I really wanted that advantage. I needed it. Now Zasshu has the honor of getting one of the last five spots. It's an honor that should have been mine. There was a lot going on out there and it could have been anyone's match. Then Jake Keeton had to stick his nose in my business again. Did I attack him first at Open Fight Night? Sure. He shouldn't be complaining though. He got his precious win over Jack Gaither and isn't that what really matters? Speaking of Gaither he is going to get his sooner or later.
Now I have to go back to the drawing board. I have no idea where I will be coming into the Roulette at. It shouldn't matter. I'm getting myself prepared and I will be ready no matter where I come in. Whether they like it or not people are going to notice what I'm doing. I don't care if I have to beat it into every man on the roster. Right now I know the locker room still sees me as a joke. If they want to look at me that way, maybe I should be a joker.

Things can't always go your way. It's how you react to adversity that makes you the person you are. At this moment Ryan is angry. He feels he should be looking at a top five spot in the Roulette, instead who knows where he will enter. Hopefully lady luck will be on his side. Whoever is in the ring with him next better hope he has cooled off by then.
Regardless of the results there is the match to prepare for. That means that he is once again at his cousin's warehouse working out. Today things are a little unconventional though. There is no weight lifting, no practicing his moves. Today he is lifting sandbags, very heavy sandbags.
Ryan Shane: This is pretty damn ridiculous man.
He says this as he strains to through an almost three hundred pound sandbag over the top rope.
Ryan Shane: There has got to be a better way than this.
Brian: I think this is pretty effective. If you want to win the Roulette you are going to have to be able to throw some guys over the top rope.
Ryan Shane: I know that. But this is nothing but dead weight. I don't think this really simulates what it will be like.
Brian: No? It could if you connect with a Shaning Wizard. I don't think anyone will have to much life in them after that.
He makes a good point.
Ryan Shane: That's the last one. I need a break.
Brian: I will give you fifteen minutes. Then you need to put those bags back into the ring.
Ryan Shane: Why the hell would I want to do that?
Brian: So you can toss them back out again.
This makes Ryan groan.
Brian: How are things going outside of the ring? Amber still being cool with this?
Ryan Shane: I think so. It's hard to tell. It could just be the pregnancy making her emotional. I'm wondering if I made the right choice doing this after all. It's a long shot that I will make an impact and I don't know if it's worth it.
Brian: That's the dilemma when you are attached to someone. You have to remember what's at stake. It isn't just you like it's been for so long. You will have a wife and kid and that's a big responsibility. Even if you don't like the options you have to do what's best for them. If that means a couple more months in the ring so be it. Have you given any thought about what you will do after?
Ryan Shane: Some. I figure maybe I can do some security work or be a cop. Amber and I have both been talking about going to school. I'm not sure. Things were much simpler when I thought I would be doing this until I couldn't anymore. I never thought I would be out before my thirtieth birthday.
Brian: You won't find better money doing those things than you make now. You know that right?
Ryan Shane: I know. My biggest worry is that the IWF might over me another contract.
Brian: If you worried about that why are you trying so hard?
Ryan Shane: I'm not just going to lay down and ride it out. If I am doing this I am going to do it the best that I can.
Brian: I guess you will have to make that decision if it comes to that then.
His cousin is right. Why try so hard if you don't want to be here. Success will only make them want to keep you around. If you don't want that why put so much on the line now? Ryan now has even more to think about.
I know that everyone has their own thought process on the Roulette. There are some who look at it as a inconvenience that keeps them from doing what they want to do in the IWF. There are others who know they can't compete at that level and just hope they don't look like chumps out there. Then there are those like myself who are taking it very seriously. I don't have a title shot coming up, I am not the number one contender for any title. I have to take matters into my own hands.
What else am I supposed to do? It isn't like anything is going to be handed to me. I know that I'm only here to fill out the roster. I proved I can go in the ring and there is always a place for guys like that. For some that is good enough, but not for me. I want to be special. I know what it's like to be a big deal. I want to feel that again. It isn't like I'm giving them any reason to push me to the top though is it? I've made it no secret that I'm done when my contract is up. It would be nice to walk out of here as Imperial champ though.
It would be the second time in my career I walked out of a company while holding hold. The first time was the defining moment of my career. That isn't much to be proud of though is it? If I win the Roulette though I get an Imperial title shot. If I finally get my first heavyweight shot I won't let it go to waste. It would be nice to go out on my terms. I'm getting ahead of myself though aren't I? A lot has to go right for everything to go my way. There aren't many guys who are going at this so hard. They don't have to. This is all I have. It's a game of High Stakes and I have more to lose than anyone.
I've said it before it isn't going to be easy. You would be surprised how much fight people have in them when you are trying to toss them over the top rope. I am not the biggest, or the strongest. I don't have as much experience as these other guys. What I do have is an unrelenting will to not give up or give in. I might not win this thing but people are going to know I was there. After High Stakes I won't be just another name on the roster. I will be a real contender. You can bet on that.
Later that night...
Ryan is sitting at home and relaxing after the brutal work out he had this morning. It is getting late and he is catching up on some sports highlights. Amber is sleeping up against him, having fallen asleep while watching a movie. Ryan then hears the sound of his phone vibrating next to him. He picks it up and sees that he has a text message.
Hey. Everyone loved the interview. Care to do a follow up sometime? I'm really interested to hear more about your return and career in general.
The message was from Lily Flowers. The only problem is, Ryan doesn't remember giving her his cell phone number.
