caroline takes a suplex and rolls to tag Itami in but Itami steps back from the rope and moves to the ramp where Gregor Winter is waiting}
Jennie Fenix: Bold strategy, Shea, I wonder how itāll work out for them. {Hunches forward and watches intently.}
Shea OāHara: I canāt say Iām surprised. This is a match of divided loyalties.
{Itami simply watches as April grabs Caroline and drags her back into the violence. Serenity goes to tag in but the tag in ends up slapping Natasha in the face. Without a second thought Natasha leaves the match to fight her tag partner on the outside.}
Jennie Fenix: Butā¦ butā¦ I CAME TO WATCH TAG TEAM WRESTLING! If this were Squid Games they would all fail. And die.
Shea OāHara: This match might just break down into yet more chaos.
{Charlotte tags in for a little bit fighting Caroline and Abigail. Abigail hits Blind Faith and covers Carolineā¦ 1 2 Charlotte drags Abigail off her and they fight over to the corner where Mai is.}
Jennie Fenix: I think Abigail had it there but she didnāt really seem to take note toā¦ well, the other teams.
Shea OāHara: Abbyās not used to working well with others, often just relying on herself for the win, that tunnel vision and desperation could be her undoing hereā¦
{Mai tags herself in. Charlotte clotheslines Abby over the ropes and hits Mai with a DUSTBOWL TYPHOON! With Caroline still down from the Blind Faith and Abby on the outside being kept at bay by April, Charlotte hits another Dustbowl Typhoon on a woozy Caroline and quickly pins the former Womens Champion. 1 2 3!!!}
Jennie Fenix: I have to say that is rather shocking, but Iām happy the little sister picks up the win!
Shea OāHara: Iām happy for my friend Lottie, but disappointed that her win means The Murder also get a representative in.
Alison Valance: The winner of the first two spots to the Iron Maidenā¦ April Madrox and Charlotte Shimizu!
{as Charlotteās music hits the PA with her cheering Vivienne and Brooklyn appear next to the ring, entering it moving towards Charlotte but April stands between them and her new friend clearly talking them out of whatever was about to happen. Vivienne picks up Mai and the murder exits with April waving at Charlotte who looks confused.
Abby meanwhile is clutching the back of her head, staring at the various members of The Murder in disbelief as Charlotteās music continues to play.}
Jennie Fenix: Yāsee that, Shea? They want no piece of me because they know I took out their best.
{Shea doesnāt answer Jennie and gets up from the commentary desk, her job done for the evening. She collects her case and makes her own exit after Abigail who is walking up the ramp, shaking her head, in frustration.}
ā--------------------------------------------- SEGMENT Earlier In The Day ā---------------------------------------------
{ Nick Knight is sitting on a trainer's table as Dr. Nichole Kingsley IWFās Head Physician shines a light into his left eye. The doctor then felt around on Knightās face making the Invictus Champion wince. }
Dr. Kingsley: How does that feel?
Nick Knight: How the fuck do you think it feels?
{ Dr. Kingsley laughs at Nickās reaction. }
Dr. Kingsley: Given the way that you jerked away from me I going to guess itās still really tender.
Nick Knight: You could say that.
{ The doctor reaches into her bag on the floor and pulls out her laptop. She turns it so Knight can see the screen. }
Dr. Kingsley: This is the CT I ordered this morning to double-check that you didnāt have a fracture.
{ Slowly she presses a button going through each layer of the scan. }
Dr. Kingsley: You still have a lot of bruising, but I donāt think youāll have any permanent damage.
Nick Knight: So Iām good to go?
Dr. Kingsley: Not until I take a look at that shoulder.
{ Nick hops back up onto the table pouting like a little kid. }
Nick Knight: This isnāt necessary, Doc. My shoulder feels great.
{ He turns it circle to show that itās fine and has to hide a grimace on his face. }
Dr. Kingsley: I work with you big tough wrestlers every day, so please donāt b.s. Me. How does it really feel?
Nick Knight: It hurts like a son of a bitch, but Iāve also not taken any kind of pain medicine for it besides some ibuprofen for two days.
Dr. Kingsley: Thatās good, but I need to make sure that youāre alright to wrestle tonight. You know the drill.
{ The doctor begins to examine Nick who cringes with every single exercise. }
Nick Knight: Well?
Dr. Kingsley: I honestly donāt feel comfortable with you wrestling given the amount of pain that youāre in, but you technically passed.
Nick Knight: So I can wrestle?
Dr. Kingsley: Against my better judgment, yes you can wrestle.
{ An excited Knight hugs the doctor before running out of the training room. }
ā--------------------------------------------- HARDCORE MATCH IWF INVICTUS CHAMPIONSHIP 2000 Word Limit Nick Knight (c) vs. Logan Sky ā---------------------------------------------
Alison Valance: The following hardcore contest is scheduled for one fall, and it is for the Invictus Championship!
{ As one of the most iconic riffs in Rock history starts to pump out from the speakers, Logan Sky walks out onto the stage, soaking in the crowd's reactions. He moves to each side of the stage, throwing his arms up to try and rile the crowd up for the impending match. }
{ He marches down the ramp, head bobbing from side to side before he climbs the stairs, wiping his feet on the apron before he steps through the ropes. Then he moves to each side of the ring, shouting at the crowd to pump them up. }
Iyo Kenshin: This is a big opportunity for Logan Sky, Rayne. The veteran stalwart of the independent scene has probably seen it all -and done it all- inside of a professional wrestling ring. Tonight he looks to do something that only four people in this industry have done thus far though, which is to wear the prestigious Invictus Championship.
Rayne: To do that, he's going to have to take it off of Nick Knight's waist. Could he, absolutelyā¦ but this is going to be fought in Nick's element, so Mr. Sky better have packed two lunches somewhere in that one piece he's wearing, and brought a cheese grater with them.
{ Every light in the arena is extinguished in the blink of an eye and the sound of a clock ticking begins to play at an almost deafening level. Every few seconds another clock joins the chorus until an alarm bell rings to quickly be replaced by the eruption of pyro that sends ghost white flames high into the sky. Then as the flames are quenched the opening keyboard of Blood for Miles by Deathstars begins to play.The arena stays dark except for a ring of fire with a figure standing in the center. The man is dressed in an ankle length black trench coat, wide brimmed black hat, a black leather plague doctor mask trimmed in brass covers his face, and he is carrying a cane. Stepping through the flames the man makes his way towards ringside, a spotlight tracking him on his way down the aisle. Halfway to the ring he stops and pulls an ornate watch from the pocket of his coat to check the time. The moment that he returns the watch to his pocket the words āTicktock The End is Now,ā appears on every single LED board. }
Alison Valance: Now making his way to the ring from Hollywood, California he is the reigning IWF Invictus Champion Nick Knight!!!
{ Knight slowly walks to ringside, stopping just short of the ring to methodically strip off his hat and coat leaving him in black trousers with a thin gray stripe, his mask, and the IWF Invictus Championship belt around his waist. Slowly the arena lights come back up as āThe Hollywood Butcherā unstraps the mask and hands it to the ringside attendant before climbing into the ring. Nick unstraps the belt from around his waist and folds the straps underneath before lovingly handing it to the official. The official holds it high into the air for the crowd to see before giving it to the ringside attendant and calling for the bell. }
Iyo Kenshin: It is fair to wonder what type of shape the champion is in walking into this match after the beating he suffered last week. The bruise around his eye is still apparent, and just a few short days ago we saw him with his left arm in a sling.
Rayne: Knight would probably tell you himself, there isn't a man or woman in that locker room that isn't at least a little banged up. The man has a mission statement, he wants to hold that belt until he hits free agency so he can take it with him. I certainly question the wisdom and the sanity of admitting that when your employer -one of the richest, most powerful men in the world- can hear, but Knight is double tough. We'll see how it plays out for the guy.
{ The referee for this contest, Tommy Knocker, signals for the opening bell. }
Ding!
{ Knight darts across the ring at the sound of the belt, leaping onto Sky with a flurry of fists that drive the challenger back into his own corner. Nick rakes the eyes of his adversary, temporarily blinding him. With Sky in a vulnerable state, Nick takes him by the head, dragging his face and eyes across the top ring rope before throwing him over the top rope, to the floor. Logan lands hard, and Knight wastes no time in going outside after the veteran. Nick viciously puts the boots to Logan. The Invictus Champion pulls Sky up, looking for an Irish whip into the steel ring postā¦ but the big man from San Antonio reverses the attempt, sending Nick's bad left shoulder into the unforgiving steel! Knight grimaces as flesh meets steel. He turns around and catches a stiff European uppercut from the Machine! Sky grabs Nick's arm and slams it over the steel guardrail surrounding the ring! Knight walks away, clutching at his arm in retreat. Sky follows him as they advance towards the timekeepers table. Nick grabs the bell hammer with his good arms, spins, and plants it right in Sky's breadbasket. The shot doubles over Sky. Nick tosses the hammer down, and savagely dishes out some hard headbutts to the back of Logan's cranium to tenderize him like a steak. Knight cinches big Logan up and delivers a snap suplex through the timekeepers table! }
{ With Sky down in the wreckage, Knight takes a moment to flex out his arm before digging under the ring. The Hollywood Butcher pulls out a piece of plywood covered in barbed wire, carrying it over and propping it up against the security rails in the corner. Knight makes his way back to Sky, but Logan is stirring. The champion comes in with a kick to the head to halt Logan's rise. Knight brings Logan up now, leading him towards the piece of plywood by the head. Knight tries to ram Sky face first into the barbed wire, but Sky puts a boot against the board for the block! The Machine throws a punch into Nick's midsection, then violently Yanks down on Nick's left arm! This time it's Logan Sky that sets up for a suplex, only he puts Knight through the barbed wire covered sheet of plywood with his! The champion's body lays in a twisted heap, tangled with the wire as blood flows from scratches on his back and arms. Sky is slow to capitalize, however, feeling the physical toll of the match in his aging bones, too. }
{ Sky is eventually the first to stand, albeit with a heavy dose of unsteadiness. He removes Knight from the wreckage to toss him back inside the ring underneath the bottom rope. Sky goes in after Knight. The challenger attempts a cover, but he can only hold the champion down for a count of two! Logan wears a look somewhere between disbelief and heartbreak, but he remains undeterred. The challenger guides Knight the rest of the way to his feet, serving up seven punches (complete with stomps) to his wobbly legged foe before capping the exchange with a big elbow drop to floor Knight. The crowd rallies behind the Machine, and he seems to feed off their energy. Logan runs the ropes, dropping a big leg across the face of Knight! The impact on his orbital bone causes Knight to flop around on the canvas like a fish out of water before Sky forces him onto his back in another pinning predicament, but the gutsy Knight once again kicks out at two!!! The challenger pounds the mat, trying to figure out the formula to put the champion away. Sky gets back to a vertical base, signaling to the crowd it's time for his finisher. He turns around, moving in on the Hollywood Butcherā¦ but the crafty champion lifts an arm to catch Sky with a low blow that was perfectly legal in the hardcore environment. The only thing preventing Sky from falling over is Knight's arm between his legs, and his body kneeling in front of him. Knight removes his arm, and gives Sky a shove backwards to topple him. Covered in scratches and blood, bruised and sore, the champion is very slow to power to his feetā¦ but he does. He stumbled his way towards Sky, lifting the Machine into a German suplex! The Champion needs another moment to collect himself, but manages to deliver a punishing "Welcome to Hollywood" on Logan!! Not done there, the champion once again gathers himself, dumping his gas tank perhaps to spike Logan's head into the canvas with the "Banned in Memphis"!! Knight drapes himself over Sky for a cover, scoring the decisive three count! The referee calls for the final bell. }
Ding! Ding! Ding!
{ Too spent to move, Knight stays draped over Sky as Nick's music hits. }
Iyo Kenshin: What an effort from both men, but the low blow from Knight meant the beginning of the end for Logan Sky! Nick Knight walked in the Invictus Champion, and he'll leave the sameā¦ but he's unquestionably worse for wear.
Rayne; I never had a doubt in my mind. He can't continue this pace, though. We have the best doctors in the world, but even they can only put a guy back together so many times.
{ Knight gets to his feet, snatching his belt from the official before stumbling into the ropes. He smiles as the show cuts to a commercial break. }
ā--------------------------------------------- SEGMENT 500 Word Limit Warren Harper arrives at the arena despite not being scheduled to appear. ā---------------------------------------------
{The uncompromised glare from the headlight of a grey and red Suzuki Hayabusa sports motorcycle cut through the night. The guttural roar of the engine disturbed the electric atmosphere around the sold out Paycom Center in Oklahoma City for tonightās special edition of Odyssey.
The man in a black leather motorcycle jacket and pants pulled up in the parking lot. He cut off the engine, parked the bike and dismounted. He took a moment to remove his black helmet and the watching crowd are heard cheering in the distance as we are introduced to the stone face and cold blue eyes of Warren Harper.
Warren carefully set aside his helmet and retrieved a white-handled and black-headed sledgehammer from the large rear-mounted trunk. Warren twirled the comfortable weight of the deadly weapon in his hand and was momentarily transfixed by the beautiful lethality of the barbed wire around its head - an extra touch of sadism that could only come from a twisted Kane mind.
Warren took a deep breath as he cast his eyes downward for a moment and hoped his father was finally looking up to him. The stubborn bastard probably still wasnāt proud of Warren for what he intended to do, but still it felt necessary.
Warren looked ahead of him and relaxed his shoulders as he marched towards the arena entrance. He was barely through the doors when Tiffany Jones was trying to shove a microphone in his face. He couldnāt hear her, his sole focus elsewhere. He locked eyes with her until she backed off.
Warren cracked his neck as he continued down the hallway where he saw a couple of EMTs standing by, talking amongst themselves. Good, Warren thought, Black would be needing them imminently.
Dr Griffiths caught him next. The kind old man seemed mortified, whether at the sight of Warren or the sledgehammer in his hand was unclear. The man seemed unusually frail this evening, his attempted intervention unwelcome, his words of clinical logic and reason werenāt filtering through, drowned out by the painful recollection of his sobbing and broken husband, Dean.
Fate was fickle and cruel. Warren would give anything not to be haunted by the memories of Deanās soul rending confession, but these were the memories he was stuck with. A promise repeated that nobody could know what Uriel Black had done had tortured Warren for years now. A promise he shouldnāt have made. Warren shouldnāt have put love above justice, nor loyalty above morality.
Here, tonight, he had one chance to set things right. This was bigger than the World Championship, more important than the Roulette and above even the sanctity of whatever remained of his marriage. This was about doing what needed to be done.
If Warren could deliver even half of the anguish Uriel had inflicted on him and his husband, it would be worth it. This wasnāt business, it was personal.
Uriel Black would be violated here tonight, tooā¦}
ā--------------------------------------------- MAIN EVENT SINGLES MATCH IWF MEN'S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 3000 Word Limit w/ Caleb Cannin as Special Guest Referee Dean Harper (c) vs. Uriel Black ā---------------------------------------------
Iyo Kenshin: And now on to our main event.
Rayne: Hope the ambulance is ready.
Alison Valance: For tonightās match we have a special referee, current holder of the Joker in the Pck briefcaseā¦ Caleb Cainin!
"The Future is... NOW."
{The opening riff of āEpicā greets the audience as Caleb Cannin walks onto the entrance stage. He smiles devilishly as he makes a confident stride down the ramp, with Kilgore not far behind. He reaches the steel steps, glaring at any fans in the front. Making a careful ascent up the steps, he wipes his feet on the apron before setting foot in the ring. He ditches the jacket and towel, handing them to Kilgore before sitting down cross-legged in the corner.}
Iyo Kenshin: I doubt he is going to call a straight an even match.
Rayne: Thatās not what the fans paid for to see anyway.
Alison Valance: The following contest is match and it is for the IWF World Championship! Introducing first: The challenger, standing at 6'8", weighing in at 235 poundsā¦ from Glenfinnan, Lochaber, Scotlandā¦ Uriel Black!
{The crashing opening chords of "Burn in Hell" by Dimmu Borgir sound through the PA, and Uriel Black walks through the curtain, head bowed as he stridently ignores the boos of the crowd. He steps to the head of the ramp, kneeling down, and clasps his hands in prayer, head bowed as the lyrics begin.}
Welcome to the abandoned land Come on in child, take my hand Here there's no work or play Only one bill to pay There's just five words to say as you go down Down Down...
YOU'RE GONNA BURN IN HELL!
{As the words ring out, Uriel springs to his feet, arms wide as he walks down the ramp, bellowing defiantly. He leaps onto the apron, turning to face the entrance ramp with his arms hooked over the top rope. After a moment of scanning the crowd, he steps between the ropes, shrugging off his jacket. Uriel tosses it to the side as he walks to a corner and kneels in prayer once more, waiting for the match to begin.}
Iyo Kenshin: Uriel Black back into the ring for the first time in years. First time back in the company since that fight he had withā¦youā¦in the preshow panel.
Rayne: And Iāll throw hands with him again if he so much as looks at me.
Alison Valance: And his opponent, weighing in at 185 pounds ā from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, representing, he is the IWF World Champion: DEAN HARPER!!!
{The crowd grow silent as the lights go out as the beginning of Freak Flag gets louder the stage area starts to fill with smoke. Suddenly, and abruptly as the drums and guitars kick in a pyro explodes around the stage.}
āWe're taught to be like them
Taught to know our place
We kept the pace but we're done pretending
We'll fall blindly through the fairy tale endings"
{Pyro explodes either side of the rampway as Dean Harper appears through the red tinted smoke. He stands with his arms outstretched, fists balled up soaking in the reaction from the crowd before walking down to the ring slowly. He jumps up onto the apron before springing on the bottom rope into the ring. Once in the center of the ring, he spreads his arms wide as he soaks in the red flashing lights before lifting his head sharply, kicking back the hood to show his face, nodding in rhythm to the music as he slowly breaks into a wicked grin. After a few moments he turns and settles into his corner, tossing his hood and jacket to ringside.}
Rayne: Dean seemed pretty intense leading up to this match. Iām excited to see it.
Iyo Kenshin: You just want to watch Uriel Black get his ass beat.
DING!
{Uriel plows right to work, using his superior muscle mass to his advantage against the slightly taller man. He lays into Dean hard with a series of brutal punches and kicks, keeping in with a close brawling style thatās served him well in the past. As Dean begins to make back his ground, Uriel quickly shifts gears, rushing in close and driving Dean to the ground with a simple but effective suplex.}
Iyo Kenshin: Uriel definitely looking to get an early advantage here.
Rayne: Maybe heās trying to push it quick because his tank isnāt quite full? Ring rust and all.
{Dean gets to his feet quickly before Uriel can capitalize by trying to lock in an early submission, and moves to get some distance between himself and his bulkier opponent. However, even as he moves around, using his agility to buy him time, a cocky smirk starts to spread across his face. As Uriel moves to approach, Dean snaps forward and takes him to the mat with a slingblade. Uriel is quick to get back to his feet, but Dean has rebounded off the ropes and flies back into the soldier, taking him down again with a bicycle knee. Uriel gets up again as Dean runs through, but isnāt quite quick enough to stop Harper from taking him to the mat again with a sitout facebuster!}
Iyo Kenshin: Dean definitely targeting the head tonight.
Rayne: Deanās going to use everything he has to batter his opponentsā weak spots ā itās the only way he wins this match. Uriel is bigger than Dean in everyway.
{Indeed, Uriel growls angrily and pulls himself up, angrily knocking Dean away with a powerful backfist strike. Dean grins as he backs into the corner, but stops smiling as Uriel plows into him with the Pride's Penance! Dean goes down hard, and Uriel immediately goes to pin Dean! 1 2 However, he can only keep the hold on for a few seconds before Dean gets a leg up on the rope!}
Rayne: Fast count.
Iyo Kenshin: Smart move by Uriel.
{Dean hauls himself up on the ropes before stabilizing himself, Uriel gritting his teeth and continuing to meet Deanās increasingly sadistic grin with his own steely, focused gaze. He cracks his neck and moves forward again, looking to maybe drive Dean down with another heavy-hitting moveā¦ But Dean interrupts his advance with the DANCE THE SPIRAL, knocking Uriel down in a heap on the groundā¦ accompanied by a spray of blood.}
Rayne: Woah!
Iyo Kenshin: What just happened??!
{Dean grins and circles Black as the ex-follower of God pulls himself up, reaching to touch his forehead only to find it gushing blood. He begins blinking rapidly as the blood trickles into his eyes, and Dean begins to chuckle. Uriel slowly tries to haul himself back to his feet, still managing to track Deanās movements, but the blinking makes it clear that the trickling blood is making it increasingly difficult for Uriel to see. However, before he can get up, Dean slams into him with the ABADDONāS KISS, driving him down hard and further exacerbating the cut.
Caleb cainin should have started counting ages ago but lazily begins to count -
ONE!
TWO!
THREE!
FOUR
FIVE ā Uriel gets a hand up on the ropes!}
Rayne: Dean didnāt go for the pin?
Iyo Kenshin: He wants a brutal win, I fear.
{Uriel uses the ropes to haul himself to his feet, desperately wiping the blood from his eyes as he turns to where he thinks Dean is standing. Dean is no longer laughing, making an effort to stay silent to make it harder for Uriel to track him. Urielās head is snapping around quickly, and it becomes apparent that he is starting to breathe faster and heavierā¦ the blood in his eyes bothering him in deeper ways than simply making it hard for him to see. Dean tilts his head to the side, eyes widening with bloodthirsty excitement. He moves forwardā¦ but Uriel manages to catch him before he can strike and takes him to the mat with the FAITHāS FETTERS! Dean tries to roll away but Uriel, almost as if on instinct tightens the choke!!}
Rayne: This is it!!
{Dean struggles against the hold, but finds Urielās grip absolutely implacableā¦ however, he finds that his hand can reach Urielās face. He reaches up and rubs his hand first on the blood, and then down to his own neck and chin. He repeats the process several times, using Urielās blood to grease his way into slipping ever so slightly out of the holdā¦ unfortunately for Uriel, that little extra leeway is all the man needs to stretch his leg back and hook the rope! Caleb doesnāt call off the hold until Dean has already freed himself. Unlike usual where he might be delighted to be covered in blood, Dean pops out of the ring and grabs a towel to wip his face before getting back inside before Caleb can get to 10 count.}
Iyo Kenshin: That was one way to escape that move.
Rayne: At least he didnāt dislocate his own shoulderā¦
{Dean rushes forward and drives Uriel down hard with the SHOW OF DEVOTION! He flips Uriel over, and for a moment looks like heās going for a pinā¦ but instead he gets up and starts kicking uriel as hard as he can. Almost unhinged in the strikes, clearly trying to break some bones.}
Crowd: YOU SICK FUCK! YOU SICK FUCK!
{Dean then leaves Uriel on the ground clutching his face as he climbs up to the top ropeā¦ before coming back down hard with the SCREAMING FROM THE SKY! He stands and signals for the ref to start his count!
ONE!
TWO!
THREE!
FOUR!
Uriel is barely moving, the blood loss clearly taking its toll.
FIVE!!
SIX!!
SEVEN!!
He rolls to his belly and tries to get up, but Dean GENOCIDE KICKs him in the head
EIGHT!!
NINE!!!
Uriel is motionless
TEN!!!}
Alison Valance: Here is your winner, AND STILL IWF WORLD CHAMPIONā¦ DEAN HARPER!!!
{Instead of Deanās music hitting in triumph to celebrate a successful title defense, the lights change, flickering purple briefly.
āMirror Mirror on the wall Show me truth or none at all Break the glass and walk away Iām done with everything.ā
{Warren Harper runs down the ramp, armed with his barb wired sledgehammer. Warren slides into the ring, as Alison and Caleb scatter. Even Dean backs off as Warren looks at his husband for a moment and then down at the barely conscious Uriel.}
Rayne: What is Warren doing here?
Iyo Kenshin: I dont know but i dont like the look in his eyeā¦
{Warren readies a hammer swing, bringing it down repeatedly on the downed Urielās chest and gut, cutting him open and forcing him to cough up blood as Warren goes to town like s man possessed. Clearly the most sadistic Warren had ever been. After no fewer than seven shots, Warren looks over at Dean and smiles, dropping the weapon. The crowd are electric as Uriel is a beaten and bloody mess between the couple.
Warren tells Dean, āLetās Finish This!ā and lifts a clearly already injured Uriel to his feet. Dean lifts Uriel up into a flapjack whilst Warren drives his knees into the bloody midsection of Black.}
Rayne: Old Habits!
Iyo Kenshin: We havent seen that tandem offense from these two in years. What does this mean?
{We get no immediate answers as security and EMTs rush down to the ring, they have to pry Warren off Uriel who is screaming at him about justice being done. Warren cannot be contained and delivers a succession of Trauma Responses to several members of security, before collecting the hammer now fresh with Urielās blood and finally leaving the ring.
Uriel is being loaded onto a stretcher and Warren keeps asking him āWhere is it? Where is it?ā Uriel manages to cough and whisper something that brings a twisted smile to Warrenās face, we don't hear what, but Warren looks across at Dean and shoots him a wink as we go off the air with Warren raising his bloody hammer in triumph, having gotten his pound of flesh and exactly what he came for here tonight.}
