In my life...
There has never been much room for positive reinforcement.
Emotions in general were a thing of fantasy.
I found myself more times on my knees than I'd like to admit, begging and pleading for ultimate release from the constant feelings of nothingness.
This huge gaping black hole formed over my soul and pulled in everything that once made me human. My innocence never had the chance to thrive. My purity was tainted by the never ending urges of a depraved madman feeding on the negatives of time and space. It seemed only the harshest of realities ever stuck to my mind; A mind that clung to every shred of hope and promise for peace until they were ripped from my bloodstained hands. All I have ever known is a life of destitute... Though I was born into a life of privilege. Yet, no amount of riches could stop the infestation that incubated and corrupted the inside of me. All the doctors' theories and medications only worked to further my drift into the gray you all so desperately avoid.
As a child, I had never truly known what it was like to be free.
Instead, these arms were shackled by my own sadistic nature, my mindset imprisoned by my own twisted virtues.
I was forced to find comfort in the darkest nooks and crannies of my treachery.
Soon every single childhood memory, made-up fantasy, dream, nightmares...
They all blended into me.
A surprising number of voices that all sounded exactly the same.
I could no longer tell fact from fiction and I found myself portraying the visage of what I believed to be me.
Only I was a leashed beast modified to do the bidding of some unknown council.
That was so long ago...
Yet, I could never run away from a past that was force fed into me but never really filled me up.
Two matches are up next on my plate.
I am hoping that they are enough to satiate my hunger and quench my thirst.
Though I sincerely doubt it.
For there is always something lurking around the corner.
{Lex's face appears from the darkness on the screen. He looks from side to side before fixing his gaze right into every single one of your souls. Especially the three men that share his reward at Lineage.}
Lex Sense: We shall cross that bridge when we get there.
Right now...
Two unpredictable matches where only one opponent is assured.
The other will be revealed when the winner rises out of Cable or Joe.
Mike has the unfortunate luck of facing me first.
I am not going to lie to you, Laszlo. I think you are fully capable of overcoming the giant obstacle standing in front of you. This whole arrogant shtick of yours is nothing but a ploy, one that I could see right through to the root of you. Nobody believes all that you see fit to try and make a reality. Your existence so far has been less than stellar in IWF. Still, I know better than anybody that looks can be deceiving. Now while I wholeheartedly have faith in myself and the things I can do, I will go ahead and give you the benefit of a doubt.
What will you do with it?
Will you continue to run your mouth about what you and only you claim yourself of being? Or will you actually shut up and stand up to the inevitable and change fate? Make no mistake about this, little man. I am not Spike Kane. I am not Rob Diamond. I am not Roberto Verona. I am not even the Lex Sense you once knew. I am a whole new beast that has broken free from the shackles that once bound him to an unforgettable promise.
I am more, yet less.
The dark and the light.
I am everything that surrounds and nothing in the same breath.
I am all that you fear and I,...
I have nothing to lose.
{The smirk hated worldwide sinks back into the shadows and darkness overtakes Sense and the scene.}
Lex Sense: I am not the one that has to beat you. I have already proven myself when I blindsided this company and turned everything upside down. The moment I arrived the slack jawed mouth breathers were left stunned, unable to comprehend what it was that they were watching. Out of nowhere I revealed myself as a champion and proceeded to act as one as I laid to waste every competitor put in my tracks. While you were running your mouth and losing, Mike, I was winning.
I was building that legacy you so desperately crave.
I was building an empire using victim after victim as brick and mortar. I didn't just blow smoke up my own ass to make me sleep better at night. I breathed fire and burned everything to the ground and I did it without being the first ever Imperial Champion. I proved my candidacy by accumulating a massive number of points that could never be reached. While you toyed at the bottom until that one impressive victory to just barely make the top four, I established a dominance that could never be duplicated. Now you stand across from your superior and this wont be your time. This wont be the moment where you appear out of nowhere and steal the show.
This will simply be another huge loss that you will ignore next week as you continue to lie to yourself by thinking you are better.
I don't think I am better.
I just know that I am capable.
Time for you to learn the difference, "show-stealer".
{Wavy white and black lines of gray color the black on your screen as static gives way to a scene from the past. Lex sits in the corner of his cell, arms wrapped around him, tightly secured by the straightjacket covering his torso. An older man in a suit stands before him, confident enough to take control of the situation. His son looked young, in his early twenties and both had that political smile plastered on their faces. Lex is no older than 14 yet his body had already learned the art of deceit as he appears bigger than his age should allow.}
Christian Savage: You will have to excuse our intrusion. We did not wish to distract you from your... lounging about.
{Christian looked and smelled like a politician. From his expensive suit to his ash gray hair. He stared st his surroundings in the small confines of the cell, clearly disgusted as he watched where he stepped. It didn't help that there was actual feces lying in the middle of the room.}
Christian Savage: A boy of few words? Those are hard to come by nowadays. I remember when my son was your age he became rather inquisitive. Questioning this, questioning that.... Always searching for reasoning. Right, boy?
{The son was also dressed sharply but there was something fresh about him. Not exactly the old thinker his father appeared to be.}
Sebastian Savage: Whatever you say, father.
Christian Savage: Right... As is always the case.
Lex Sense: What do you want? Don't you see I was busy coloring.
Christian Savage: With no colors or coloring book?
Lex Sense: Don't need those where I've been.
Christian Savage: And where exactly is that?
Lex Sense: Some place far, far away. A place where you can't go.
Christian Savage: Right. Well I presume any place is better than here. However, that is exactly why we're here. Because you can go places we dare not even consider traveling to.
Sebastian Savage: He's just a boy.
{Christian scolds his son with a stern look, silencing the young man as he props that joker's smile back on his face.}
Christian Savage: He is old enough. Aren't you, boy?
Lex Sense: My name is Lex.
Christian Savage: I know your name. How about you answer my question.
Lex Sense: What question?
Christian Savage: Are you old enough?
{Sebastian looks conflicted by the whole scene but remains silent, allowing Lex to make up his own mind.}
Lex Sense: Yes.
Christian Savage: Good. I have known your father for many years. I even knew your mother. Such a shame what happened to her. Real tragedy, that. I never understood why he would send one of his boys to this dreaded place but I've heard there is reason to your incarceration. I will have you free in a matter of months. Free to run around and play the part of a horny teenager if you wish. I just need one thing from you and that is a promise. A promise to be our sword when it is necessary. Will you promise to be our champion?
{Lex appeared confused but the man promised to get him out of the hellhole he'd known for the last 4 years. The answer was very simple.}
Lex Sense: Okay.
Christian Savage: Very well. Let us begin you "reformation".
{Two burly men in suits step into the room after Christian knocks on it. They force Lex to his feet and carry him off to GOD knows where. As the door to the cell is shut behind them, we are left lingering. We stare at the brick walls and soiled ground as we make our way around the small room until the shot rests on the bed where the giant Sense of today sits, his arms resting on his knees as he stares at the floor.}
Lex Sense: For years after that, they forced me to endure endless hours of "reformation". Their precious little words for taking children like me and turning them into their weapons. I am not the only product created by a society that enjoys the darker side of ecstasy though I am the only one that became able to think for himself. My father threw me away and I became adopted by an entirely new family. It wasn't so bad, I guess. I learned everything I needed to be the man I am today. However, it wasn't until I stepped out of the mental prison they created for me that I realized that I was my own man, my own being.
I stopped carrying their faith on my shoulders and learned how to believe for myself.
It seems lately Joe Everyman is on a similar mission. For the last couple of weeks you have shown initiative. True initiative and not the false one known from coming out of your corner. I did not expect to see you here in the final four yet here you stand among the best this company has to offer. You are either very lucky or very deserving but either way your moment in the sun is about to dry up. You are facing a man that impressed me more in one match than the many we've had together and I do not foresee you moving on from the very spot you stand on today.
It was a good effort but your best effort will never be enough.
It would have been rather poetic if it came down to you and I for the Main Event to decide whose name would be engraved on a gold plate. The former partners going at each other's throats to decide who of the two actually carried the other and I know that is in the back of your mind. A distraction that will continue to eat away at you until you actually pin me for the 1, 2, 3. The last time we faced, I could tell you really wanted the victory over me. If anything else it would've been enough to gloat about for the next couple of months. However, just like your dreams of successfully completing the mighty task ahead of you...
It wasn't meant to be.
I think you've found something inside you that has made you honest to the world. You have revealed the fact that The American Dream isn't always as glorious as the patriots claimed it would be. This new truthful approach of yours has shown a man desperate to make a statement. This will be a case of too much, too soon. While I commend you for your steps towards finally accepting your role in our world, it doesn't change the man you are and that man will always outlive his usefulness. You are a worthy competitor, my former friend. I know for a fact that there is a fire inside of you that will never go out but you will always only be a worthy competitor...
And never will you be a successful champion.
{Sense stands from his seated position and walks out the door to his former cell. We follow to find the entire facility in ruins. Menston had been closed for years and it was partly due to Sense's eventual departure from the good graces of Christian Savage. But that is a story for another day.}
Lex Sense: My own personal prediction for this tournament's ending is quite biased but I can see it no other way. Destiny is tugging at my heels, clinging to fate's choices of pitting good against evil. I am the representation of everything Cable Arcane is running from and Cable holds all the qualities I am terribly envious of. I share his sentiment about it coming down to me and him. It seems appropriate that the champion would be decided by polar opposites who really don't need the belt to hold claims of being one of the best.
Mike needs it.
Joe needs it.
But you and I, Cable...
We don't need it.
We want it.
And those are two completely different things. While the rest of the sheep battle over bragging rights, we battle to satisfy our own unique urges in life. You can look upon me and see a liar and I would never say that you are wrong. I am a monster in that fashion. My horrid ability to simply wash all facets of emotions from my being as if they weren't there to begin with is despicable. I find myself spending night and day wishing I could do as you have suggested. I hope that one day I will find a way to be a better son, a better brother, a better father, a better husband, a better man but I will not hold my breath. I am who I am and nothing can change that.
This is not a choice but a way of life, Cable.
If you fear me or not, that is your prerogative. I do not lose sleep over how you see me and I do not need your pity. I have accepted what it is that I am long ago and you will never get me to question what it is I have become. These hands are tools used for weeding out the weak and I can tell you right now that it is you this company doesn't need as a champion. You who wastes his time running away from pretty girls because he is afraid of how they make him feel. You can barely handle your own emotions and you wish to carry an entire company on your back. Your self-righteous bound by honor rhetoric may wok on the company you keep but I will not be intimidated by archaic ideals.
Especially not from a villain scratching at his own skin to find the hero that doesn't exist.
While you play hide and seek with who you really are, I have accepted myself for every bloody brutal detail that continues to culminate flaws into my being. I have no worries or doubts about my future. I know exactly where I am headed and nothing will deter me from my path. You have not seen through my facade. You've only seen what I wanted you to see. There was never a choice, never a different path that would've made me a better everything. I was raised and trained to be a monster but I was born to be a beast. Who I am, what I do, it's all a part of what makes up my individualism. I never claim to be anything more than what I am and I never act a part.
I simply am.
I believe the final two will be you and I. Cable. It will be then that you taste your first real defeat. You may not have a perfect winning record here in IWF but you haven't lost yet. This Sunday at Lineage you will save your pity for yourself when I utterly decimate every fiber of your being. I am already in your head just as you are in mine. Too much time has been spent going through the motions in a tournament I won from the very beginning when I outlasted every single one of you.
I only pray that you could live with yourself when you realize my lies are only disguised truths you fight to deny.
I will be the first Imperial Champion and on that day every single one of you will bow your head sin defeat.
This is my world and you all are bystanders sent to witness my bloody ascension.
Good luck, Cable.
Even I hope you can come through with your promise of defeating me.
But I know it will only become another broken promise you will have to live with.
{Lex heads towards the exits of the abandoned facility when a sniff of the air would reveal a cologne he hadn't smelled in years.}
Sebastian Savage: Quite a display you put on in the Circle's meeting. I don't think I have ever seen my father manhandled in that fashion.
{Sense turns his head to see Sebastian Savage. The man responsible for the sudden memory surge after seeing him last week. He is also the newest employee of IWF.}
Lex Sense: Do you have a point?
Sebastian Savage: Not really. Just got back into town and figured I should contact you.
Lex Sense: So you flew all the way over here to Menston.
Sebastian Savage: Figured it would be appropriate. This is the place where I first laid eyes on you and this will be the place where we lay down some ground rules.
Lex Sense: Keep your rules to yourself, mate.
{Lex begins to march off when two attractive ladies step in front of him. Sense scoffs before turning back to Sebastian.}
Lex Sense: Are they supposed to stop me?
Sebastian Savage: I certainly hope it doesn't get to that point.
{Sebastian walks around Sense to stand in between his beautiful aides while the giant simply stares before speaking up.}
Lex Sense: What do you want?
Sebastian Savage: Our society seems to be on the verge of dividing thanks to you. The bloodthirsty seem to appreciate your knack for violent entertainment. This division in our ranks simply will not do. You are no leader. You are simply enjoying pulling them on their short leashes like they did to you for so many years. You have found a place among us and now it seems you will be our undoing.
Lex Sense: So?
Sebastian Savage: You care not for what we do. I knew my father was making a mistake when he brought you into the fold. However, it is too late to change that but not too late to inform you that you will cease and desist from stirring up this minor rebellion. We can work together.
Lex Sense: Can we?
Sebastian Savage: Yes. We can.
{Sense scoffs and then pushes through the trio, nearly sending two ladies to the floor as he walks away.}
Lex Sense: I am through taking orders from anyone. You do what you must.
{Sebastian shakes his head, disappointed in the proceedings.}
Sebastian Savage: You leave me no choice.
{The scene fades on the backs of Sebastian and his two aides as Sense disappears out the doors.}
There is nothing left to say.
But there is plenty left to do.
The history we make at Lineage will always be remembered.
The history I create as IWF's champion will never be forgotten.
When I have finally beaten the best to become the best, the three of you can go to sleep at night knowing there will always be tomorrow...
But there will only ever be one man to be listed as the first ever.
Time to find out what The Future holds.

{Lex begins to march off when two attractive ladies step in front of him. Sense scoffs before turning back to Sebastian.}
Lex Sense: Are they supposed to stop me?
Sebastian Savage: I certainly hope it doesn't get to that point.
{Sebastian walks around Sense to stand in between his beautiful aides while the giant simply stares before speaking up.}
Lex Sense: What do you want?
We can.
{Sense scoffs and then pushes through the trio, nearly sending two ladies to the floor as he walks away.}
Lex Sense: I am through taking orders from anyone. You do what you must.
{Sebastian shakes his head, disappointed in the proceedings.}
Sebastian Savage: You leave me no choice.
{The scene fades on the backs of Sebastian and his two aides as Sense disappears out the doors.}
