Inside Fiona McFly's office at the RCW headquarters...
A stack of paperwork.
A monitor playing video from her fledgling indy wrestling company's biggest event.
And of course, there was a piping hot cup of Earl Grey.
Fiona McFly sat down in her chair with a stoic look on her face, watching the replay of how a match between her top prospect, Sunny Skye, and Tara Fenix's top prospect, Amber Vogel, went completely sideways. It was excruciating for her to watch the tape being played in front of her, showing her how those two women went stiff on each other in a match promoted as a gesture of goodwill. Along the way, she was reading a printed out stack of comments and feedback on how to properly handle the situation that had transpired the other night.
Some had suggested that Fiona fire Sunny.
Even worse, some had gone so far as to have Sunny blacklisted.
On the day when she was making preparations to announce Retro's inaugural Hall of Fame class, this hurt her a lot. Fiona admired Sunny Skye, having worked with her in Star Trek: Coexistence as well as seeing her progress inside the ring. She loved her for her hard work and steadfast commitment to the business. This was exemplified when she put the RCW Women's World title on the native Ukrainian, and in her heart, Fiona was very proud of how Sunny had overcome so much in her life -- including a war -- to get to this point.
Fiona found herself in a bit of a pickle.
Having to deal with Sunny was one thing.
Having to deal with Tara herself, Amber's trainer, was another.
Fiona was going to take a low-key approach to her upcoming match at Night of the Immortals. She was going to let Tara do the talking whilst the Northern Irishwoman let her own actions speak for themselves. Even though she did have her computer's webcam ready to go for a livestream, she opted against saying anything. For deep down in her soul, Fiona wanted to make this challenge in the same manner as he she promoted the Sunny-Amber contest.
Without harbouring any will will, but acting in good faith.
Fiona, after all, wanted to be a people person -- a fledgling promoter who followed the Roberto Verona model of looking after her talents, no matter how many times they've fucked up. Yet on this day, with heavy rains in the forecast throughout the week, she had to put her mind back into the game and put on the suit of armour once more.
Yet whilst she didn't appreciate Tara calling Retro a "pee-wee league" after jumping the safety fence and interfering in the match in question, Fiona knew that there were much bigger things in store down the road. Even though the temptation was there to have Sunny fired or blacklisted for her actions, the Imperial Hall of Famer, however, wanted to be the better person than what the comments and feedback were suggesting.
Even if it meant paying a small price.
