Their time in Japan was coming to an end, but they’d promised a gathering before the event even as nervous or as banged up as they were, they had to see each other, they all had belts on the line, they all had the future ahead of them.
The excitement and nerves were palpable between them all, all other subjects had been put to the way side but they were training each other, pushing each other but social niceties had fallen away.
It felt weird and Serene as they ate in the little house they’d made a home away from home during the trip, between Disneyland, stress shopping, The Sailor moon stuff, the wind chimes , Nat had gotten know each other these women in their own ways and teh bonding over this trip had been insane probably faster than she was used to, it was a comfortable feeling, a warm feeling, right even.
Now it was almost over and there were still questions, like the Rini Issue, she’d been a little down since falling into the Gladiatrix division but she still held that same indomitable spirit, the spark to prove herself and now she had a real chance.
Then there was Charlie, is it safe to say they were almost in bestie territory? She wasn’t looking to supplant Rini, but she’d never met anyone who enabled her so much and psyched her limits like Charlie had.
They made each other better.
The whole thing had made her feel, was powerful the right word/ It just felt right, good, warm..No matter where in the world she was with these people? She felt like home.
The 'nakama' or 'ohana' Gimmick wasn;t one she liked throwing around but it was a quiet realisation as Rini zoomed around and gave out hugs that got returned. Yeah in this case it was way more appropriate than ever.
She didn't want this trip to end, but it was going to and that thought did make her smile drop slightly.
Then again wrestling as it was is just a big long non stop road trip.
So it was never going to end unless they decided to end it, that was uplifting, the horizons would never stop.
It was that point right there that any doubts as to her palace among the group faded in to nothing.
She belonged, they belonged.
They were going to kick some ass proving it.
“I guess I had that coming, The Kingdom and you …but it tells me something Serenity.”
The Tokyo Dome, one of the other great meccas of professional wrestling and sports, home to baseball, concerts, boxing and all manner of shows but soon it would be host to a legacy once more.
But it would be Natasha’s first time. She sat aiming at the bleachers, looking down at the skeleton of the growing arena, nursing a black eye and split lip.
“This will be my first time in the dome, I could be better looking but this is not the worst I've ever been beat up, but I see the play… Take the shortcut, give yourself the best shot of walking away head held high so you can justify your lies.”
Nat picks up a bottle of water and sips it with a wince, the beating still a little fresh as she looks down.
“Lets front, this is my first shot at an actual title too, no fancy names, no tournaments I’ve been close enough a few times in the big plays been stood on the biggest stages I can ask for and this is year 1, and now…now I get to face you Ren-Ren.”
A small smirk, idly throwing about the bottle in her hands to keep them busy as she talks rapid fire her features still showing the odd bruise.
“I bet you'll justify that attack of yours by saying I called you what is in essence harmless nickname that I overstepped my bounds by tagging my ass in , Woman I’m so in your head it;s pathetic and i;m not even trying, you’re running scared, running coward and you’re going to come out and paint yourself as the saviour of the division , girl You’re a sell out who is losing every friend and contact she made piece by piece and you’re mad..mad at me because I’m your mirror image, and I’m on your ass.”
She shook her head huffing a slight growl.
“No…I had this whole speech planned about your whole deal, you know? I kinda still do, You’re taking the saviours road that I should roll over and accept that you are bright and wonderful why? Because you were practically given the title on your waist? Because you put down Nick Knight after he threw hands with Masao: I’m Not saying you didn’t deserve that win, but it does feel like poor form doesn't it?”
Nat winces a bit at that and makes a rewinding gesture at her hands.
"No that's unfair, you got your flowers I just don't think you had earned that shot to start with. Verona dropped you in there as his assassin, and you took the opportunity merrily so they'll forever be just a little wilted."
Nat shakes her head and taps at her bottle on the plastic sidings her impatience growing.
"You feel you’ve been overlooked, ignored and out praised. Welcome to the business hon! Where you gotta graft everyday to get an inkling of notice, since you won that belt you’ve been given layby opponents, you’ve had your confidence nurtured but nobody likes you. You might think that’s a badge of honour you made it but we’ve all seen those moments when the Legion were rushing Allen, or when Canin became back… You’re just scared.”
She leant back, eyes closing as she stood up to start walking down the stair as the camera kept ahead of her looking up the stairs.
“Scared of looking foolish, scared of taking real risks and chances, scared of being forgotten, lost in the sea of talent, scared of being perceived as a child, why the nickname bothers you doesn’t it? You think I don’t respect you?”
Nat gives a rare scoffing little noise.
“Babe; you earned that one, I went out of my way to give you your due more than once, hell the nickname was supposed to make you I dunno, loosen up make you realise we do want the same things, that you know we could maybe bond on some level as competitors, but well I guess there’s only room for one in the world of Serenity, sat in your godamn ivory tower looking form between the bars of your gilded cage and telling me I’m no good?”
Natasha rubs just under her nose as she kept up her pace.
“All due respect, but this is what my first year in the IWF lets list it off, Hung 20 in the Budokan with my best friend and possible next women’s world champ, Came within a hairs ass of the Maiden win, Semi finalist of the Heiress and it it still isn;t good enough for a woman who asks me to get on level because I need to be taught about how business works, you’ll excuse me for thinking that as I’m pushing? The way I'm going about things is doing JUST FINE for me.”
She shook her head, hands gesturing as she spoke as the New Yorker in her was roused.
“The 22nd century girl spends her time with her ass in the past, never moving forwards whilst telling the rest of the roster we’re beneath you , that we tried to take everything from you? Hon you were on a cold steak, it’s unfortunate but…That’s the game , we go into every match knowing we might end it the loser.”
She rubbed at her nose as she gestures to the camera to let it know the barrier is coming up. There's a shift of movement as the camera slips over and Nat leans on the still in construction ringside.
“When things looked bleak you shouted to the sky at the unfairness of it all, and you accepted the first hand that was offered to you, but in doing so, you’ve lost any sense of anything that makes you interesting, you’ve entered a spiral and whats worse is you see it as a climb babe..”
She sighed and looked down at the bottle in her hands.
“Maybe I don’t always take this seriously, maybe I seem like I'm light hearted, but In this instance? You got all of me, Every inch the wave of the fixture is coming and whilst you look down on me .. I’m standing on my feet ..and I'm flipping you the bird. The sad part of this is I’m still outnumbered.”
Nat sighed and rubs her nose, her mind whirling at a thousand miles an hour.
“How does one face a legion? A legion placed with you at it’s head a legion with you as it’s general. The Invictus belt is a gateway shining promise to anyone on the roster to bring their best male or female and it's guarded by a face that can call on the army anytime it wants.”
She looks up the entrance ramp, or where the entrance ramp will be and she blows a breath.
“So my possible big breakout also happens to be an act of rebellion, you know what Serenity? That’s fine by me, bring out la guillotine, do you hear the people sing?”
She manages a little shake of her head.
“I hope I don't end up doing the same things as you, filled with regret but on top of the pile, hell maybe you -were- me once upon a time and that;’s the reason you seem to really have a hate on, you see in me everything you could have been were and in some ways still are.”
She dips her head and opens the bottle of water taking a long, long sip, eyes closing as she rubs the back of her neck.
“All for the Invictus, which you could argue is the gate keeper belt, a belt that brings on all comers, a belt that doesn’t care who you are, where you've come from, only that you have the will, the strength and the belief to go for it… “
She nodded a little, clicking her tongue against her teeth as she blew a long, long breath. Eyes fixed on some point past the ring area miles away talking seemingly to the air.
“Sky's the limit isn’t it?
She chuckles and nods.
“I’m not going to lie Serenity, I’m excited, I might even be high on my own supply here, because there;’s so much electricity in the air alrigh andt a tinder box that’s ready to blow and it;’s going to the Tokyo dome is going to see the two of us throw down and it’s going to be electric and …I’m not going to be denied..because You messed up…”
She grinned softly, her eyes once again getting a little fiery.
“You invoked the law of bet. Serenity… Which means I’m going to do everything in my power to out work, out play and out move you in an escalating game of HORSE, you’re part of my system now.. And this game? It doesn't end ....You might want to get rid of me…that’s never gonna happen now.”
She nodded once, twice, her jaw tightening as she looked into the camera.
“So I get to walk into Legacy, beaten, bruised and staring The champion in the face, and I’m going to say this very clearly, this is not ‘try to keep’ up any more this is I’m coming for that belt I’m coming to walk out of Tokyo to topple your throne and show the IWF just how serious I can get.”
She manages a wry little smile.
“Try to hold on, Serenity, The Invictus is coming home with me …Nothing else will do and then I will go and be the very best champion I can be.”
She stood up from the rail and moved past it to look about the arena slowly and then into the camera and smirking.
“I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.”
The excitement and nerves were palpable between them all, all other subjects had been put to the way side but they were training each other, pushing each other but social niceties had fallen away.
