While the vast majority of the roster were present on the European tour, Tara – who hadn’t been seen inside of the IWF ring since her match against Serenity Holmes at Legacy – is found across the globe…in Phoenix, Arizona. The sound of power tools fill the room. The center focus of the camera is on a professional wrestling ring that has been designed to be in the exact center of the establishment, and inside of the ring is none other than Tara and Amber – the ring is fully built at this point, and the workers are in other parts of the building slowly piecing everything together.
Tara gives a firm tug to each of the ropes, while her student, Amber Vogel, follows slowly behind her, “Miss Tara,” Amber fumbles out the words; it was clear that Amber wasn’t as comfortable speaking with Tara as she was with Jennie…Tara instilled a different sensation within her, the relationship between them being nothing more than that of a teacher and a student, and as demonstrated at the recent RCW event, Tara was protective of her students, “How come you called me here?" Amber finally asks.
"I just wanted to talk to you..." Tara answers.
"But you pulled me from the European tour--"
"We're going to make it back. We're flying out today. I just wanted to show you what I've been working on, and maybe...hear from you about what happened at RCW..." Tara says.
"You really didn’t need to get involved with what happened there–” Amber blurts out, her voice becoming quieter as the final word escapes.
It becomes unclear to Amber whether Tara was paying any mind to her, as Tara doesn’t even turn her head to acknowledge her statement at this point…Tara continues to check on each of the ropes, making sure they’re secure. Amber bites her lip, fighting the urge to ensure Tara heard her, but before she can mutter another word, Tara speaks, “Amber, honey–” Tara pivots on her heels and leans against the corner, her crystal eyes dancing around Amber giving her a sense of protection, “What happened in that ring was unacceptable. I did Fiona a favor by letting you contend at her show, because it would get her some extra attention…maybe she would generate a little bit of revenue to see one of my star pupils–” Amber snorts out, shaking off the idea that she’s a star pupil; the action doesn’t go unnoticed by Tara, as she lowers her jaw, “Care to tell me what’s funny?”
“It’s just– I–” Amber stammers, “I just don’t think I’m one of the stars…”
Tara scoffs and takes a step forward, “Because you didn’t beat Serenity? Because you didn’t beat Kasey? Amber–” she puts a comforting hand on her shoulder, “I wouldn’t have sent you to compete at IWF or RCW if I didn’t think that you were good enough. But listen– what that girl did to you needed to be answered. I don’t know what kind of shit show Fiona thinks that she’s able to run by sending her girls out to get stiff with mine, but I’m never going to stand there and accept it! Do you understand me?”
Amber sighs, “I get that, but it’s like– it’s like–” Amber again bites down on her bottom lip, almost too scared to share her thoughts with Tara.
“Like what?” Tara inquires.
“It’s like having my mom show up in the middle of the school day to drag me out of recess…” Amber says with a low laugh.
Tara chuckles under her breath, and shakes her head, “Then the next time you get in the ring with anyone who wants to pull that kind of shit, you need to put them in their place. You need to set them straight. Do you understand me?”
“Yes, ma’am.” Amber answers. “I have to say, I don’t really envy Fiona this week…”
“I wouldn’t envy her either,” Tara answers smugly, “I’ve been looking for an excuse to get back into the ring for a long time. And she gave it to me. Come Sunday, I’m going to do the whole world a favor and end her whole goddamn career.” She states coldly.
Amber trembles a little as a chill runs through her spine when Tara makes the threat, or rather, the promise…Amber starts looking over at the ongoing construction on the building, “Is this going to be another wrestling school?” Amber asks.
“No,” Tara answers, “It’s going to be much, much bigger.”
