"Easy to feed off a weaker thing"
[Rhodes suffered a defeat but he did not get beat. The benefits of a triple threat match where a loss is not really a loss. Next on the agenda? Corey Lazarus, another guy with a short resume in the IWF. This time it will either be Jason's first win or his first true loss.]
Jason is sitting on the edge of his bed slumped over with boths hands on his waist. Looking down he hears footsteps entering his bedroom.
Womans Voice: You gonna get up?
Jason looks up and and smiles sees his wife Regina. Jason stands up and stretches as he makes his way over to her.
Jason: I suppose so.
Jason kisses her on her cheek as he leaves the room and goes downstairs.
[Regina Rhodes has been married to Jason for 15 years. She has seem him at the height of his career as a young budding star and at the lowest point after numerous surgeries that forced him to retire at age 25. She has stuck with him through everything and the only person to know what makes Jason tick]
Jason is at the bar eatting a bowl of cinnamon toast crunch and watching Sports Center to catch up on the happenings of last night. Regina makes her way to the kitchen and begins to make her a bowl of CTC as well.
Jason: I hate triple threat matches. It's a lot like driving. It doesn't matter how good you are or how careful you are. If there is another idiot on the road you can still have a wreck. And it looks like David Shane was that idiot. Nevertheless, that match is over with and I'll have my shot at Mike Madness soon enough.
Regina: Yeah that David guy got rolled pretty good. So who do you have this week?
Jason: A man by the name of Corey Lazarus. Like those other two I don't know much about him. I should probably do some research.
Jason smiles at the thought of doing research on his opponent. It's never been his style as he is all about instinct.
Jason: Either way I feel more confident now that it's a one on one match and I don't have to worry about anyone else. It makes things a lot easier.
Regina: Well I'm glad your confident baby.
Regina finishes her bowl and puts it in the sink. She runs her hand across Jasons's shoulders as she heads back to their room. Jason picks up the box of CTC to pour him another bowl but realizes the box is now empty. Jason chuckles as his puts the box back on the table.
Jason: That figures. But just like this box of CTC Corey, you are empty on the inside. There is nothing about you that impresses me. You have no purpose, you have no drive, and quite honestly you seem like a flake to me. But make no mistake about it. I have purpose. I have drive. And my dedication to my craft is what will transcend me in this business. This Training Grounds is nothing but a stepping stone. A way onto bigger things. And you are the first piece to that puzzle. So when I am done with youthen hopefully that will be your wake up call to be a little more serious to your profession and a notice to the rest of the IWF that I am here. I have come.
Regina walks back into the kitchen.
Regina: Did you say something?
Jason: Huh? Oh yeah I was just working on my promo for tomorrow.
Regina: How that's coming along?
Jason: Pretty good. I decent idea of what I'm going to say. But an even better idea of what I'm going to do.
Regina: Well that's good honey.
Jason: Yeah. Hell I may just wing it. It's not like I haven't done it before.
Jason puts his bowl into the sink and begins to walk upstairs.
Jason: Ashton will be here soon. We are gonna head out a bit and maybe do some light sparring. Time to get dressed.
[One on one. Jason will finally get a chance to test himself properly. The beginning of a new era has finally arrives.]
