“Time to draw a line under this huh?”
We fade in to Nat sat cross legged in a meditative pose wearing a Skydiving Jumpsuit and a parachute as she smiles, the roar of the plane muted by the interior somewhat but still audible.
“I didn’t win last week, but I didn’t lose either me and my partner took the Tag team champions the time limit, we went for a full 20 all out and I was this goddman close to putting The Widow down.”
A small laugh as he clicks her tongue against her teeth and looks up to the camera.
“I wanna go again, I can feel it in my spirit Charlie I had her right there! Three more seconds and I’d be right up there….fuc..”
She laid back with a huff of nervous frustration and she tenses her chin.
“We’ve not had much time to Bond as part of the Birds, I hear what he others are sayin’ that I’m just riding your coat-tails as if I didn’t get to Maiden all on my own merits and throw Myself off a steel structure at you. As if they don’t see what goes into our training sessions as if they don’t know what drives the pair of us.”
She chuckles a bit and nods a bit as the fire seems to spring back in her eyes and she sits up.
“But I made you a promise, I don’t think anyone is ready for what is about to happen when we clash, I don;t think anyone but us is ready, not Hannah , not Rini and certainly not our tag partners.”
She smiles widely, clapping though the result isn’t heard over the noise of the aircraft as she looks of screen and gives a thumbs up turning to make sure her chute is secure
“We started a game that isn’t gonna finish, and in the words of a certain Doctor I’m your Huckleberry.”
She turns once again and smiles.
“You’re the Iron Maiden, You want to be the heiress, You want your name in lights and you want if nothing else to prove This country, to prove Jennie and to prove the voice I know for a fact lingers in the back of your head, that snarling snapping dark to prove that wrong that the 7 years you spent here had to mean something , problem is Charlie You’re a child of two worlds, and they tug and pull at you for attention you try to satisfy them both but trust me I know how hard a tightrope that is to walk and I know better than anyone how tempting it is to just… Fall off, or even jump.”
She looked down and sighed.
“Low blow I know, but we both know the stakes for this one are just as high as the Maiden, if not Higher than that. We both know that despite being teammates the question of who is better is gonna hang over our heads like the sword of Damocles. I would rather not have it any other way , so sky’s the limit, the stars even, hell I want the very heavens to TREMBLE at the applause we’re gonna gather. regardless of Allen and Pax, we both know the guys are gonna go.”
She nods and gestures to the camera to turn around revealing the cameraman is wearing a parachute too.
“I do trust them to handle business, working with Allen last week told me , despite whatever differences we might have, we jive, we jive way better than I thought we would, Whatever kinks wee in the system last week, They are smoothed out, refined to a razor’s edge, at the very least to a tent like structure.”
She gives a soft sigh, chuckling.
“Pax is nothing to sniff at man has a list of accolades and stats to his name but we both know in the heat of it? Stats mean nothin’ and it’s a race of consistency between us both, Allen hard hitting and mild nonsense style with my …Well you know what I do by now friend.”
She poked her tongue out as if to tease.
“Hell, tell neither of them to tag in and let’s just do this ourselves, 20 minutes, full afterburn raising the stakes until one of us crashes and burns? Give our respective partner a bucket of popcorn or tell them to take up commentary for the night?”
Nat starts to laugh at the image in her head and she eyes the camera shaking her head realising how absurd , but funny that would be.
“Yeah I know you want that too, reality and Pax and Allen might have somethin’ to say about that, they have their own shit to prove don’t they? Hell there might be points in this match we get to do the thing we hate the most and that’s watch somebody else take the licks.”
Her eyes look about a moment as she sighs
“Desperately wanting to get in there, do something for the excuse to be let off the leash again for the next round of the game to start, a mix of concern and worry and excitement and egging each other on, double dog Dare.”
She mimes out reaching a hand looking at it and then at the invisible tag partner having the hand.
“C’mon…’cmon just Tag me in… “
A pause and she smiles as she glances to the plane window and then the camera.
“Those moments will be like that, calling higher and higher waiting for the hand to hand, the go signal that means the door is open and all you gotta do is jump and spread your wings.”
She slaps her own hand and looks up into the camera with a wry smile.
“I could both go in circles here so, let’s just end it like this. We are the Future of the IWF, one day A belt will rest on one of our shoulders, I have no doubt and I sense we’re racing to see who gets there first , less out of ego more because we’re like that we see a goal and we hop to it. Nobody can tell us no, we won’t allow it.”
She looks off to one side and she frowns and looks away from the camera.
“You need the humble reminder you aren't the only one eating this pie, as hot as you and your new boyfriend are, I need this one more than you and I CAN’T be satisfied with almost or what ifs…No Charlie, This week out of all the weeks.”
A nod certain of her decision as she starts to stand and nods to the other divers.
“You gotta go down, I gotta get this done for me, get a little closer in the chase and to put a little mud in the eye of my doubters, you can get the next one, ok? We both know We’re gonna run it back at some point.”
She winks a bit and rescues herself to pop the skydiving goggles on, the sky below a mess of blue and a nice enticing wide shot of Okayama below.
“One more thing, Sorry you couldn’t be here to do this…But I’ve had this booked for a week or so now…Try and keep up!”
The door slides open and Nat gives a pair of finger guns to the camera as it follows her out and she dives away the mic only just picking up the.
“I am the night!”
As we fade out to Nat ‘s from almost swooping a few feet like an arrow before levelling out.
