...It's been almost nine years since I decided I wanted to try and make it as a professional wrestling. There were a lot of people who told me it wasn't as easy as it looked on television but that didn't stop me. Once I had made my mind up, I was committed. My background in athletics made the transition easier, but make no mistake. It was the hardest thing I'd ever done, but it was the best decision I had made.
There are some who might say my road was easier than it should have been. I can't say they are wrong. It isn't everyone who tries to make it in this business that gets to train and learn from someone with twenty years of experience. I got to work with two of them. The value of the time spent with those two men is something that you can't put a price on. They invested their time in me. I question how wise that investment was sometimes.
Anyone who has followed my career at all knows how close my cousin Brian and I are. Even though there is an age difference between us that never got in they way. He is like the older brother I never had. Some of you probably know him my his ring name Muru. At one time he truly was “The Greatest Show on Earth”. He even had a short stint in the IWF. Sure he will never go down as a legend in this business but that doesn't matter to me. He will always be the one who gave me my first shot.
I couldn't expect him to train me forever because he had his own career path to follow. That is when I sought out Jake Keeton. All the stories you may have heard of me sleeping outside the bushes just for a chance to ask him to train me are all true. At that point I was pretty sure his career was over and he would jump at the chance. I was wrong. He agreed but at times I felt like little more than a training tool for him to get ready for one last run. Remember this was nine years ago.
At that time is his life Jake wasn't exactly is a good place. I know of at least one time I found him drunk in a gutter somewhere. This isn't brought up to shame the man. I am only letting people know my road isn't as easy as it may seem. True I had success early in my career but I was never rewarded. It made me very bitter and truth be told it pissed me off. All my hard work was never rewarded. I was always told that it would be.
The point of the look into my past is this. I worked very hard to get where I am in this business and I have never reaped the rewards. Its also pretty obvious I am nowhere near getting an Imperial championship match. If I want one I have no choice but to win the roulette. It may look like a shortcut but after I've given to this business I could use the break. Again it won't be easy. Every man on the roster wants the same thing. We all have a back story, a reason. I figure my story is as good as any...

It is the day after Sacrifice and Ryan Shane has found his way home. That's going to be his routine for the next three months. Go to work and come home. It makes sense. It's what he has to do. He has to admit that even though this isn't a choice he wanted to make he is enjoying it. Once wrestling is in your blood its hard to let go.
That is why he is sitting in his house. But there are still obligations that come with the job that have to be attended to. A local interviewer called him over the weekend hoping to get a few words from him. She is a cute little thing. The kind of girl an unattached Ryan Shane might pursue, if a bit young.
She has brought along a camera man. Ryan isn't even sure what this is for but he figures that some good will might help him out some. The young interviewer and Ryan are seated next to each other on the couch. The cameraman is finishing getting his things in order.
Cameraman: I am ready whenever you are Lily.
Lily: I appreciate you doing this. You're one of the biggest stars from our hometown.
He feels even better about doing this interview now.
Ryan Shane: No problem. I am always happy to help out, despite what you may see on TV.
The cameraman counts her down and the interview begins.
Lily: Hello, I'm Lily Flowers and today I'm with IWF star “Right Now” Ryan Shane. Thank you Ryan for allowing us into your home.
Ryan Shane: Your welcome. Thank you for having me on your show.
Lily Flowers: It was two weeks ago that you attacked Jake Keeton and restarted your IWF career. Everyone knows why you did it, but now that you are active again what are your goals?
Ryan Shane: My goals are what they have always been. I want to be at the top of this business. I have had setbacks in the past and this is my last shot. I'm going all out to reach these goals.
Lily Flowers: Do those goals include becoming Imperial Champion?
Ryan Shane: That is the main goal. Its the highest prize in the IWF. I have wanted it ever since I signed my contract three years ago. That is why the Roulette match at High Stakes is so important.
Lily Flowers: The winner of that match gets a title shot correct?
Ryan Shane: That is right.
Lily Flowers: So you must be appreciative that you were given the match against Derek Brooks. Winning that match allowed you to face four other men for a chance to enter the Roulette as one of the last five men. That sounds like a huge advantage.
Ryan Shane: It is a huge advantage. But it also feels like I'm jumping through a lot of hoops. First I have to defeat the rookie Brooks and that gives me a chance to MAYBE be in the last five. Why not just have the winners of the individual matches get the top five spots. You could even have the five way match to see who gets which spot. It sounds pretty simple to me.
Lily Flowers: You are still getting a chance only four other men are getting. It still sounds like a big deal.
Ryan Shane: That's what they want you to think. Sure it beats entering at the beginning but there is nothing guaranteed. Why not have the winner of this match come in last? I will tell you why. Those spots have to be saved for people who are just handed things.
Lily Flowers: So you think there might be some favoritism going on in the IWF?
Ryan Shane: I am not saying that. I just know that its a business. But its fine if I have to work a little harder. It just makes it all the more sweeter when I win the Roulette.
Lily Flowers: It sounds like you have it all figured out.
Ryan Shane: Hardly. I know none of this will be easy. The IWF roster is filled with a lot of men who want to be Imperial champion. Men who will do anything to reach those goals. I know I'm not the favorite to win the thing. Most people wouldn't give me a chance in hell. I'm going to prove them all wrong.
Lily Flowers: I wish you all the luck in the world.
Ryan Shane: I appreciate that.
The rest of the interview was the standard lineup of questions but Ryan was glad he did it. As Lily and the cameraman are packing up to leave Amber arrives back home.
Amber Lynn: What is all this?
Ryan Shane: An interview I agreed to do. I'm sure I told you about it.
Amber Lynn: I'm sure you didn't.
Ryan Shane: It isn't a big deal. I just wanted to help the kid out.
Amber looks at the young and super cute Lily as she gives Ryan a little wave.
Lily Flowers: Thanks again Ryan!
The interviewer and her cameraman leave the house closing the door behind them. Amber gives Ryan one of her looks.
Ryan Shane: It isn't what you think...
Amber Lynn: Oh I know. You wouldn't be that stupid.
She is right.
...At High Stakes the stakes have never been higher for me. I want to win the match. I need to win it. I know that answer will be given by ninety percent of the roster but its the truth. So if the IWF wants me to jump through hoops so be it. If I have to defeat four other men to maybe get a better spot I will do it. I hope everyone is taking notice. I am not the same Ryan Shane you have seen before. I am different. I don't know if that means I'm better but you are all about to find out. I will walk out of High Stakes having earned an Imperial title shot. The rest of the roster can try and stop me...
