Greetings everyone out there in IWF land. My deepest apologise for being so dark over the recent months, things have been a little hectic in the Jacobs household, my daughter recently turned two and my partner has been quite ill - so Tyler had to man up and run the house.
ANYWHO!
What the hell has been going on in IWF!? Since our last blog out here every single championship has changed hands! We've had legendary reigns come to an end, and new champions crowned - some even for the very first time! Let's give those champions and their titles a rundown, shall we!?
INVICTUS
Noah Field initially stole the championship from Chris King after a special guest referee match that saw King defeat Zasshu to become the Invictus Champion. Now, Zasshu was a tough champion and took pride in defending the belt whenever and wherever he could. Noah would then go on to emerge victorious at Legacy in a triple threat with both King and Zasshu, before defending the belt a month later at Extreme Endurance against the same opponents but this time in a ladder match, thus solidifying him as the true Invictus Champion. Going forward, Field has Mike Phoenix to look forward to as a challenger, after he earned the right to face Noah Field by defeating Freakke at Extreme Endurance. The match up between the two is approaching, but this week we see Noah Field take on Cable Arcane in a true clash of champions, and one has to think.....if Noah defeats Cable, maybe the Invictus gold might not be enough for him anymore!
SHIELDMAIDEN
Paige Garcia is officially the longest reigning Shieldmaiden in the history of IWF. That isn't a record she achieved without a lot of hard work. She successfuly defended the belt a massive seven times, and never turned a challenge down. Eventually the numbers game played too big of a part, and after holding the belt from April til September, the crown finally passed to someone else. That someone else? Former nCw Starlet; Crystal Millar. Some fans might not know much about Crystal as she's had a little hit and miss career here in IWF, but she made a name for herself in nCw alongside Zelda Knite. Now she's kickstarted her career by toppling the longest reigning Shieldmaiden and quite possible the champion with the most defences in the company. Crystal has big boots to fill, and her first defence? Former, and shortest reigning Shieldmaiden in IWF history; Shea O'Hara. The two clash at Xtreme Open Fight Night, and with both women trying to revitalise their careers, we should be in for a great match.
MAN OF STEEL
The Man of Steel championship has always been looked upon with a great amount of respect. It's always been believed that the champion holding the belt was one of the hardest working, most resilient, and skillful wrestlers on the roster. Ryan Shane was no exception to the rule and built himself quite the reputation as the Man of Steel, but seemingly fell off the face of the earth after losing the championship to Steele O'Buffington, wrestling on behalf of Addysin Starr - meaning she became the first woman to hold the Man of Steel Championship! Less than a month later though "Addysin" would lose the belt to James Franklin Karn. A man who had been calling himself the "Real MOS" for a month or so, JFK would become the actual Man of Steel as well as starting his "union" KIWA. JFK was immediately met with a chorus of challenges for Open Fight Night, but cunningly dodged them - sadly this backfired and he was booked in the first ever Extreme Endurance match against Dre Cutler, Bob Pooler, and Spike Kane. The so-called God of Xtreme would emerge victorious and have the right to call himself the Man of Steel. As we approach the Xtreme Open Fight Night it seems that Spike is yet to have a challenger, but rest assured JFK has voiced his intent, and if Bob Pooler can topple the "Blood God" what could that mean for the belt? Either way, Spike has vowed to make the "Man of Steel Great Again" and challenged his stablemate Cable Arcane to see who can have the best reign. Who says sportsmanship is dead?
DIAMOND
Eternity. What can be said about Eternity that hasn't been already? She is one of a kind, unique, and one hell of a competitor. She is the longest reigning Diamonds Champion by more than fourty days (which is a huge feat in and of itself) and the second longest reigning champion in IWF history. Not to be sniffed at, Eternity was always great at making her presence felt and known. It seemed like third time was the charm as Eternity's third reign will forever go down in history, taking on anyone who would dare challenge her....eventually, people seemed too afraid of Eternity to step up and challenge for the Diamonds title. So how was that remedied? The ENTIRE DIAMONDS DIVISION stepped up to challenge for the belt in one of the craziest and longest matches in IWF history. It was a match fitting on the champion, and end that seemed like it was the only way to stop her but eventually, they did....and low and behold, it was the first ever Diamonds Champion who returned to action and claimed the Diamonds Championship for herself for only the second time. That's right, Jessica Reed returned at Extreme Endurance despite dirtsheets claiming she wouldn't. Fans were wowed, and maybe even some of the competitors too....but either way, Jess is once again the champ....and we have to wonder what is next? Will Eternity want a rematch? Will Paige Garcia step up after being dethroned? The Diamonds division has had some life forced into it, with fresh blood, and returning superstars....the only way is up ladies.
IMPERIAL
Roberto Verona. Officially the longest reigning champion in IWF history. The boss himself set an example to all champions in the company, and Eternity only falls a week short of equaling the reign, but Verona also defended the championship six times and only lost the belt by being stripped of the championship after losing a match against The Ace by DQ. Roberto seemed to be playing the smart game, but the board of directors had other plans. It took the IWF three whole months to find a replacement champion, and that came with the winner of the 2016 Heir to the Throne, Cable Arcane defeating Jayson Matthews who earned the right to the title match against Warren Kane the month before (a match that ended with Spike Kane and Rob Diamond attacking Warren, who hasn't been seen since.) Cable dispatched Dre Cutler in the final, and breezed past Jayson Matthews to finally call himself the Imperial Champion and put credence to his claims of being the "#BestintheWorld" as the House of Howlett rolls forwards, they've lost the Invictus Championship, but gained the Imperial and the Man of Steel. Cable is leading the company into a new era, and he doesn't seem scared of a challenge, or a fight. He has laid the law down, he will be a fighting champion, and he will take on whoever he deems worthy. After Dre Cutlers victory last week, he could choose to face Cable Arcane for the Imperial Title, or Spike for the Man of Steel. The smart money? We're gonna see a rematch from the Heir to the Throne Final. Either way, Cable is going to do everything he can to make sure people pay attention and believe him when he shouts for everyone to hear, that he is the best in the world!
