Nate might be overprotective for an older brother, but since his parents died he was the only one to keep his sisters safe. He knew what Abraxes had done to Nick Knight’s kid. He wasn’t going to let that kinda shit come for Justine and Zoe.
Nate gathers the necessary items from his suitcase a bundle of dried white sage, a shell to catch ashes, and a feather to fan the smoke. He ensures the bedroom is well-ventilated and that Zoe and Justine are comfortable where they are standing. He hadn’t told the girls or his boys he was doing this. His insistence on bringing his sisters along for the last leg of the Japan tour had been vague. But he remembered how fighting the Pack had gone. He remembered the things Spike Kane had threatened. Maybe Abraxes wasn’t the same ilk but maybe he was.
“You’re overreacting,” Zoe said with her arms crossed.
“I ain’t taking risks with y'all.” Nate lights the end of the sage bundle with a match. He allows the sage to smolder, producing a steady stream of smoke.
“This will keep us safe?” Justine asked holding her teddy bear close to her chest.
“It should.” He begins by holding the sage bundle over the shell, letting the smoke rise. He gently waves the feather to direct the smoke around Zoe and Justine, starting from their feet and moving upward. His mother used to do this every time he’d had a nightmare, he remembered it helped to envelop them in the purifying smoke.
As Nate moves the sage around them, he tries to remember the words his mother used to say for protection.
Once he has smudged Zoe and Justine, Nate extinguishes the sage by pressing it gently into the shell. He let the smoke disperse in the room to ensure the entire space benefits from the cleansing.
“You have nothing to worry about.” Zoe insists. “He’s just a white boy in a mask.”
“What what if he’s not?” Justine asks.
“He’s bad medicine either way. And we ain’t taking the risks.” Nate set the shell aside, hugging his tow sisters close to him.

“This is it. This is Legacy! This is the shit that we fight for. Another defense for me. I been rep’ing this belt for everything I can. In my first defense, I got attacked by this spooky ass motherfucker. But you want to know what I been doing?
I been donating. I been making appearances with the kids. I been trying to get the light on the kids most people forget exist. I don’t hold this belt for my own ego like some. I want to make a difference. I want to remind folks that it aint just pretty white boys with anger issues that be getting to the top of the industry.
And after legacy? You know my ass be wearing this belt to every fish fry and powwow I can get my ass to.
Gladiator belt might be the low tier to some of you motherfuckers but this shit is legit.
This is why I’m here, this is why I busted my asses for months, keeping me and my boys names on your lips. Don't matter who we've faced, don't matter the odds, we never stopped fighting, 'cause we had something to prove. This is our time, this is our moment, and nobody, no matter the accolades they got to their name, was gonna keep me and the boys from takin' what we got comin'.
People had predictions and theories who would be fighting Warren for that belt. Either his guard dog that he kicked out the moment he stopped being useful, the mad prince or that big racist who likes beating women. Those were the people talking that good shit. Those were the front runners.
Nah, homie. Other plans. Our plans.
Pax motherfucking Stormcrow came out on top. And where is that overblown shit talker Wraith? Oh crawled off to have a temper tantrum? That’s what happens when you step to the best and think just name recognition gonna give you the upper hand.
"But Nate, you handsome motherfucker, shouldn’t you be talking about you own match?"
Well, my beautiful fans, I’m a hype man by nature. You gots to let me hype my boy up. Pax Stormcrow and me are coming out this show with the belts. And then when the tag team belts get another defense, trust that it gonna be TDH coming for them. My boy Jack deserve a title hisself and you know he’d make it look good.
And Charlotte? Oh you know she be kicking Jennie's ass from here to Canada. Charlotte got that spirit. She got that skill. And Jennie be scared. You can tell she be scared with all her vague and hiding she be doing. All that shit where she acts like maybe she got injured. Got injured doing what? Ain't like she be wrestling on the reg. So unless Channey be smacking her around, which I doubt, dude seems grumpy asshole but he don't seem the type to lay his hands on his women, so unless they be doing rawdogging-which I ain't one to judge, each their own there- she ducking our girl Charlotte.
When Legacy is done. Three championships gonna have that Seventh Generation charm.
LETS FUCKING GO.
But to the task at hand.
Abraxes.
See, I've been watching this show for a while, and I know me some Abraxes.
He's not about titles. He’s about proving a point. He is about humbling a motherfucker when he thinks they’ve gone out of what he be considering their lane. He punishes and he makes examples.
But apparently, he's got this whole thing going now where I’m next on his list.
Like, I've sat in on houngans doing their thing before in Nola. I’ve sat in on a channeling at the back of a smoke lodge at a powwow. Spirits get all up in that business, ain't my place to step in. I seen the spirits talk through a motherfucker. Used to be given me that intense nightmare shit.
So where some might laugh at the bad medicine that Abraxes is.
I ain’t fucking with that shit.
I ain't gonna pretend I'm a better man. I ain’t pretending I’m better than most. I’m just a man. Just a man with a whole lot to say, maybe an ego and pride in me and my boys, i gots a whole lot to do, and a whole lotta anger issues I’m more than happy to take out on y'all.
Yes, I drink and yes I smoke. And I love to lose control in the ring a time or two. Fuck your system fuck your bad medicine. You can never have my soul. It ain’t yours.
But I ain’t broken no laws of my people. I ain’t never violated sacred trust. And you might be a lot of things but if you are coming to step to me, you better not fucking miss.
I’m not some dumb girl in a horror movie, you feel me?
You're gonna witness the strength of street knowledge here, Abraxes. You ain’t the first supernatural motherfucker I had to catch hands with. I fought every male member of The Pack and every one of them got pinned under this fine example of Fry bread doin’ a body good. I fought Spike Kane at his peak and Angel when he was still God in the Night of the Immortals and I PINNED THOSE MOTHERFUCKERS.
I didn't survive fighting my way up 'cause I was soft. I had to fight hard for everything, and this ain't gonna be any exception, you bad medicine spooky ass bitch.
You have no place here. My land and my people are protected by our ancestors. Fuck off before you face their wrath motherfucker.
Trust.”
