My hands were going to be full on Bloody Assizes, that’s for sure. Two big opportunities in one night; a chance to walk out as the first-ever Heavyweight Champion in IWF history, and a chance to be entered into the Heir to the Throne tournament to crown the first-ever Imperial Champion --- decision, decisions. Tapping my finger against my chin, I lifted my head to ponder the possible outcomes that could happen this Sunday. Just one day.
“There are two ways that Bloody Assizes can end for me. The number one way is that I walk out of the event as the first-ever champion of the Heavyweight Division! I’ll be waging war with Andrew Jacobsen, Xavier Cross, The Ace, and Mike Laszlo; all of us wanting to walk out with that belt being worn around our own waist, all of us wanting to stamp our legacy into the record books of the Imperial Wrestling Federation! There’s no denying that we all want that championship, but Simon de Montfort gave all of us a back-up plan --- a better… back-up plan.
A chance to be entered into the Heir to the Throne tournament to crown the first-ever Imperial Champion.
That’s the big deal around here. That’s what everybody who signed their name on the dotted line is fighting for; not the Survivor’s, not the Cruiserweight, not the Man of Steel, and not even the Heavyweight Championships; the Imperial Championship.”
Smiling from ear to ear, knowing that I have two opportunities this Sunday. If I don’t make one, you can bet your ass that I’m not going to miss twice, especially in the same night.
“The Imperial Wrestling Federation was founded upon three divisions; you have the Cruiserweight division which holds all of the wrestlers under two-hundred-thirty pounds… You have the Man of Steel division which has no weight limit… And you have the Heavyweight division, which is for people two-hundred-thirty pounds or more. Now, throughout my career, I’ve been described as a daredevil; one of the quicker people inside of the ring. Everybody knows that I can go from zero to sixty in mere seconds. I’ve been trained by one of the best technical wrestlers that this industry has ever known, and have expanded my skill beyond the majority of the people that I step into the ring with! Many people underestimate me because this had previously been viewed as my secondary skill, but I know what I’m doing inside of the ring... What does each division stand for, though? What makes each division different, besides weight?
The cruiserweight division has been based around competitors that are able to keep a very fast pace inside of the ring; keep things moving. These are the people that can leap, in one single bound, from the mat to the top rope --- and leap over halfway across the ring to take down their opponent! The shock value the explosive action that these competitors can bring to the ring; their fearless nature. There are so many factors that people have to look at to realize just how great the Cruiserweight Division truly is!”
Nodding my head to the thought of the Cruiserweight Division, I remember my days of old where I would have been in the Cruiserweight Division rather than the Heavyweight Division, and would’ve been flying around the ring.
“This is a division that I am familiar with.”
The next division comes to mind, and it’s something that truly did sound interesting to me --- something that I’m not eliminated from participating in, but not the one that I’ve been put into.
“The Man of Steel Division is based around technical skill as well as skill that we possess in the submission ability. Every match in the Man of Steel division must end by either a man being unable to answer a ten count, or by the more popular reason, forcing them to tap out. You can name any part of the body, and I guarantee that I can find a hold to be able to put them in! You can attack me with any move that you have in your arsenal, and I guarantee that I will find a way to reverse it! I know how to force people to play my game, and force them to walk into their own demise.”
The technical wrestling has truly become my favorite; there are a number of astounding wrestlers throughout the industry that truly became great wrestlers just by their ability in technical wrestling and knowledge of various holds.
“This is a division that I am familiar with.”
I nod my head again, knowing that I could handle the very best in the Man of Steel division and win. There was a small look of concern and confusion that came to my face while thinking about the next division, the one where I was given a chance to become the very first champion of.
“The last division is the division that I’ve been placed in… headed by Will Washington. What is the Heavyweight Division all about? Well, if you think about the traditional values that heavyweight wrestling has possessed --- it has all been about power. The person that can hit the hardest, lift the most, who is the most powerful! We have people like Xander Famularo, Deathtrain, Eirik Ragnar, and Jackhammer --- all of them represent the classic way that heavyweight wrestling has been presented! All of them possess power much higher than the likes of me, Andrew Jacobsen, Xavier Cross, and Trent Helms. This is a division that I’m not as familiar with --- but with the likes of people like us, we have a chance to truly redefine the heavyweight division in professional wrestling.”
Excitement filled my voice, the excitement that I had in the chance to help the rest of the Heavyweight Division truly bring something new and different to these people --- it was going to be difficult facing people that could be viewed as much larger than me, but I’ve faced giants and conquered them in the past. I would be able to do it, again.
“This is why the Heavyweight Division is going to be the division that everybody looks to! When you think of future Imperial Champions, your mind is going to go directly to people coming in from the Heavyweight Division. That’s why when the battle royal occurs this Sunday, assuming that I’m not walking out with the Heavyweight Championship around my waist; I’m going to walk out as not just a qualifier for the Heir to the Throne tournament… I’m going to walk out as the winner of the battle royal, and the number one seed in the Heir to the Throne tournament.”
I allow myself to smirk to the camera as my eyes lower some.
“But…”
I lift my eyes back up to look into the camera.
“I don’t want you to call me a quitter; I still intend on walking out of Bloody Assizes as the brand new Heavyweight Champion! But whether I’m able to or not, I’m looking forward. I’m looking forward to my opportunity to walk out as one of the entrants to the Heir to the Throne, and looking forward to my chance as walking out as the very first…
Imperial. Champion.”
Scene fades.
