This past Monday on Sacrifice saw one of the most controversial and risky moves made yet by Imperial Wrestling Federation CEO, Simon De Montford who has sanctioned the expansion of the IWF Tag Team Division not by scouting new talent from the global pool of young wrestlers and tag teams for the floundering division as many prominent shareholders were expecting, but rather by rebranding and repackaging the whole division into a brand new tag trio concept.
Nobody is quite sure where the idea for a mandatorily mixed tag division came from, but some sources close to De Montford say it might have something to do with the British Billionaire's unashamed love for late 90's teen sitcom, Two Guys, A Girl and A Pizza Place. They go on to claim that "He [De Montford] would have added the ruling that the title must be defended within walking distance of a Pizza Hut or at the very least a Domino's, but reconsidered the idea at the last moment because he didn't want to make the division too restrictive or appear culturally insensitive to the plight of Roberto Verona or his people..."
Whilst the proud Italian COO declined to comment, social media exploded moments after the announcement with many fans voicing their outrage over the new rules of a division they simply cannot understand. Below are some of their disgruntled tweets.
@alexross Tag Team Wrestling is dead, it has been dead since Infamous lost. Give it up guys! #StillInfamous #triumvirate
@billygunn Two heads are better than one, so three must be best #IWFlogic #triumvirate
@markw How do you get a dead horse back up on its feet, give it more legs according to Simon De Montford! #triumvirate
@katcrox This sucks! It should have been a mixed tag belt so we can see some great power couples earn glory! #triumvirate
@4evaalone Being a wrestling fan I have a hard enough time getting a girl for myself, so I have to sympathise with the Brothers Black. Terrible decision IWF! #triumvirate
@senselessviolence It is obvious Simon is not listing to the fans anymore, I'm boycotting this BS! #triumvirate #boycottIWF
In the couple of days that have passed since the announcement, some wrestling sites are reporting that Simon De Montford is so infatuated with the idea that having more people in a team automatically makes it better, that he is now considering a Six Person (4 Superstars and 2 Diamonds) Hexagonal Challenge World title belt to debut at the next annual Survival Of The Fittest PPV so that the teams of Champions and Challengers all remain truly equal by fighting for one title between them in the annual Extinction Event extravaganza.
