(IWF.com camera crew caught up with an exhausted Mercedes Vargas backstage at Glendale's Jobing.com Arena following her Ruby Championship triple threat match with Jennifer Famularo and Alice Pleasant. Hear what the Argentine Assassin had to say about her match and her reaction from Sacrifice in this exclusive interview.)

{Alice staggers to her feet and Jenny turns, spearing her through the middle rope and they both land on the outside, Alice’s head connects with the steel steps and she is out cold as Jenny slowly gets up and rolls back into the ring.}
Terri Morasco: OW! That had to hurt.
Vasco Diaz: Alice is out right now, leaving just Jenny and Mercedes in the running for the title...
{Renee rounds the ring and stands over his sister, he doesn’t move to check on her but instead looms above her, yelling at her to get up... Screaming at her from above.
Mercedes catches Jenny on her roll back into the ring and stomps down on Jenny’s head keeping her down. Mercedes backs up a couple of steps allowing Jenny to get to her feet before she lands a Tilt-a-Whirl DDT.
Mercedes then starts pressing her boot to the throat of Jenny, choking her. Jenny scratches and grabs at the foot of Mercedes as the official steps forward, beginning a count, forcing Mercedes to release Jenny and step back, before jumping back forward to smash a knee to the face of Jenny with a quick knee drop. Jenny partially rolls out of the way though and Mercedes takes some of the impact to her knee.}
Vasco Diaz: These two ladies are relentless right now...
Terri Monaso: This is a real show of wrestling ability right now...
{Both ladies start to get to their feet, Mercedes a little quicker but both slowed from the fast pace of the match.
Renee grabs Alice up from the floor by her hair, getting in her face he starts screaming at her... As this is going on outside the ring, Mercedes capitalizes on the distraction and grabs Jenny from behind, rolling her up across the ring into a school girl pin.

As the referee calls for the bell, Mercedes jumps up and throws her arms up in the air, bouncing on the spot with a huge grin on her face. Alice turns and stares into the ring a look of shock as she just shakes her head.}
Alison Valance: Here is your winner and NEEEEEEEW IWF Ruby Champion... MERCEEEEEDEEEES VAAAARGAAAAS!!!
Terri Monasco: And we have a NEW Ruby Champion!!
Vasco Diaz: Alice does not look happy with Renee right now... But congratulations to Mercedes, a hard fought for victory there!

Our scene fades on Mercedes being handed the Ruby Championship by the referee and her hand raised in victory and transitions now to backstage where IWF interviewer Maria Iniesta is standing next to Mercedes who is carrying the Ruby Championship over her shoulder. She's all smiles following her match this night.
Maria Iniesta: I'm here for IWF.com with my guest, the new IWF Ruby Champion, Mercedes Vargas. Mercedes, first off, congratulations on the big win. You pulled out all the stops tonight in your triple threat match with Alice and Jenny, and you even pinned the champion to finally capture the gold. What are you going to do next?
Mercedes Vargas: Does “I'm going to Disney World” still count as an answer? (laughing) No, but really, I'm not really sure.
Maria Iniesta: Clearly, you came in not at 100%. You were already banged up with bruised ribs ahead of your match following two separate incidents. Eternity left you unconscious after she put you through a flaming table two weeks ago in your rematch that you loss by referee decision and you received a chokeslam from Christine Rochette in a tag team win last week, which may have further aggravated your injury. How did that effect the outcome for tonight?
Mercedes Vargas: Well, my injury did bother me during the match, I won't lie, but inside the ring, all the adrenaline helped me forget about it for a while. I know that I'm going to be reminded of it when I sleep tonight, but, uh, after this, (looking at the championship then back to Maria) I think I'm going to rest a little bit easier.
Maria Iniesta: I'm sure you will. When Jennifer Famularo won the then-vacant championship at Danger Zone, she became the first former NCW Starlets Champion to win the Ruby Championship. After your win, Mercedes, how does it feel to be the first former NCW Starlets Tag Team Champion to win the Ruby Championship?
Mercedes Vargas: I feel like I accomplished something with my win tonight and making history made it all the more worthwhile. I can now say that I've finally won a singles championship in IWF, something I couldn't do in NCW.
Maria Iniesta: Well, there is no rest for the weary. As you well know, Jenny Famularo is entitled to a rematch down the road, and I'm sure there are other Diamonds who are waiting in the wings for their title shot at some point. Any last words for Jenny and possible challengers before I let you go?
Mercedes Vargas: I welcome all challengers to try and take this title off of me. If Alice wants to step up and go another round, I'm all for it.
(Mercedes turns to the camera.)
Mercedes Vargas: And Jenny, I'm pretty sure this won't be the last we'll be seeing each other, so whenever you're ready to come back for this, (she pats the Ruby Championship) I'll be more than happy to give you that rematch.
After these words, Maria takes back the microphone and faces the camera.
Maria Iniesta: This Thursday night, don't forget to tune in to Battlegrounds as this is the final show before High Stakes. The Diamonds are in action as April Maddox goes up against Desiree St. James, Todd Williams takes on Daniel Spector in a Man of Steel match, and in an Extreme Rules match in the main event, it will be Gjenrei versus Muru versus Xavier Cross.
