As they say,
Where one door closes, another opens.
I was in NCW for a little over a year and a half, and in that year and a half I became an even bigger name than I already was in the wrestling community. Why do I say bigger? I say bigger because NCW had the biggest collection of talent that I’ve ever seen. That, along with the urging of one Bob Pooler, is what brought me to NCW. I watched and watched and as soon as I knew that NCW was the best place for me, I joined and became a record breaking star. I held the Honor Title longer than anyone in history. I held that belt so long that I retired said championship. I then won the X Title at the same time as holding the Honor title becoming the only man EVER to hold two titles simultaneously in that organization. I then held that title longer than anyone. NCW was good to me all the way up until the end when I beat Trent Helms at A Night To Remember, making him TAP OUT! That night was a glorious night and I did exactly what I said I would do and I made it memorable on the grandest of all stages. I took the show to a whole new level that nobody could match because that’s what I’m good at.
At the end of that night though, NCW was closed. That last light went out as we exited the building and strangely enough it didn’t feel like the end of anything, and perhaps…it’s not. Perhaps NCW lives on because now that the door is closed on A Night To Remember, we now have the Imperial Wrestling Federation. We now have Monday Night Sacrifice.
The name is rather ironic as it seems that IWF was born through the sacrifices made by all of those in NCW and the sacrifices made by those who owned NCW and sacrificed their lives to make that company exactly what it is.
So now, we get down to business. On the first ever Monday Night Sacrifice, we have a trainer and trainee match. Myself, and my trainee Ashley Mastrangelo against Brad Kane and his trainee, Tifa Heafy.
I’ll leave Tifa to Ashley, as I know from the lore and what I’ve seen myself in NCW, I’ll have my hands full with one Brad Kane.
Nobody has heard this before, but from the moment I stepped into NCW and now here in IWF, I’ve had a list. A bucket list of sorts. There were always people who stood out to me. When I saw them wrestle or perform in that ring, I knew I wanted to be better than them. I knew in my heart that I was, and I wanted to show the world that I was. The Kane brothers are on that list.
Ever since I dropped Spike on concrete when I was feuding with his protégé Atreyu, I thought I was that close to finally getting one of the matches on my list. There’s two left on that list and in a different shape I’ll get to cross one off. Instead of Spike, I get his brother Brad.
Brad, at the end you mentioned respect and I tell you now, I have nothing but for either of you. There’s really no personal vendetta. I have something to prove and both you and your brother are a part of that.
Injuries come and go Brad and I have no reason to call you a coward. For you see, every time you left, you came back with a vengeance that is rivaled by none, and you kicked ass. That’s the biggest part of you I respect. That is one of the reasons you’re on my list. That is what makes YOU stand out. That’s what makes you NEXT on my list.

Title: Where One Door Closes…
Location: Cowboys Stadium, Arlington, Texas
Time: 10:00 PM Local Time (A Night To Remember)
Mike Laszlo: I just did the unthinkable. I don’t doubt that I was the underdog against Trent Helms at A Night To Remember. I had my supporters, sure. The odds weren’t overwhelming, as far as winning goes. How about how I won though? Who in their right mind would have thought that I made Trent Helms TAP OUT at A Night To Remember? From what I’m told, it’s only happened one other time. That makes this night MY Night To Remember.
As I say these words to Alexis she nods and smiles as we head through the backstage area to our dressing room. Rather than take the usual post-match shower right away I have no choice but to fall back onto the couch in the room out of exhaustion. Breathing heavily, I close my eyes and just take that moment. You know what one I’m talking about. That moment where everything goes away and you hear nothing. Yeah, that moment.
That moment though is interrupted by my loving girlfriend who literally jumps on to the couch causing a stir that makes me open my eyes and look in her direction as she sits there with that cute smile on her face.
Mike Laszlo: What is it?
Alexis Caffrey: I love you.
Mike Laszlo: I love me too, but I love you more. Still, you have that look…what is it?
Alexis Caffrey: I did something for you.
Mike Laszlo: Oh?
Alexis Caffrey: (Scooting a bit closer to explain her actions.) I signed you a contract.
Mike Laszlo: A contract? NCW literally closes tonight and you already have me a new contract?
Alexis Caffrey: Yup. Proves how good I am at my job.
Mike Laszlo: There was never a question of that. Who’s it with?
Alexis Caffrey: Well, you know that IWF promotion that bought NCW?
Mike Laszlo: Yeah.
Alexis Caffrey: It’s with them.
Mike Laszlo: Oh, so really, I’m just transferring over as an asset with the company.
Alexis Caffrey: Pretty much. They saw you as a high profile figure.
Mike Laszlo: And rightfully so.
Alexis Caffrey: Of course. They already released their first card.
Mike Laszlo: Really? Already? Damn, these people move quickly.
Alexis Caffrey: They do. Also at her request I got Ashley a job too.
Mike Laszlo: Well look at you racking up the clientele.
Alexis Caffrey: Like we said, I’m good at my job. Anyway, you and her are teaming up on a Monday show called Sacrifice to take on another Trainer/Trainee couple.
Mike Laszlo: Really? Who?
Alexis Caffrey: Brad Kane and Tifa Heafy.
Mike Laszlo: Brad…Brad Kane?
Alexis Caffrey: Yup.
Mike Laszlo: That lunatic is on my list.
Alexis Caffrey: People you wanted to face?
Mike Laszlo: Yeah. I guess Monday, we cross off another name.
Alexis Caffrey: Now to the important part…
Mike Laszlo: Huh?
Alexis Caffrey: When do I get to wrestle?
Mike Laszlo: Oh geez. Ashley took two years to train and even then she wasn’t ready. You’ve been at it for less than a year. Your time will come, I promise.
She looks at me with a sad puppy dog look before I pull her closer and lay a big kiss right on her lovely lips, quickly turning that frown upside down. I then get up and head for the shower as the scene fades.
====================
Brad, Tifa, this isn’t personal, far from it.
This is actually a good thing for the lot of us.
Brad and I as men who have trained these two young women, finally get to see if all of our hard work has paid off or not. We see if our instructions were warranted, and our craft transferred.
For the two of you, it’s a chance to do what we’ve already done. It’s a chance for you to make names for yourselves. It’s a chance for the two of you to start your own legacies.
Brad and I will go to war because that’s what we as professional wrestlers do. We will go into this thing to see who on this night is better, and I want each of you to do the same.
Monday Night on Sacrifice, we see the next group of professional wrestling take form and we continue to do what it is we do…entertain.
Where one door closes, another opens.
