I still can't believe I won even as I stagger backstage, completely out of breath and just looking for a glass of water...
I stepped into the ring with three of the toughest men in the company and somehow outlasted the talent of Mike Laszlo, the mighty damn good luck of Mike Machado and the brutality of Deathtrain...
I overcame...
And as I stumble into my locker room I don't even notice the shadow standing over me, I'm too excited. Some people wouldn't understand why, they weren't trained by the man I was trained by...
He dealt with failure a different way than most...
He didn't allow it...
And this match, this moment, no matter what happens from here on out with live on in my memory for the rest of my life...
I accomplished this on my own...
"Cable..."
{ Cable snaps out of his reverie at the sound of the voice behind him. His head whips around, his eyes locking onto those of Amber Richards. }
"What are you doing here, Amber?"
"I'm here to wrestle, duh."
{ She shoots him a cocky grin and takes a few steps closer, reaching her hand out and gently caressing the side of his face. }
"That's not what I mean and you know it."
{ He pushes her hand away and backs up. She looks genuinely offended. }
"I just came by to say hello."
"Strike two, Amber, I know you better than that."
"Yeah, you do."
{ She moves closer until Cable has no where else to back up to and his shoulders are pressed against the lockers. She reaches for his face again and gently touches his cheek. }
"Better than most."
"Why did Angel send you, isn't he busy with his 'real' family?"
{ Now she pulls her hand away and makes a "pfft" sound before turning her back to Cable. }
"He may not be your real brother, Cable, but we're the only family you've ever known."
"We were a lot of things, Amber, but we were never a family."
{ She glares coldly at the wall before her. }
"No, you reserved that place in your heart for someone else... How is Abby, by the way?"
"Please get out."
{ She laughs to herself before turning her head just enough to regard Cable. }
"That good? Figures. You gave up everything Angel offered for her and look where that got you."
"Yeah, second place in the Heir to the Throne."
"That's right. SECOND."
{ She turns around to face him again. }
"Now if you had only listened to him, maybe you'd of beaten Sense in that Battle Royal and you'd be first."
"Sorry Am but I don't take marching orders from monsters."
"Anymore."
{ Cable brushes past her and goes to open the door to show her the exit. }
"I'll be around if you ever wanna catch up some more sometime."
"I'm sure you will be..."
{ Amber walks up to Cable and stands up on her tip toes to give him a little peck on the cheek. }
"Be seeing you, Cable."
{ As she walks out she passes by Gjenrei. Gjenrei does a double take before stepping into the locker room. He regards Cable for a few moments before barking at him. }
"What the hell was she doing here?"
{ Cable drops down on the bench and just stares at the floor, as if he were remembering something, something sinfully fun... }
"Trying to get back inside my head."
"And?"
"I'm nobodies puppet."
{ Cable stands up and pushes aside the camera as he heads off down the hall way... }
I'm sorry if my words of encouragement put you to sleep, Deathtrain...
Luckily for me I'm paid to entertain the fans...
NOT YOU.
And while you may have heard what I've had to say before from countless other bright eyed idiots...
I'm not just another idiot...
As you learned first hand I can back up everything I have to say as I stepped inside that ring, intent to OVERCOME the opposition and I did just that...
I won.
You lost.
That isn't gloating, that's fact...
But if you want to play the originality game then riddle me this big man...
How many wrestlers have come and gone with the big dark brooding schtick only to be defeated by some bright eyed, bushy tailed fan favorite?
I'm counting ATLEAST one more...
I understand it's hard for a man of your intelligence, who believes he's seen it all to comprehend the fact that not every man who runs his mouth off about pride and honor actually knows what the hell their talking about...
I understand that when you reach level of Deathtrain you no longer have to give your opponents the time of day and just assume your legacy is the only one that matters...
I understand and hope to god that if I ever become half the legend you are...
I'm not even a quarter as blind as you are...
You think fear is everything...
That your words...
Your threats mean something to me...
I was trained by Angel, the man in charge of the Cruiser Weights here in IWF...
A man who has ended more careers than you've had matches and to be quite honest with you, is more terrifying in his current position on management then you have ever or will ever be...
I have all the tools to be a monster like him...
I have the same blood lust and desire to cause nothing more than excruciating pain...
I have everything needed to lose myself to the chaos that is being one with the darkness, Deathtrain...
I chose to be the way I am...
I see now, after such a short time in this business and in life that there is nothing satisfying about being who you are...
There is nothing satisfying about people being afraid of you...
You think fear is everything but what happens when someone comes along who isn't afraid of you? What happens when you step in the ring with a man who has seen real evil, a real devil and feels nothing for you but an over whelming desire to see you laying in a heap in the middle of the ring? What happens, Deathtrain, when everything you are isn't enough anymore?
This passed Monday night Sacrifice is what happens...
Now we get to do it again, this time with partners, this time with less variables, this time, when we step in the ring it'll just be you and me...
I'm sure you've heard it before but I am looking forward to matching my skill against your brawn...
I can't take anything away from you, Deathtrain, your legend proceeds you...
But your legend doesn't scare me...
It provides me with a challenge...
A chance to see where I match up against one of the true greats in the business...
You should be honored by all the smoke I'm blowing up your ass but your so lost in your own ego and appearance that all you can think about is what nasty threat you'll throw my way this week...
What clever analogy you can come up with to hopefully jar me enough to pick up an easy win...
But it isn't going to happen...
I stood trial for treason this past and guess what?
If the glove don't fit...
We acquit...
Now it's time for a counter suit, Deathtrain...
Cept this time, there aren't any lies on the line. I'm not that redundant. No, the only thing on the line this time is some much needed points in a tournament to see who will be the first Imperial Championship...
A tournament that can't be won by a body count...
Or clever little stories...
It's a tournament that's going to take skill...
Drive...
Determination...
And yeah, WILLPOWER...
All of which I have plenty of...
But hey, if you think you can end my career then I beg you to try, Deathtrain...
Be my guest...
Just don't be surprised when you end up hanging yourself with all your empty promises...
Shallow words to fill a shallow grave.
Kat, I never met you before but I know enough about you and your family to trust you'll have my back in this match. You take care of Tifa, I'll take care of Deathtrain...
No Mercy.
