Abusing Staff Members
Here in IWF we take a zero tolerance approach to any abuse of our staff members. Our staff aren’t paid to do their jobs and subsequently take time out of their own personal lives to dedicate themselves to help run the federation and as such they do not deserve to be subject to abuse from members either publically or privately. Anybody caught abusing a staff member will be dealt with by the federation owner.
This does not mean that you cannot disagree with a staff member, but please remember to do it politely. If you’re unreasonably abused by a staff member please contact the federation owner as this works both ways.
Abusing Fellow Members
Abuse of fellow members is strictly forbidden, IWF is about having fun and enjoying ourselves not resorting to tribal warfare over petty matters. Anybody caught abusing another member will be severely dealt with, you must treat all other members with respect regardless of any personal differences, IWF isn’t the platform to air these opinions.
OOC shots in role plays will not be tolerated either, we’re all here to enjoy ourselves.
UPDATED: Persistent offenders will be punished by a one month suspension in the first instance, if their behaviour fails to improve they will subsequently receive a permanent ban. Members will be warned about their conduct before these measures are implemented to allow them to change their behaviour, but if they continue they will be punished accordingly.
Character Limit
The default character limit for a handler in IWF is 3 characters for non-staff members, however extra characters may be allowed in circumstances where the handler has displayed the ability to be able to fulfil their booking commitments on a routine basis (both in IWF or previously in NCW).
Roleplay Judging
Roleplays are judged by the IWF staff and are determined by votes, a fairly standard procedure across e-fedding. The basis upon which staff are asked to judge roleplays is the central principle of how well has the writer portrayed the gimmick they are attempting to sell. IWF allows and encourages a diverse roster of characters ranging from serious to satirical etc and will not limit their chances of success. Roleplays are not, therefore, judged on whether staff personally enjoy the character or the gimmick, but how well the author has portrayed that gimmick.
All votes are justified with an explanation for how they reached their conclusion and the Fed Head reserves the right to veto a decision or decline a vote if he feels the decision has not been reached fairly or impartially.
Decisions, however, are final, whilst it is understandable to be upset when you've lost on occasion, please try to remember that often matches are incredibly close and the decision to award one person the victory doesn't reflect the belief that your work is exceptionally flawed in any way. Feedback is provided, it is advised that you read this.
Constructive complaints are allowed, but I must reiterate that abuse of staff members over results will not be tolerated in any way.
Roleplay Limit
The current roleplay limit for weekly shows is set at one per character, if this should increase it will be amended here accordingly.
The roleplay limit for pay per views is set at one roleplays per character for non tag-team matches and one per character in any team based match (tag team, 6 man tag etc), again if this changes in the future it will be amended here accordingly.
Word Limit
There is no official word limit in IWF, roleplays can be any length deemed necessary by the handler, however they are judged on their quality rather than their quantity so a 3000 word roleplay may not necessarily be of superior quality to a 2000 or 1500 word roleplay.
Other E-Feds
IWF has a strict and straight forward policy regarding other e-feds, simply put, as far as IWF kayfabe is confirmed all other e-feds are to be considered as “indy”. The only fed history IWF officially recognises is New Championship Wrestling, the fed to whom IWF is the spiritual successor. The reason for this is fairly simple, the vast majority of roleplayers have, across various feds, likely accumulated a significant number of accomplishments which would make booking newcomers essentially very difficult. Opening shows with a 16x World Champion against a Hall of a Famer and 12x World Champion would be understandably ridiculous in the kayfabe narrative the fed is selling. IWF is portrayed as, essentially, being the equivalent of WWE in terms of size and scope across the world.
Newcomers, therefore, are welcome to refer to their previous companies but they must do so on the understanding that their achievements don’t “count” as an equivalent to the belts in IWF and the shows, articles, booking etc will not treat them as such. This isn’t designed to run down or insult other “companies” or to belittle your achievements, it is simply the easiest way for us to sell a realistic narrative.
Failing to Show and Sandbagging
IWF takes a dim view on “gaming” the system and sandbagging is frowned upon. Whilst we understand that sometimes late roleplays cannot be helped repeat offenders will find themselves automatically losing matches as it is unfair to repeatedly roleplay after your opponents and provides an unfair advantage of always have the right of reply. If you persist in posting around the deadline and it is deemed to be a deliberate attempt to gain and advantage you will find yourself under a deadline penalty where you will be forced to submit you roleplays several hours earlier than everybody else.
Handlers who don't show will find themselves booked on a infrequent basis, matches are given to active members as a priority because it is unfair to force them to sit out for characters who do not have roleplays posted for them. Failing to roleplay sometimes is completely understandable and we accept that it happens, but if you consistently fail to roleplay you will no longer be booked as it is unreasonable to expect staff to keep writing matches when you're not contributing, spaces on cards can be tight and active members deserve to be booked.
Also, do not fail to show for matches just because the conclusion is angled, you’re still expected to produce roleplays for matches even when the outcome is already determined, agreeing an ending is not an excuse to take a week off roleplaying. If you do this consistently, you can expect to find your pushes/feuds terminated early.
Gentleman’s Agreements
Any handlers who agree to increase the limit the amount of roleplays in a match must provide evidence that both parties have agreed to the reduction, anybody who fails to do so must understand that any agreements isn’t viewed as valid in staff eyes and if you’re out roleplayed despite this it will be seen as your fault.
Once an agreement is in place handlers are expected to adhere to it, anybody who breaks the agreement will automatically lose.
Roleplay Etiquette
Character development is considered UNTELEVISED unless expressly implied or stated by the author of the roleplay. That means that you can be a little more creative with the content of your character, however there should be no excessive sexual content (this includes well described sex scenes of a violent or non-violent nature), no insensitive activities unless they face very real, very serious repercussions (this means if you assault somebody, I expect you at some stage be prepared to have your character face legal actions for it). This doesn’t mean that you cannot be creative with your character development but anything such as killing other people etc is only acceptable if it is patently un-real (a delusion, dream, flashback etc) in the same sense a drama is and fits your characters background and gimmick, random criminal acts on television wouldn’t go unpunished, anything such as drug usage that you wish to partake in “off camera” must be expressly described as such and must be relevant to your character.
You may use your own characters and secondary characters to your heart’s content, however, if you wish to use another handler’s character you must seek their permission to do so first (unless it is expressly stated or implied that their presence is entirely fictional, such as a dream, delusion etc). You may utilise staff members whose role is to interview wrestlers but for any more senior members you must seek permission. Subsequently, all private property of characters must also not be used unless permission is granted to do so (houses, cars etc).
If you have any questions of what is deemed acceptable please get in touch with a staff member.
In Ring Roleplays
Do not do in ring roleplays, any in ring promos must be saved for segments on the show, otherwise characters would simply be addressing an empty arena.
Angles
All angles are assigned to a staff member and they subsequently run that angle themselves with input from other staff members. If you want to pitch your own angles/feuds please be aware that you will be assigned a staff member to supervise you, this doesn’t mean that you can have no input into an angle it just means that we can keep track of all active angles or upcoming angles and we know what is happening. You will need to submit all segments to your supervisor and the federation owner to make sure it gets on the show.
When we are running an angle for you we will try to limit the amount you know about it to keep it entertaining for you and any member led angles are still subject to staff input and approval so do not be offended if elements of your ideas are slightly modified or rejected.
Leaving and/or Dismissal
If you have to leave IWF for whatever reason we understand and are sorry to see you go, at the same time if you are "let go" from the fed, the following still applies.
- If leaving, please let staff know immediately.
- If suspended, or fired, the staff will let you know as soon as the decision has been reached.
Now depending on when this happens, your character will be written out of storylines appropriately. At the same time, if you leave in the middle of a week and are already booked, your character will remain in the match as your opponent may have already RPed with you in mind, and you will no longer be booked afterward.
