Late last night, it was reported from The Wrestling Insider that Retro Championship Wrestling, the fledgling independent promotion run by IWF Hall of Famer Fiona McFly, will be going on an indefinite hiatus due to mounting injuries among several of its talents. This is extremely unfortunate news for the promotion as they had set to embark upon an ambitious plan to go national, culminating with the creation of their new flagship program, RCW Monday Night Titans. While the pilot episode drew a respectable 2nd place rating in its timeslot when it aired on CBS this past September, the show was marred by several major injuries -- including RCW Men's World Champion Petey Plinko, who suffered a non-contact torn ACL in his left knee while running the ropes during his title defense, necessitating a change in the match's finish.
Ms. McFly, speaking exclusively to TWI.com, has stated that she is working diligently with CBS and Paramount on a viable solution that will allow Retro to reset itself and its talents to fully recover from their injuries. While no definitive timetable has been established, it is rumored that Titans will be pushed back to the summer of 2025 as a result of the hiatus. Furthermore, it is also confirmed that their weekend series, Slammin' Saturday Nite, will carry a "best of" format with Donnie DeMuro and James Gilmore presenting some fo the company's biggest highlights.
Now that Retro is on hiatus, Ms. McFly has hinted on taking a backstage role in IWF, but that remains to be seen.
