Ed’s “Weekly” top five returns for a record breaking SECOND week in a row. I’m glad everyone enjoyed the first installment and I hope I continue to live up to your expectations!
NUMBER 5
Nighthawk
Nighthawk makes his first appearance in the top five this week after picking up a definitive win over Zasshu. Nighthawk has had quite the roller coaster ride here in IWF, challenging for multiple championships since joining but never quite doing enough to win one. With a win over Zasshu, a former Man of Steel and Invictus Champion, Nighthawk definitely puts his name back into the championship conversation, which title and against who? That’s anyone’s guess but with the elimination portion of the CWI starting soon, Nighthawk could very easily find himself in the finals if he continues what he started this week and keeps pushing himself forward.
NUMBER 4
Jinx
Jinx is making her second appearance in the top five and moving up a place! While her opponent left a lot to be desired Jinx did not let that slow her down. She took full advantage of her booking and continued to demonstrate why she may be the next face of the Diamond’s division. Jinx is a mix of the supernatural and the down right terrifying, bringing a new flavor to the division and adding something this writer feels it desperately needs, an influx of new blood. Jinx may be able to see the future but I personally can’t see a future where Jinx isn’t a champion, perhaps even before this year is out. Crystal Millar after all does need an opponent.
NUMBER 3
Chris Fenell and Jayson Matthews
I’ve got a tie for third this week as both men were very impressive in their bouts this week. When the CWI was initially announced I wasn’t sure how proactive and or excited people would be about it but both of these men showed that it is doing exactly what it was designed to do. Showcase new talent while also giving older characters a new place to shine. Both Chris and Jayson portray more light hearted characters than most and both are extremely entertaining to watch. I think it’s safe to assume both have secured a position in the elimination portion of the tournament but I do hope when the CWI is over both continue to perform week in and week out as they are personalities IWF greatly needs.
NUMBER 2
Falcon
Bob Pooler could very well have the come back story of the year here in IWF but the real come back kid who has flown under the radar is the Immortal One himself, Falcon. Since returning Falcon has won more than he’s lost and even given the Imperial Champion, Cable Arcane, a run for his money. This past week he secured himself a spot in the Extinction Event, a match that pits a team of challengers against a team of champions, which essentially means Falcon has a shot at all three of the male championships. Falcon has been silent since his return to IWF but his manager once proclaimed he would speak when he won the Imperial Championship, that day could be fast approaching as for the second time he will find himself across the ring from the reigning champion.
NUMBER 1
Eternity
Only the second person to place in the top five two consecutive weeks in a row, Eternity moves up to number 1 after a big win over Fiona McFly. Eternity lost her Diamonds Championship in what I feel was controversial fashion but week after week she continues to show why she is the premiere athlete in the Diamonds Division and the one women everyone should fear. The Extinction Event is right around the corner and Eternity just dominated the face of hope in the Diamonds Division, could this be a sign of things to come? Are dark days once again ahead for the Diamonds Division? Eternity has never been very mentally stable but one has to wonder what lengths she will go to to become the unprecedented four time Diamonds Champion. Hopefully the division survives whatever it is she does.
