EMMA DANIELSON:
REBIRTH OF THE HARDCORE HELLION?
By Katherine Lockheart
A couple of weeks ago at Survival of the Fittest, IWF COO and current reigning Imperial Champion, Roberto Verona took it upon himself to instigate yet another revolution within his company by invoking the law of natural selection, and has since declared in interviews and promos that this is the beginning of a new company wide mandate - one where you either step up and take your opportunities or shut up and be left behind as victims of somebody else's opportunity.
Whilst some members of the roster clearly agree with this new vision, like Cyrus Daniels, and others like Nighthawk clearly disagree, there are still a select few who are neither black nor white but rather trapped in a shade of grey. It is for those IWF Superstars and Diamonds that this is a most interesting time as for them, the landscape to do whatever they wish to with their own future in the business has never been more open.
One such Diamond who has spent months straddling the line and seeking direction is Emma Danielson. The former NCW Starlets World Champion has struggled to gain any sort of meaningful traction during her time in the Imperial Wrestling Federation. All too often Emma is overlooked by her fresher hungrier colleagues and even some of her NCW peers as just another nostalgic act from a time long since passed.
It is easy to forget then that even in spite of her lack of professional accolades, Emma Danielson continues to be one of the most perseverant Diamonds on the entire roster. Having returned from a broken arm, completely undeterred from her career choices, still the question remains, how much does Emma Danielson really want or deserve to still be a meaningful part of the ever evolving landscape of the Imperial Wrestling Federation?
Ultimately that question can only really be answered by one person - Emma Danielson herself, but that fact has done nothing to stop the recent swell of rumours and speculation that she may be on the cusp of something of a professional rejuvenation given her actions this past week on Monday Night Sacrifice.
It was during a tag team contest against Esperanza Serranto and Alexis Caffrey that Emma shockingly laid out her own partner, Crystal Hilton and allowed two time and current reigning Diamonds World Champion Alexis Caffrey to pick up the win.
For some the unprovoked assault confirmed her allegiance with the IWF Head of Diamonds and long time friend Kathleen Conway, for others it was simply a statement of intent - a clear message to IWF's reigning Shieldmaiden, Kayla Richards that the Hardcore Hellion has been reawoken and she is out for blood.
Only time will tell if Emma Danielson can truly capitalise on her golden opportunity next week on Monday Night Sacrifice.
In less than a week the world will learn whether the Starlet who was once considered the Hardcore Hellion can survive and truly emerge as a Diamond in her own right or whether she will simply once again perish as the younger and more dominant Kayla Richards with the proven pedigree retains the right to continue to call herself the undisputed IWF Shieldmaiden.
