It is less than a week until High Stakes III. For the past couple of weeks I have been preparing myself for the Roulette match. I don't think I have ever worked harder in my career than I have since returning to the IWF. There is a very simple reason for that.
This Sunday is the most important night of my IWF career.
I don't have a lot of time left. If I'm unable to win than my chance at being more than ball of wasted potential in the IWF is over. It isn't enough to dominate guys like Demonio Blanco without breaking a sweat. Success is measured in gold. It's been so long since I've been known as a champion. I want to feel what it's like one more time.
I want to be Imperial Champion, no I NEED to be.
I've tried to set myself up with the best possible chance. It hasn't exactly worked out like I had hoped. I didn't win the shot to be one of the last five. That gave me a huge mountain to climb. It didn't get any easier when I found out that the Roulette wasn't the only match I would be competing in. It looks like I have to face Jake Keeton. I guess beating him once wasn't enough. It looks like the fans will be treated to a repeat performance.
I won't let you ruin this for me Jake!
I know that's what you wanted. It wasn't like you could win the thing. You might be able to eek out a win every once in awhile but the days of you outlasting the entire IWF roster? Those days are in the past, the distant past.
So while you may have tried to ruin my mood I felt pretty uplifted after my talk with Roberto Verona. I'm sure everyone has heard the news by now, but I was one of the few he spoke to directly. Don't think that makes me his pawn. If I'm going to win the Roulette I need to be the last man anyway, why not toss out Rob Diamond and make the deal all the sweeter?
I plan on winning the Roulette. I'm going to win it. No one else has the drive I do to get the job done. There is no one who wants it more. I'm not afraid of any man on the roster. I know on my best day I can beat anyone. It just doesn't hurt to have a backup plan.

Ryan still wasn't sure how Lily Flowers was able to get his personal cell phone number. When he asked he about it she dodged the question. At first it seemed like all she wanted was to set up another interview but Ryan had to decline. He was too busy and he couldn't justify taking any more time out to do something as frivolous as an interview with a local college kid. He thought she understood.
A couple of days later she messaged to see if he had changed his mind. He hadn't. That's when things got weird. I don't know if she thought it would cause trouble for him but she starting sending him pictures of herself scantily clad and messages saying “can't wait to see you again”. She even threatened to message Amber and let them know that there was something going on between them.
Ryan's phone is now on silent but he can see the screen light up letting him know he has a message.
Ryan Shane: I'm not sure what this girl's problem is. I told her no, why can't she respect my wishes?
It's almost ten at night and Ryan is already in bed. Amber comes out of the adjoined bathroom and climbs in next to him.
Amber Lynn: It might be time to look into changing your number.
Ryan Shane: If she found it once I'm sure she can find it again. I even told her you know everything. There is nothing she can get out of this but annoying me.
Amber Lynn: She is a kid. That could be what she wanted all along.
Ryan Shane: I feel like I have my own stalker. What with her and that kid Andy asking for advice left and right I feel trapped.
Andy for those who may not know is the younger brother of a girl he used to know. He is trying to make it in the wrestling business. Why he feels Ryan is a good source of advice in beyond him.
Amber Lynn: Ever think maybe she might have a crush?
He hadn't. It never even crossed his mind.
Ryan Shane: I doubt that. She probably just wants more praise. I'm not even that great of an interview.
Amber Lynn: You know I could meet with her. I'll stop things really quick.
While never a wrestler, Amber learned a thing or two while in the business.
Ryan Shane: I'm sure you could, but I don't want you to do anything that could have an effect on the baby. I should just do the interview, get her out of our hair. I hate giving in like that.
Amber Lynn: You have been doing pretty good this week spending time with me. I think if you take care of this we might be able to find even more time.
Ryan Shane: It's been easy. Sure I have a match with Jake, and the Roulette match. They don't compare to you.
Ryan picks up his phone and sends out a message to the persistent Lily Flowers.
I give in...tomorrow...name the place.
This year's Roulette is going to be the best one yet. The IWF is jam packed with talent, always has been and always will be. It doesn't matter who leaves, there will always be someone ready to step into the spotlight. Hell I even heard there is former talent falling all over themselves just for a spot in the Roulette. Title shots aren't handed out everyday. Everyone has their eye on the prize. I know I do. If there is someone in the locker room saying they don't care about the Roulette, they are liars.
Everyone wants a shot to be Imperial Champion.
If you aren't striving to be the best, then why even bother?
Sure there are some guys who have no realistic shot. They can't think that way. Take Rob Diamond for instance. With the bounty put on his head what chance does he really have? As soon as he enters the ring people are going to be looking to toss him out. It doesn't matter if you are the greatest of all time or not.
You can't beat the whole IWF on your own.
This match isn't just about skill. There is some luck involved which is why I think it makes sense to call it the Roulette. My luck hasn't been the best lately but I feel the winds of fortune are about to change. For the rest of the roster they might get another chance. This isn't the be all end all for Diamond, or guys like The Ace or Spike Kane. If I had the time I'm sure I could climb the mountain on my own. Unfortunately time isn't a luxury I have. I have to take the next step.
If not Right Now, then it's NEVER.
I know some of you will laugh at this, and think it's Ryan Shane, we don't have to take him seriously. The fans at the arena and at home will probably think I will enter and exit without as little as a ripple. I want everyone who is going to underestimate me to do so. If you think I can't win, take to social media and let everyone know it. I may not have many supporters but the ones I do know what I'm capable of.
One way or another I am walking out of Night of the Immortals the Imperial Champion. I may not have much time left in the ring...
But my LEGACY will LIVE FOREVER!
