We open up backstage at Sacrifice as Jayson Matthews is coming back from his first match on his new journey to the top. He was hurt and sweaty and a little bit out of breath and he was coming back with a loss. It stung a bit to tell you the truth but the pain was dulled knowing that it was in a tag team match where his partner didn't show. And it also helped knowing that at one point in that handicap match it seemed like he actually had a chance. Just then Tiffany Jones comes running up to him with a microphone in her hand.
Tiffany Jones: Jayson! Jayson Matthews?
He wipes the sweat off his brow with a towel and gives her a friendly smile.
Tiffany Jones: Jayson Matthews, you just had your first match back on the active roster? What are your thoughts?
She puts the the microphone under his lips.
Jayson Matthews: Well you know Tiffany, despite coming up short, I gotta say it felt AWESOME to finally get out in the ring again. Of course that had nothing to do with my tag team partner and brother in law; Steve Awesome, who once again totally bailed on a scheduled match. Big shot hollywood movie star can't come back to help a brother in law out.
He shakes his head. It kind of disappointed him the way it all went down but he shrugs it off.
Jayson Matthews: But oh well Tiffany, what can you do but move on? He's a dick, it's in the past, so let's move on. Tonight was a challenge, I faced two men in a handicap and did pretty good for myself.....”
He starts jogging in place.
Jayson Matthews: I'm still feeling good, I could take on anything. I'm ready for the next challenge.....
He starts shadow boxing and dodging imaginary punches.
Tiffany Jones: Well it just so happens that you have a match at the next pay per view; Metamorphosis.
Hes jogging in place, throwing and dodging punches, and he even started chanting.
Jayson Matthews: Lay it on me baby, I'm ready. I'm ready. I'm ready. I'm ready.....I'm.....
Tiffany Jones: Renee Pleasant.
Jayson Matthews: ….read-
He stops everything he was doing and turns around and stares at Tiffany Jones with a wide eyed look of fear. He whispers in a meek, quiet voice.
Jayson Matthews: What was that? I didn't quite hear you.
Jayson stands there silently praying he heard the wrong name. But Tiffany Jones, the pressing journalist that she was, insisted that the truth be heard.
Tiffany Jones: Renee Pleasant.
It was right then that Jayson Matthews became a few shades paler. He almost looked like he was about to throw up and he even became a bit unbalanced in his stance.
Jayson Matthews: Oh God......I'm going to to die. This is it Tiffany, next Sunday at Metamorphosis is the night I die because Renee Pleasant is going to kill me.”
He starts to panic.
Tiffany Jones: What do you mean? You just faced two guys at once and almost had a chance doing it, it's the same thing.
Jayson shakes his head.
Jayson Matthews: No it is not! That was two guys around my size, tagging in and out of the ring. Renee Pleasant is a guy double my size with triple the strength, quadruple the intensity, and a history of being a violent psychopath! And don't even get me started on the luxurious beard that he has! How do you compete against that!?”
Tiffany thinks about it for a moment.
Tiffany Jones: Well gee when you put it that way.
Jayson Matthews: You see....ahhh man....I'm dead.
He hangs his head in sadness. A lone tear falls down his cheek.
Jayson Matthews: Well...thanks for the interview Tiffany...I'll remember it fondly as my last.
He hugs her and walks down the hall down trodden.

“If you are watching this it may be too late.....”
We open up on Jayson Matthews sitting at a desk in an office, dressed in a formal suit.
“.....or I have been placed in a match against a violent giant.”
He sighs and shakes his head.
“Either way, I'm already dead.”
He shakes his head and fights to hold back the tears. He reaches down and pulls up a binder.
I want to leave my pokemon cards.....to my niece Lauren.
He slides it over, and reaches down and picks up a nintendo 64.
I'd like to leave my nintendo 64 console and controllers to my friend Danny.
He reaches down and grabs a big box and sets it on the desk.
“And all the rest of my cool nineties memorabilia will be divvied up amongst the fans. There is floam in here folks so get in on it quick!
He slides the box to the side.
“I came back to this company because I thought that I had it in me to really make it in this business. For so long I dedicated my career to being a lackey for Steve Awesome and it got me no where. This time it was going to be different. I was going to go out there and fight for this chance. To make this opportunity count! I went out there and faced two guys in a handicap match. And that in itself was a challenge. But now this.....the very next week live on pay per view.......They have me facing Renee Pleasant.”
He stops and shudders.
“The man with a penchant for violence. The man who could quite possibly fold me up and place me firmly in his back pocket to save and beat up for later. The former world champion. A guy who has left a wake of destruction behind him and the guy who is quite frankly going to murder me this sunday at Metamorphosis.
He lays his head on the back of the chair that he was sitting in, his arms lay on the the arms on the chair. He stared into the ceiling, perhaps thinking of what was to come live on pay per view.
“Mr. Pleasant, you don't know me and I don't really know you, but I know of you, and I know what your capable of. The things I've herd and seen of what you did to Alex Jones or Verona, are pretty brutal dude. And I know that compared to them I'm just table scraps to a monster like you. Your almost a foot taller and outweigh me by a hundred pounds. You out power me by a number I'll never be able to figure out and you look bad ass in those leather jackets! Fight against you wouldn't matter to you. I know that anything I could ever possibly do to you will probably just get brushed away. You'll probably never even notice a single bit of offense I throw at you. You'll just brush them off like a gentle breeze.”
He picks his head up and looks at the camera.
“Well it's not for you.”
He picks his body up and leans forward a bit.
“Every kick, every punch, every off top rope, every armbar, every springboard move, every scratch, every claw, every bite, every armbar, every spit, every eye rake, every armbar, every kick to the nads......
He leans forward even more and puts his hands on the desk.
“.....it's for me. It's not for you, it's for ME! It's for me and this crazy off the wall far fetched dream that I even belong standing in the middle of the ring with someone like you or anyone else that wrestles in this company. Every kick, and every punch that you don't feel, every spring board or off top rope move that you just brush off, at least I know I tried and I never gave up hope that this opportunity here in IWF could be the one I've been waiting for.
So go ahead and crush me Renee, go ahead and beat me up, you may break my bones but I'll tell you one thing, you definitely break my spirit because I'll be kicking and fighting the whole way....and you never know......maybe.....just maybe.....”

We open up to Jayson Matthews walking into Steve and Mandi's home. He walks into the living room and puts his coat on the rack when he notices Steve and Mandi having a conversation.
Steve Awesome: What do you mean “not happy”? Of course your happy. Look at everything we have here.
Mandi Matthews: It's more than that. You're not listening.
Steve Awesome tries to understand, and then suddenly he seems to get an idea because he snaps his fingers.
Steve Awesome: More? Okay I got it, I'll be back soon!
Mandi Matthews: What? Wait a minute!
But it was too late Steve was already gone and Mandi couldn't stop him. She sighed but then noticed her little brother standing in the room. She had been the one to help raise and take care of Jayson when there parents weren't “fit” too during there life. Jayson could see the hint of distress in her eyes.
Jayson Matthews: What was that about? Are you okay sis?
She nods her head and accepts the hug from her brother.
Mandi Matthews: Yeah everything is fine. What about you? I heard your going to die this week.
Jayson takes a step back.
Jayson Matthews: Yeah probably! Have you see this guy? I'm too small, I'll never be able to get past this guy!
He slumps down on the sofa in depression.
Mandi Matthews: I think you'll be okay, do you remember the last crisis you thought you'd never be able to get past?
Mandi Matthews: And now look at you, still living life.
Jayson wipes away a tear for his fallen hero.
Jayson Matthews: Pffft.....barely.
Mandi walks over to the sofa Jayson was on and takes the seat next to him.
Mandi Matthews: The point is, you've been in situations before where you thought you'd never get through it. But yet here we are, past all of it and onto the newest obstacle. And somehow, you'll get past that one too.
Jayson thinks about it for a moment and it makes him feel a little better. Mandi had a way of doing that.
Jayson Matthews: Thanks sis.....I love you.
She hugs him.
Mandi Matthews: I love you too.

Cut back to Jayson Matthews reading his will in his office from earlier.
...maybe......just maybe....
He shrugs and smiles at the camera.
“...I just might pull it off.”
Fade.
Tiffany Jones: Jayson! Jayson Matthews?
He wipes the sweat off his brow with a towel and gives her a friendly smile.
