Going into her first Night of the Immortals PPV, Firenze Everett is ready to defend her IWF Ruby Title. Despite having a bad month, this is the fight actually counts as far as she’s concerned and she’s taking it as seriously as expected. Mixed feelings abound but the plan is simple … go in as champion, emerge as champion.
Thursday 5/28 – 12 Noon
*The scene opens up with Firenze pacing around in Sebastian Wolf’s office, the Ruby Title draped around her shoulder. She has a white leather jacket on, sunglasses on, her hair slicked back in a ponytail as she paces frantically around. Sebastian is seated in a large, black leather chair pensive about the situation.*
Firenze Everett: This month … this past month has been a disaster. First Iron Maiden … then Ana Jones … then Alexis Caffrey and last week … Kayla Richards. KAYLA … FUCKING … RICHARDS! ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?!
Sebastian Wolf: Look … calm down.
Firenze Everett: Calm down … you want me to calm down, is that right? Let’s see, 0 and 4 and I have a title defense coming up and I’m supposed to calm down? Are you fucking KIDDING ME?!
Sebastian Wolf: Look, I know it’s been a terrible month but as you’ve said yourself, those matches don’t even matter, the title was not on the line.
Firenze Everett: True.
Sebastian Wolf: The title is what matters right now. Kayla Richards does not matter, Alexis Caffrey is irrelevant, Ana Jones is of no importance right now, what counts is you fighting against Fiona McFly to ensure she gets nothing out of Night of the Immortals.
Firenze Everett: Yes I know but … this is ridiculous, what the hell has happened? I am the longest reigning Ruby Champion of all time, a great competitor and … it’s all falling apart on me. I DO NOT DESERVE THIS!
Sebastian Wolf: Just remember … the title was not on the line in those matches so whatever happened is irrelevant. On Sunday night, what happens will matter because it’s for the Ruby title. You’ll be at day 161 at Night of the Immortals and will continue setting the record for longest Ruby Title reign, at the rate you’re going, you’re sure to become the longest reigning champion in IWF history … PERIOD!
Firenze Everett: You’re … you’re right! Damn it all, you’re right! Besides, Fiona McFly is a loser, a good for nothing fluke artist. Alexis Caffrey got lucky against me, Kayla Richards well … I’ll just call that an off night where I clearly was not myself. But this week, I’m going to keep this title … THIS TITLE IS MINE and no one is taking it from me! NO ONE!
Sebastian Wolf: Exactly.
*Sebastian’s cell phone rings and he signals to Firenze that he has to take the call and steps out of the room for a moment. Firenze continues to pace around the room*
Firenze Everett: Oh Fiona … Fiona my dear … you’re not going to beat me. I don’t say that to boast, I don’t say that to be arrogant, I don’t say it to put you down, I say it simply as a statement of fact. I’ve been the Ruby Champion for 158 days thus far, the longest reigning Ruby Champion ever. Let me put this in perspective for you, I debuted in the IWF in November 2014, one month later I was a champion and I have since made this title mean something, I’ve made it credible and important again. Before me, this title meant nothing and now, everyone wants a shot at it and that’s what I don’t think you understand.
You don’t get what it means to be a champion. Two weeks ago, I watched you face Ana Jones! Mind you, I may have lost against her but I had a lot of near falls and when she finally beat me, it took a lot of out of her to do so. You … she not only tossed you around like a rag doll but at the end of the match, you tapped out … YOU QUIT! Her title was on the line so you got something I didn’t? You got a Diamond’s Title shot and what did you do? YOU QUIT! YOU FAILED! You know what that tells me? You’re a weakling who does not deserve to be a champion because you obviously don’t have it in you.
Much like your associate Mr. Gaither, you are simply a failure who does not deserve to succeed. It saddens and angers me at the same time that someone like you is granted a title shot when you clearly do not deserve it. I won’t compare you to a Mercedes Vargas because you don’t seem to suffer form as much diarrhea of the mouth but you remind me of Crystal Hilton, another woman who thought she could beat me and then what did I do? I kicked her down to the bottom where she belongs. Felicity Fade was another one? I kicked her down to the bottom and out because since then, she has not been seen in the Imperial Wrestling Federation.
*Sebastian walks back in the room as he puts his cell phone back in his pocket*
Sebastian Wolf: At least our stocks are doing well.
Firenze Everett: That’s good. You know, I’m thinking about this match on Sunday and … I think the problem this past month is I let myself go and lost my focus. But having to defend my title … I have a renewed sense of purpose with it and I simply cannot allow Fiona McFly to beat me for it because she does not deserve to hold it!
Sebastian Wolf: What about a plan B?
Firenze Everett: A plan B? Are you saying I might lose?
Sebastian Wolf: No, I don’t think you will but we have to plan for all circumstances. I can’t have you slipping into another funk like this past month.
*Firenze stops dead in her tracks and stares right into Sebastian’s eyes*
Firenze Everett: Are you saying that’s my fault?
Sebastian Wolf: No, I’m not saying that. What I’m saying is we have to plan for all possible outcomes so as to always come out victorious. The key for us is to always be a step ahead of everyone.
*Firenze looks angry at this notion*
Firenze Everett: I just don’t like the fact that you seem to have a lack of faith in me. You know I can deliver when it counts! I’ve been champion for 158 days, that’s proof of it!
Sebastian Wolf: I’m not saying I don’t have faith in you, I do. I believe in you but I just want you to think about all possible outcomes, I’m just asking you to have an emergency plan. We can work on it together.
Firenze Everett: I … as much as this pisses me off, I see your point. This past month has been … well, I get it. We’ll figure it out in the next few days, for now though, let’s focus on my retaining the Ruby Championship! I want to continue holding this title and making it more and more prestigious by the week. I will not allow what happened to me these past few weeks to ever … EVER happen to me again! I can promise you that!
Sebastian Wolf: That’s good. Let me go get some Starbucks and we can discuss the possibilities a bit later this afternoon. I’ll be back in a little bit.
*Sebastian gets up and leaves the office as Firenze smirks and takes a seat in the black, leather chair Sebastian was in as she removes the Ruby Title from her shoulder and holds it in both hands staring at it intently*
Firenze Everett: This … this title is what it’s all about this Sunday. This title is on the line and I am being forced to defend it against you Fiona McFly. Do I think you deserve the shot? Absolutely not! Do I think you’ll get anything out of it? Absolutely not. Fact is, you had a fluke in winning your shot by beating Mercedes Vargas. That’s not exactly an impressive feat considering I made quick work of that piece of shit. At that point, you were basically being handed a title shot for free in my view but in reality, it’s just fool’s gold as far as you’re concerned because you simply cannot compare to me.
I know your best friend in the whole wide world Jack Gaither will try to pump you full of hopes and dreams and you’ll try to claim that I simply don’t understand how you do things but the reality here is that hopes and dreams are not going to net you anything.
You can try and judge me much like you judge Ana and say that I simply am arrogant, brash, egotistical, closed-minded but whether you like it or not, the results speak for themselves. I’m a champion, longest reigning Ruby Champion of all time, I have the credentials to back up that my methods have worked and they have been quite successful. I’ve taken on all comers and sent them packing. Rayne thought she could beat me, she failed. Crystal Hilton thought she had me, she failed. Mercedes Vargas ran her mouth, said the record is meaningless, said that I had no shot at beating her, what did I do? I beat her and humiliated her. Since then, she has said not a single word to me or about me.
I think it’s time you learned something Fiona … life … is not fair. I understand there’s a language barrier considering that when you speak, you really should have subtitles at all times so I can understand just what the hell you’re saying; you’re not as bad as say … Reñee Pleasant but you’re damn close. But understand this and I will say it once more … life is not fair. That’s the reality of the world. In fact, for you … I’d venture to guess that life sucks and then you die will be the story of your life because you’re not going to succeed against me.
Here’s some irony for you, I used to agree with folks like you that Ana Jones was killing the division but I realized there was some wisdom in that because when it came right down to it, she and I are killing this division because the competition we’re given is clearly inferior. It is not my fault that you do not measure up, it is not my fault that you suck, it is not my fault that my previous opponents failed. So go ahead, run your mouth, make your claims but at the end of the day, you have to accept the fact that I’ve been winning and I have retained this championship in many successful title defenses for a damn long time so I must be doing something right; your approval or lack thereof is a non-sequitur as far as I’m concerned.
So this Sunday … it’s going to be a lesson for you, a few lessons in fact. You’re going to learn that life is not fair because you were given a title shot that you clearly are not prepared for; you’re going to learn that I am the greatest Ruby Champion of all time because you will have no shot against me. I don’t care what mountains you have to climb or how much you scratch and claw to reach your supposed success because none of it means a damn thing when you step into the ring against me. You don’t understand what it takes to be a real champion, a cutthroat and ruthless competitor who does whatever is necessary to win and keep a title; you’re too busy with your supposed morals and ethics and taking the high road that when it comes down to it, no one cares about.
*Firenze smirks*
Think about this Fiona … if the option to success may be less than reputable to most but it’s the only choice you’re given, then the choice is not really wrong now is it? If your only choice is the default, then you take it and you run with it. The fact is the only reason you may hate me is because I am successful and I guess that’s what separates greatness such as myself from the common trash like you.
Whether you care or not what I think of you is absolutely of no consequence to me because I will tell you all this regardless as I believe it to be fair to warn you in advance. I told you about two weeks ago that you have no shot at beating me and that your loss to Ana was a preview of things to come, I hope you remember that moment and that you enjoyed it because Sunday night, that’s what’s going to happen. You’re going to step into that ring with me and I am going to do what I always do, I am going to hurt you, then I’m going to beat you, and then I’ll get the distinct pleasure of standing over you with my Ruby Title in hand to remind you that I am and will remain something you will never be and that is a champion. Mark my words, come this Sunday, you will fail, I will succeed, and my title run will continue. You … you however, you can then cry and bitch on Twitter while I celebrate my success. Enjoy the 15 minutes of fame because this Sunday, it ends!
