As our scene opens, cameras are rolling as Mercedes is seen heading towards the parking lot of KeyArena after her win tonight with her tag partner Paige Garcia against Emma Danielson and Crystal Hilton. A cameraman attempts to make conversation.
Cameraman: Mercedes, congratulations on the win tonight here at Sacrifice Obviously, it's been a long time coming. Can we get a reaction on what happened out there?
The question stops her cold as she is nearby her car. Turning around to face the camera crew, she peers over her sunglasses at the cameraman, seemingly insulted by the line of questioning.
Mercedes Vargas: “Long time coming”? Why, what ever do you mean?
Cameraman: Well, it has been well over two months since your last win, at Lineage. Ironically, it was also against Emma Danielson, but still. Wins have been hard to come by for you lately. Just saying.
Mercedes Vargas: Well, I'm *air quotes* “just saying” that everyone goes through a rough patch, it's almost inevitable. Tonight finally ended mine.
Mercedes breaks away from the camera as she points her remote key, then turns around as she packs her things into the back of her Porsche.
Cameraman: How was it teaming with Paige Garcia? I know that you both don't get along, but tonight she stepped up last minute to help you when you were seconds away from tapping out to Crystal Hilton and -
Mercedes stops what she's doing and again faces the camera. She puts a hand up while slowly shaking her head, refusing to listen to anymore.
Mercedes Vargas: Déjame interrumpirte ahí, señor camarógrafo. [Let me stop you right there, Mister Cameraman.]
She slams the trunk of her Porsche, then makes eye contract with the cameraman, raising her sunglasses over her head. She starts to respond in Spanish to his question.
[First of all, it's only Emma and Crystal. It's nothing to get excited about. Secondly, sometimes you have to make choices in life. Some choices are easy, like becoming a backstage interviewer or a cameraman. I mean, practically ANYONE can do your job. And then there are times when choices are not so easy.]
Mercedes switches back to English.
Mercedes Vargas: Paige had a choice to make: be selfish, go out a loser and hang her head in shame tonight, or try and save the day. It was a catch 22 situation. She made a difficult choice, but more importantly, she made the RIGHT choice, and yet somehow, I knew she would. She hates losing just as much as I do. I'll say this much for her. She won't be getting a Hallmark card from me for the holidays, though.
Mercedes slips on her sunglasses and proceeds to hop into her car, looking up at the cameraman.
Mercedes Vargas: At the end of the day, we won that match IN SPITE of Paige not BECAUSE of her.
She tosses her hair, showing her arrogance.
Mercedes Vargas: Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got a flight to catch.
Mercedes reaches for her door and slams it shut, nearly catching the cameraman with it. She pulls out the lot as the cameraman looks before the scene fades out.
