OOC: Yes this is totally stolen from what culture, but who cares?
"Hi, I'm Tyler Jacobs from the IWF Network, Lineage is in the books, and this? This is..."
Surprise victories, an Heiress to the Throne crowned, a new champion, and one brutal family reuinion. Let's run down the show!
We saw Teddy Steele pick up some much needed points in a solid match against JFK, we also saw returning legend Falcon move literally up the ladder against the hot prospect JJ Gillmen. We had arguably one of the biggest upsets of the night, and perhaps even a match of the night candidate from Dre Cutler, toppling the former Imperial Champion; Mike Laszlo. We had Cable Arcane almost knock Nighthawk the hell out, just to prove a point! Arcane moves up the leader board, but I hear that this is just match number one in a supposed best of five series, so I'm very much looking forward to what comes next. But, perhaps the biggest shock and upset of the night goes to "Addysin Starr" defeating the most dominant Man of Steel Champion in company history, Ryan Shane not only to score points towards the Heir to the Throne, but also the Man of Steel Championship, making her, the first ever....Woman of Steel.
This just isn't going to sit well, is it?
Going into this match nobody had any expectations. Both guys are new to IWF and we don't really know them all that well. However, they really got over their animosity towards each other and after a match filled with shenanigans Noah Field picks up the victory, but it doesn't damage Chris King in any way. I mean, how good does he look after putting up with all that crap and almost winning? Something tells me that this? It ain't over.
I wish I could say something other than - "Isn't Paige Garcia such a dominant champion?" It's been a recurring comment and this week didn't show anything different. While it was refreshing of Kate to try new things and switch up her offence after previously failing to win the title from Paige before, you have to start wondering, who else is left for Paige to fight? And how long before she decides to move on towards the Diamonds Championship?
Holy crap. What the hell happened here? This was such an emotional, angry, and violent match - my pick for match of the night. That saw two former best friends push each other to the limit, then....what in the blue hell happened!? Laura Howlett flanked by Cable Arcane and Zasshu came down and distracted everybody while Spike - freaking - Kane, a man dying of lung cancer scaled the cage, only to spit in his sons face and hit him with a Spike Impailer, followed by another spit and a Diamond Cutter from Rob!? Where they in cahoots all along? How far back does this go? Is everything I know a lie?
ILLUMINATI CONFIRMED!
HALF LIFE 3 CONFIRMED!
As gutted as I am for Warren Kane, and hope that he's OK, that image of Laura being flanked by her men, Rob, Cable, Zasshu, and Spike, is one that this pay per view will be remembered for.
We've seen so many women enter and fall out of this tournament, the likes of Kate Steele, Fiona McFly, Shea O'Hara, even Kathleen Conway have all fallen by the wayside and out of all of it two bonafide main event talents emerged; Sara Garcia and Sarah Jade Wilson. The Garcia Twins had primo spots on this card, and could have made a clean sweap building to an eventual Diamonds Championship match between the two, perhaps. However, that was not the point as it was SJW's night, and in an excellent match she really proved herself and took what she wanted, and is the 2016 Heiress to the Throne. Congratulations to her.
If winning the heiress to the throne was the high point, this was probably the low point. Eternity is one of the scariest people I've ever seen, and her not being on TV for a while really doesn't help because you're not accustomed to her. It's a shock when she shows up and you're not ready for it. This match sadly could have gone a little longer, or had something missing, just that....ummph to really make it capable of headlining a pay per view. This isn't a shot at either lady, as I feel the match was hard to build towards with not knowing who will face Eternity, and a general lack of Eternity on weekly TV - OK, I'm a fan, just give me more dammit! I do feel however, that had this been a straight up one on one, and SJW was 100% we could have had a different ending, but alas....we have what we have.
Sarah Jade Wilson is your 2016 Heiress to the Thone
But Eternity is still your Diamonds Champion!
That's all for now, this has been Lineage 2016's "What Just Happened!?" any comments, or things you disagree with? Anything you think I've missed? Please comment, and you can find me on twitter @tylertalks.
Thank you.
