Reported on IWF.com Tyler Jacobs updated his segment with the following information, available both at www.tylertalks.com, and IWF.com.
This past week in IWF we saw an odd trend hit the floor, and hit the floor running. We've had three superstars come out and announce that they are retiring, and for three different reasons. I'm going to take this chance to break down these retirements, and the possible effects they can have on the landscape of IWF.
JAKE KEETON
Jake is a renown world class wrestler. He's been around the world, and has been doing this for two decades now. Sadly, the success he's earned in other places never seemed to materalize here in IWF, yet, amongst those regarded as the upper echelon, Jake still garners a ton of respect. With the likes of JJ Biggs and JC Keeton joining specifically to mix it up with Jake, it's pretty obvious that he still has star power. Jake announced his last match will be at Night of the Immortals, so he isn't retired yet - but what a show to go out on? The biggest show of the year, and arguably of IWF's history. What Jake will transition into next, is up in the air. Rumours are abound that he will join the IWF Performance Center and help train the next crop of supserstars, but there are also rumours that Jake could be heading to the commentary box. Either way, it'll be good for the company to still have Jake Keeton around, in one way, or another.
Love him or loathe him, everyone has an emotional reaction to Jack Gaither. Earlier this year Jack hung up his boots, but it didn't take much goading on Twitter to get the outspoken supserstar to return. In his defence, Jacks return lead to arguably some of his best moments in IWF. He had a heated rivalry with Spike Kane, and the younger Kane too, before earning himself an Imperial Title shot against Roberto Verona. I can't help but think if Jack had come out on top, he wouldn't be on this list, but he's gained a lot of respect from the locker room over the past few weeks, especially as he's decided to take a back seat and support his wife Fiona McFly in her quest for the Diamonds Championship. Gaither has hinted that he wants to join the commentary team, but some wrestlers have spoken out against it. There are also rumours of Jack having his own interview-based show. One thing is for sure, we haven't seen the last of Jack Gaither, and with his new protoge Johnny Gillmen stepping into the ring, his influence is only spreading.
The self proclaimed God of Xtreme hit us all with a bombshell this week, and though we've come to expect the faux retirement from the Kane Twins, this one? It seems so unfortunately true. Spike Kane has been diagnosed with lung cancer, and confirmed to the world that it is very aggressive, and very far along. The IWF Hall of Famer didn't clarify how long he had left, but when his son came to the ring to pledge his support, Spike vowed to be in his corner. Later that night, Spike also tried to simmer things down between InFamous mates Rob Diamond, and Steve Awesome. So, at the very least we'll see Spike Kane at Night of Immortals in Warren and Jaysons corner, and as the special guest referee for Steve vs Rob. One thing is for certain when it comes to Spike, his presence will be missed, but his influence runs throughout the roster. Going forward, we can only hope that there is at least a chance of recovery for the former Imperial and Tag Team Champion, and we wish Spike Kane all the best.
