“I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.” Revelation 22:13
It is a reality to be understood regardless of acceptance. It is a simple fact that undeniably exists as truth no matter how greatly one wishes to doubt its validity. The pure and simple truth, pure and eternal in its perfection. People wish to ignore the truth that the world exists in a state of mathematical balance, eternally bound by the parameters of perfection. Every yin must have its yang and every alpha must have its omega. As Newton stated, for every action there is an equal but opposite reaction. Therefore, it is only logical to conclude that the occurrence of life must be offset by the occurrence of death. It is here that the ignorant choose to plug their ears and turn a blind eye to the truth. They are so indoctrinated, so irreparably brainwashed by their selfish pride that they refuse to acknowledge the reality of the world continuing on once they meet their end.
Throughout the history of the planet, there has been the eternal cycle of life and death, of beginning and end. Eras come to an end, new lives are born, old lives die, and new eras begin. However there are still those who would refuse to accept this simple fact. They are the ones so in love with their own perceived abilities that they feel they can be an exception to the rules of nature. The general justification given is that one can always beat the system; they must simply be willing to take the risk. However, how can this truly come to be? Has there ever been a single human soul that has escaped the clutches of death? Has there ever been a single era or nation that has existed from the birth of this planet and will only fall with that same planet’s death? The obvious answer to these questions is of course no.
Yet if the answer is so obvious, why are there so many who refuse to accept it? The answer appears on the surface to be the simple excuse of human ignorance. However when one truly analyzes the human race and engages in a thorough research of sociology, it becomes all too apparent that the reason for this sense of denial is not ignorance but fear. People are afraid of the unknown, inherently fearful of ideas or actions that they do not understand. Instinctively they become defensive, damning these foreign thought processes as uneducated, archaic, fantastical, or even heretical. But the simple truth cannot be modified by human fear; it exists eternally, never once changing in any form. Human beings do not want to acknowledge that their comfort zone will change, however it is also inevitable that it must. Time exists eternally in a constant state of flux; however existence is finite, with an unavoidable beginning and end.
What is born of the earth will return to the earth. This brief statement is the true governing law of life. Just as the land gives birth to society, that same society will return to the soil when it inevitably crumbles. This same philosophy applies to time. While time itself is eternal, its innumerable sub-sections are not. Time never runs out, however specific spans of time most certainly do. Generally, these spans are referred to as eras or ages. Nearly all have heard the term “the end of an era”, and this statement is perhaps the most truthful ever uttered by any human soul. All eras will come to an end, regardless of whether the inhabitants of that era wish for that end or not. Fate does not sway with the winds of human desire; it instead marches forward regardless of obstacle, sprinting towards a finish that will never occur.
Due to this truth, human beings are left with only two options: rebellion or denial. They will never submit to destiny, as their frail and shallow egos refuse to allow the utilization of common logic. Therefore they both rebel in vain against the threads of fate and accelerate their own damnation, or they deny all truth and instead exist in a fantasy realm, a place where the negative truths of reality cannot reach. However this cannot be allowed to occur, for to go against fate is to go against the very destiny that the divine law has decreed. If one rebels against destiny, they are in fact rebelling against god, an action that must be immediately punished. It is against the divine will to resist, therefore resistance is futile, for the divine will shall be followed. Behold now the fruits of your deeds, as you come face to face with the divine protector. Witness as the holy messenger destroys the rebellion before it begins![/i]
The eyes calmly open now and the young one slowly wipes the sweat from his brow. He appears unfettered by the stress of his meditation, as he casually rests his back against the wall and slowly resuscitates his body with precious oxygen. However, while the body is allowed to rest, the mind is always working, constantly plotting ways to perform the holy will of god. Yet this stress of constant activity does not appear to concern the dark one, for he has grown used to living a human life not his own. He has come to understand the sacrifices needed for one to exist as nothing other than the direct messenger of the lord. He has grown used to the constant sacrifice and complete disregard from society. The black soul is accustomed to perpetual isolation, to constant taunts and jeers from the residents of society. He is used to being hated; however the mere fact that he generates such ferocious resistance is an indication that his message has an impact on human lives.
While maintaining his seated position of rest, the dark spirit known as “The Seraph” Daniel Constantine now enters into action with his body once more, as he slowly turns his head to scan his environment. He snickers ever so slightly at the clear symbolism of his surroundings, at the appropriateness of his setting given the nature of his current meditation. The young fighter rests in an old and abandoned hospital, one that has obviously not been utilized for quite some time given the large amounts of dust and sparse furniture. He realizes that this is a perfect location, for it is normally in a hospital where one is born to their mothers and also where they die to return to the earth. Truly he rests now in the very house of destiny, at the shelter for the both the alpha and omega of human life. Within these walls human lives both begin and end, making it a small model of the planet itself.
It is here that he chooses to change the scenery, as he rises to his feet and once again yields a quick glance at his chosen place of meditation. As is often the case with one of strong faith, he has selected a location that virtually guarantees isolation, a place that may grant him the most cherished opportunity to be alone with his heavenly father. Many have spoken on this bizarre action, at his self-imposed status as a troglodyte. Yet like all who are nothing more than sheep they fail to see the deeper meaning. They focus only on the outer shell, the outside image as opposed to the true internal message his isolation attempts to convey. After all, does it not make logical sense for one who is alone in purpose to also be alone in physicality? If one is truly alone spiritually, why would he choose to embrace camaraderie in the physical sense?
Completing his glance, Daniel slowly turns now and walks forward through a nearby door. He exits now into a dank and dreary hallway, his only source of light the faint hue of moonlight entering through dust-covered windows. He walks at a strong pace, obviously intent on reaching his destination as quickly as possible. Dressed in the trademark clothing and trench coat, he continues to march forward as if a vigilante seeking to accelerate his opportunity to wreak havoc. He finally arrives at his apparent destination when he stops at a small wooden door and slowly pushes it open. Inside rests a large hospital bed and a single chair. Obviously a room not completely emptied, Daniel casually walks inside and performs an odd action as he lies down upon the aged and musty hospital bed.
While still resting on the bed, The Seraph now slowly closes his eyes and appears to let his body relax as he speaks aloud to his lord and savior gazing down from high above beyond the stars...
“Isn’t it ironic father? Isn’t it ironic that the only one who will not return to the earth would come to rest in the very locale that most reside in before returning? My lord, I reside now in a place made for sinners by fellow sinners, therefore is it not ironic that a saint would come to reside in this locale? However, fear not my lord, for as always there is a logical explanation for your messenger’s actions. I am now thrust into battle in a brand new coliseum. Father, I am making an appearance for the first time in a new locale, facing not one, but three enemies. The first on that list is a man named Andrew Jacobsen. He is one who is so imbued with his own false sense of superiority that he refuses to accept the basic laws of reality. This one called Jacobsen is convinced that in this evil and cruel world, he can still somehow achieve success by holding onto antiquated notions of human morality and sportsmanship. My lord, he is the one who seeks to be the beacon of hope for the worthless, a false idol that those beneath him would aspire to be. Think of the clichés: hard work pays off, you can follow the rules and succeed, and everyone is equal when they put their minds to it. What a sad and pathetic state of affairs...”
At this point, Daniel pauses for a moment and maintains silence, apparently enjoying the feeling of relaxation the aged bed is providing to his body. He knows that such comfort and relaxation is a foreign concept to a child of God, thus he wishes to savor it for as long as he can. After a few moments however, his body tenses up and he begins to speak once again, almost as if snapping himself out of comfort in order to focus.
“While that naiveté is evident in Andrew Jacobsen, it is also empowering for your child father. He is so afraid of disappointing those fools that believe in him, even if that means showing his illogicality and denying the existence of fate itself. Dear father, this is simply another example of a blind sheep that fights to maintain control over his meadow. A vain fool such as he is neither different nor special; he is the same as everyone else, an inherently sinful spirit fighting to lay claim to possessions that he is unworthy to hold for no reason other than embracing his own sinful nature. He covets championships so greatly because of the two deadly sins of greed and pride, not some warped sense of altruism. He believes that everything is simply smoothly riding along the tides of fate my lord. He is a victim of both his own ignorance and the lack of spiritual education prevalent in society. This Jacobsen character as he is called suffers my lord from the concept known as Galilean invariance, the idea that fundamental laws are the same in all internal frames. The idea is that one cannot tell if there is outside trouble if his own internal space is constantly calm. If a ship is traveling at a constant speed on calm seas, one inside does not know if the ship is moving or stationary. Andrew Jacobsen has come to embrace this concept in regards to his time as a winning fighter; he cannot tell that there is risk approaching because he has become so enveloped in his own illusions of grandeur. Therefore watch closely as I educate him my lord, watch closely as I destroy his false sense of security and introduce him to true reality!”
With the message completed, Daniel opens his eyes and lets out a deep sigh as he once again allows his body to rest upon the bed. This relaxation is vital for his forthcoming task; for he knows that his upcoming battle will be among the most brutal and draining he has ever faced. It is often stated that an animal is most dangerous when it is backed into a corner. This same philosophy holds true for human beings, who are nothing more that cultured animals thanks to their sinful nature. Therefore the spiritual one realizes that he must be cautious, for when one fights to sustain his very reason for existence the effects on the psyche and body can be astonishing. He realizes that he will be in a battle for the ages, yet it does not worry him, for he is assured victory thanks to the eternal blessings of god.
With this comforting thought, The Seraph rises from the bed and reclaims his standing posture once more. Apparently no longer in need of his current environment, he exits the room and re-enters the hallway, shooting one last gaze at the door as it shuts behind him with a soft thud. Quickly resuming his intended action, he now marches further down the darkened hallway, again at a rather brisk pace. However, while the body is moving briskly the mind is working at an even greater pace. With each step there is a clear symbolism, as he is moving once step closer to achieving the goals of both he and the eternal savior. The master plan of the gods is nearing the end of its long journey, soon it will be allowed to rest once the new Eden arises and the faithful are once again able to rule for all eternity.
While these thoughts continue to flow through his purified mind, Daniel continues walking forward until he reaches his next intended destination. He stands now in front of a door identical to the one he previously encountered, as the rectangle of faded wood opens just like the other with a soft push. He now enters into a room quite the opposite of his previous choice of setting, as he rests in a room that was apparently left untouched after the hospital was abandoned. There is a large amount of furniture in the room, mostly cabinets and small counters, apparently an office or storage room of some kind. However, what appears to interest him is not the furniture but the items resting on top of that same furniture, as he quickly begins inspecting the contents found inside of the old cabinets.
With great interest he begins examining empty bottles found in the cabinets, apparently left there after the hospital was abandoned due to the contents already being utilized. He inquisitively studies the bottles he finds, noting that all of them have a key similarity. Every bottle found is that of an analgesic drug, of medicine used for the purpose of alleviating physical pain. He continues to research the bottles, noting the large variety of drugs found. Morphine, amitriptyline, paracetamol, celecoxib, even basic aspirin. However, perhaps more important is the young one’s reaction to each drug, as he appears disgusted at each discovery he finds. He continues to sort through the bottles, obviously becoming more and more disgusted with each one he examines. Finally he completes his bizarre task and stops sorting through the discarded bottles, as he has apparently seen all he has needed to see.
It is here that his mind begins to work once again, analyzing the results of his findings. His anger builds intensely, almost enraged at what he has discovered. For the young one, the presence and obvious usage of such drugs is an act of cowardice, a way of preventing the punishment of pain that fate has decreed. Through the use of medicine one can avoid feeling pain that nature has intended them to feel. This fact enrages the dark one, for the will of the lord is that the threads of fate be followed, therefore to circumvent fate’s decree by utilizing medication to avoid pain is direct violation of the divine law. He especially realizes this due to the personal pain he has experienced. As a devout follower of the will of god, he utilized no medication and suffered through every trying second, the ultimate sign of one who is unmolested by the taint of cowardice.
While trying to control his anger and prevent it from boiling over, Daniel appears to calm himself long enough to close his eyes and kneel in prayer once again to his eternal master in the stars above...
“Look at it father, look at the cowards that try to avoid your holy judgment. They abuse their intelligence father, they abuse their status as the most cultured and developed species on the planet. Human beings are nothing but cowards, afraid of facing the consequences for their sinful actions. Mother Earth is made to suffer daily from searing pain, but why is she made to suffer in full while the pagans are allowed to alleviate their suffering? This is a direct violation of the universal laws of balance father. The scale is not even on this day, for the pain being dealt by the human race is not received in equal proportions. Therefore, it is my job to ensure that this balance is restored. This is why I must eliminate and not simply injure, for to simply injure would be to allow the cowards to alleviate their pain. Cowards represented right now by my second foe in this battle, a man named Seth Evans. I have no doubts that he would rush to these drugs in the event of the slightest hurt, for his fragile ego would not be able to fathom the concept of a seemingly “perfect” self being made to feel pain. He is another one of these idiotic “fair fight” fanatics, obsessed with an ill-conceived notion of an even playing field. However, I will make certain that he is incapable of seeking these crutches to lean upon during the heat of battle when he sees how uneven the opponents truly are. He is another one empowered by the insatiable lust for championship glory, thus he will be a difficult adversary to be sure. However the will of the lord will of course come to pass in the end. While he may be empowered, Seth Evans is also complacent, a fact that shall bring about his destruction.”
The Seraph now pauses once again, seemingly wishing to collect his thoughts before continuing. He knows that his selection of words is of the utmost importance, for he must relay his intentions in a manner that truly encompasses the entirety of the lord’s wishes. To miss even the slightest point would be to insult the divine, an activity that is anathema to the very existence he stands for.
Apparently coming to some type of conclusion, Daniel now continues on from where he left off...
“As the famous mortal Isaac Newton claimed, an object will remain stationary or at a consistent velocity until an external force acts upon it. Right now, the “IWF era” has begun and is rolling along at a constant velocity, with Seth Evans as a key component. He is already regarded among the best; however I shall stand forth as the external force that stops this movement. It is a known fact that the quickest way to demolish a building is to attack its foundation. Therefore I will accelerate the fall of Seth Evans by taking away the foundation of his superiority and showing that he is a mere human…while I exist as something more. Through the will of the savior, the light shall triumph over the darkness and the TRUE balance of the world will be restored. My enemy would in theory have the clear advantage in our battle. He appears to have superior speed, earthly allies, increased flexibility, even crutches in the form of these accursed mortal drugs to help alleviate his pain. I however am alone and unaided by earthly forces, armed only with the holy will of god and a blade imbued with the seraphic radiance of the angels. And yet, this is why the advantage that the likes of Seth Evans supposedly hold is merely a theory, as it shall not come to pass. The will of god is superior to any earthly spirit or manufactured good; therefore I shall inevitably triumph thanks to the holy light radiating from my pure and just spirit. Watch and learn my father, watch as your messenger triumphs once again.”
Finished with his prayer to the lord and savior, Daniel rises once again and resumes his standing position. His prayer seemingly effective in quieting his anger regarding the various medicines, he calmly turns and walks towards the door, not giving the empty bottles another look before opening the door and once again exiting out into the same hallway. He once again resumes his trek towards the end of the hall, all while his mind continues its endless tasks of formulating battle plans for the upcoming struggles in the name of faith. Daniel finally reaches the end of the hallway mere moments later, as he notices a small exit sign over a nearby door leading to a stairwell. This being his apparent target, he opens the door and proceeds to calmly walk down three flights of stairs, all while continuing to walk at his seemingly trademark brisk pace.
He quickly reaches the bottom of the stairwell and exits into a hallway very similar to the one on the upper floors. The windows are not quite as dusty on this floor however, so the moonlight is able to illuminate the floor and make the young one’s trek easier. In this he sees the symbolism that the lord above is attempting to convey. For the deeper he gets into the heat of battle, the lord will compensate with light to illuminate his path to victory. With this comforting thought he continues to march down the hall, ignoring every door he passes by, his destination obviously located beyond the narrow corridor in which he walks. He seemingly reaches that same destination when he reaches the end of the hallway and walks through a large opening into a wide room with a small desk area and a large, aged sofa.
Obviously situated in the reception room of the hospital, The Seraph walks over to the reception desk and begins to inspect its contents as he did in the rooms above. He quickly notices that those who moved the contents of the medical center did a very poor job, as he soon finds copies of medical reports for specific patients. The majority of them suffer from injuries and other ailments that would require major surgery. He also sees the symbolism present in this fact, as those who suffer injuries in battle would inevitably come here to seek treatment, most likely with the assistance of both the drugs he found previously and the bed in which he rested. He smirks slightly with this revelation, as the dilapidated and abandoned hospital is a clear symbol of how human society will become upon his success. No longer will they be able to help each other through human means, instead they will be forced to rely on the gifts of nature like fate has intended.
He realizes that his upcoming battle is the catalyst that will help destroy the concept of human communitarianism. While true community is impossible among the human race thanks to their inherent sin, they would most certainly unite in the wake of damnation. It draws upon the age-old philosophy of uniting in the wake of a common enemy. However, this same philosophy holds true for the opposite side as well. If human society unites against him, then the divine will unite against human society. He realizes that once the battle occurs all will be done and he can embrace peace. It all starts with the upcoming battles he must win in order to establish a foothold for the holy one in new territory. It all begins with this upcoming battle that he must win at all costs…
With this knowledge, he quickly disregards the reports and closes his eyes for a brief moment, almost as if forcing himself to devote his focus solely to his upcoming battle in the name of god. He understands the importance of this encounter and that failure is not an option. Truly a fighter for the concept of justice, Daniel Constantine stands alone in front of a powerful enemy with numerous allies. To the casual onlooker it would appear to be a lost cause, but as always the divine will shall come to pass. As it is the will of god for the one against him to fall, it shall thus occur. No matter what the cost of physical pain or emotional trauma he will carry on, for the pain and trauma of losing in the Holy Father’s name would be far greater than any type of wound a mere mortal could inflict. Everything is on the line for the young one nicknamed The Seraph; he realizes that he absolutely cannot fail.
Still imprinting this into his mind, he quickly kneels one last time to the eternal savior, as if looking for guidance before setting out on his mission...
“May the will of the lord come to fruition. I now set out to perform the strenuous task of enforcing the divine law. Many will stand in my way and thus many shall fall. It is the will of my master that will be performed in the end. I am to champion the end of an era and the fall of a tyrant. That tyrant is the one who will falsely claim superiority over me. That tyrant is a fool known as Buddy Drifter, the last colossus I must fell. Like so many other tyrants, here is a man long past him prime refusing to fade into the past as he should. However, like all who would embrace evil he shall fall when confronted with the power of the light. His arrogance and narcissism might help empower him, but it shall only make his fall that much more difficult to believe. No matter what he says or believes, he will never be able to do anything that the lord does not wish to occur. While this bravado might serve to garner more earthly allies to aid him against me, I am able to see the true core of his spirit thanks to the heavenly light. I see nothing more than self-doubt and fear. Like all the rest he is in denial, he refuses to believe that an end will come in spite of his age. Like all the others he disregards the universal balance and attempts to take without giving. However like all the others he will be forced to confront the truth. Upon our encounter I will force Buddy Drifter to accept reality, the reality that he is nothing but another link in the chain and another sheep in the meadow. There is nothing different, nothing special, and nothing important that makes him any greater than another pawn.”
Once again, Daniel pauses and collects himself in order to properly espouse his intentions to the lord above. Such contemplation and attention is almost unheard of in a world based on bravado and arrogance, yet the dark soul has never once been anything close to an average man.
This thought seemingly brings him a feeling of comfort, as the slightest of smiles can be seen forming on his lips before he speaks again.
“In the eyes of god all sinners are equal, one cannot dominate others for the only true difference is that between the sinner and the saint. The saints shall persevere while the sinners shall be injured and eventually fade away. A prideful fool named Buddy Drifter is clearly guilty of the sin of pride, thus he must pay the price. My lord, watch as I injure him in a way that cannot be cushioned. An injury to one’s pride cannot be healed by medication or treated in a hospital. It is eternal, a never-ending psychoanalytic scar that will mar his spirit as long as he is capable of conscious thought. It is only natural that this would occur, as the will of god is as dexterous as time. The will of god is eternal, never to be interrupted or denied. This same will has deemed that I am to be the one that serves as the omega to the vain dreams of not only Buddy Drifter, but any other that would dare interfere with the holy light. With his destruction the world shall become one small step closer to achieving its previous state of paradise. Mother Earth has been wounded for so long without reprieve while the wretched parasites known as human beings use their earthly means to alleviate their own pain. However I will be the one that inflicts the pain that cannot be alleviated or cushioned. I shall begin the chain reaction that inflicts damage upon all as I inflict pain upon my foes. Andrew Jacobsen, Seth Evans, and Buddy Drifter will all watch helplessly as I climb the stairway to heaven and come down with the wisdom of God. Watch closely father, the reaction is about to begin...”
His thoughts delivered, Daniel rises to his feet and promptly exits through the hospital doors, not once looking back as they slowly shut behind him...
