“Just as we said.”
The confident, almost arrogant tone echoed in the room as the scene opened up on a shot of Edwyn Merrick, once again seated in the high-backed leather chair from the previous video. This time, however, he seemed to be alone as he tapped his fingers on the armrests with a smirk across his face and his hazel-green eyes staring down the camera lens.
“We told you all what would happen. That Amber Vogel would be the first to fall at our feet.”
As he speaks, his image is superimposed with a short clip of Kasey Vex from last week, applying the “Wicked Little Machine” onto Amber Vogel, the hold tightening until Vogel is forced to tap out. The clip ends and Edwyn’s smirk grows even wider. “That was simply a taste of the carnage to come.”
He shifts in the chair slightly, bringing his hands up and lacing his fingers together underneath his chin. “And it continues this week. Now, any other feeble-minded waste of a competitor might piss and moan at the fact that they’ve been pushed down to the ‘inferior show’-” Here, he raised his hands up to perform the universal sign of air quotes before nestling his hands underneath his chin again - “but for those of us with functioning brains, we see this as an opportunity. Anywhere we go, we elevate. We turn forgotten shows into must-see TV. The moment the name ‘Kasey Vex’ appears on the card, it turns into the event of the night. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that it’s the main event. And my dear sister will put on a main event performance as she continues on her path of dominance.”
Seemingly out of nowhere, the white fox skull mask materializes out of the darkness surrounding Edwyn’s chair. Resting her chin on top of the chair back, Kasey Vex’s dark eyes shine even in the dim lighting as a half-smirk quirks up the side of her mouth. One hand toys with the end of the long pink braid hanging over her shoulder as she begins to speak.
“One falls, and another is placed before me. Amber was valiant, I will admit. But discretion is the better part of valor. She chose health and wellness over injury. Because rest assured…had she kept fighting, she would have been injured.” The smirk turned vicious as her voice lowered to almost a snarl, her eyes flashing with barely restrained contempt. “And now, from rookie to veteran. Nancy Pailson-Carlson. A supposed legend. Perhaps only in her own mind. But legendary status is no shield. All legends crumble. All empires fall. And in the Coliseum, with the crowds baying for blood, I shall give them what they crave. They will watch as another gladiator falls to my sword.”
Flicking the hair back over her shoulder, she stares down the camera lens as Edwyn chuckles darkly, the scene superimposed with a fox head logo before it glitches out and fades to black.
