The scenery fades inside at the Tara Fenix Training Center, where Amber Vogel can be spotted running the ropes inside of the ring… Her hair is braided back, and she’s dressed in what she traditionally wears out to the ring. She’s wearing wireless headphones as she tries to keep herself in the zone, and doesn’t hear the oncoming footsteps but she spots the person out of the corner of her eye, and pulls the headphones from her ears to let the headphones rest around her neck - Jennie Fenix, the younger sister of her primary trainer, Tara Fenix, and the current IWF Women’s World Champion. Jennie has the title around her waist and she rests her arms on the bottom rope while looking at Amber inside of the ring.
“Whatcha up to?” Jennie asks.
Amber is a little bit out of breath and walks over to the corner to retrieve her bottle of water and takes a swig.
“Hey, Jennie–” Amber says. She’s still a little bit starstruck in Jennie’s presence, and flashes a smile, “I just know that I’m up for a chance to get into the Ironmaiden, and y’know,” she purses her lips, “I think it’d impress your sister a lot if I could just get in the match.”
Jennie shrugs.
“I didn’t expect to see you here. Usually it’s Seth roaming, or Sabin… or your sister…” Amber says with a hint of confusion in her tone.
“I’m just gonna be honest with you and say that I heard you were here, and just wanted to stop by to see how you’re doing and just wanted to–” Jennie grits her teeth a bit, “Remember, Amber, you’re one of the only people here that has pinned me! Okay? And you should know me, I’m not the type of person who’s going to make any excuses for what happened… That win, that pin, that sticks with you, and I think you need to be sure when you go out to the ring on Tuesday, you are fully capable of winning and going into Ironmaiden! And not only that–” she says while raising a finger to say ‘there’s more’, “I think you could win Ironmaiden. You’ve got literally the best trainers on the planet that are pushing you to become something! And I just– I have no doubts that you’re going to. You just gotta have that confidence in yourself.”
Amber nods and can’t help but smile, even as she bites down on her bottom lip to try to contain the excitement but there’s no hiding her flushed cheeks as she mutters a reply to the champion, “Thank you, Jennie. That– it really does mean a lot.”
“But I can’t say my intention of being here is purely innocent…” Jennie says with a coy smile as the camera gets a little bit closer, and Jennie gives it the side glance before getting frustrated, “NOT THAT EITHER, PERV!” she rolls her eyes, “I’m pulling for you, Amber, ‘cause I do still want to give you that one-on-one match and see if you can squeak out another pinfall victory!”
“I’ll make it happen.” Amber says with more confidence in her tone.
“You better!” Jennie answers.
“Are you gonna be at the show Tuesday?” Amber asks right as Jennie looks like she’s about to pivot on her heels and depart.
“I wish I could, but I’m actually… really tied up, and it just sucks! ‘Cause I love your work, honey! And my snookums has another match, and I’d just– I’d love to cheer him on from the back, and everything! But I just– I have a lot going on this week, and already told the big boss man that I wouldn’t be available this week.” Jennie says with disdain, truly disappointed that she couldn’t be at the show this week.
“I understand,” Amber says.
“Knock that Dixie chick out, though! I’m rooting for you! Ciao for now!” Jennie pivots on her heels and leaves, as Amber nods; her face filled with confidence as she goes back to running the ropes and getting herself physically prepared for the match this week.
