WHAT JUST HAPPENED!?
Hello everyone, I'm Tyler Jacobs! Danger Zone 2017 is in the books and I'm here to talk to you about WHAT JUST HAPPENED!? We just saw one hell of a show that saw some insane things go down, from the bottom of the card to the main event which we're gonna kick right off with because how could we not!?
WE HAVE A NEW IMPERIAL CHAMPION!!!!!
That is right! Talk about one hell of a swerve right? Noah Field has been the sheep among the wolves for a long time amongst the House of Howlett, the one that never really belonged but nobody saw this coming did they? If you tell me you did, I'm calling BS because I don't believe you. Cable has been the feather in Laura Howlett's cap, the longest reigning Imperial Champion, the unstoppable force, the man who has defeated every single challenger who has come his way. It's true that the House has been divided ever since Rob Diamond was sent packing by Steve Awesome and Spike Kane all but lost his mind since the tragic accident that took the life of his son, but Cable Arcane still seemed dominant, and stayed true to his claim that he never needed them....but how insane was it that Laura Howlett of all people was the one to cost him his championship? One thing is for sure, there will be hell to pay when Cable Arcane gets his hands on Noah Field, and maybe even Laura herself....if we know anything about Noah at all, we know he's not afraid to duck a challenge, and we know he won't try to defend Laura at all.
Who can possible stand in the way of one incredibly pissed off FORMER Imperial Champion?
Speaking of pissed off former Imperial Champions, do you think Spike Kane just killed Falcon!?
I mean he powerbombed him off a freaking balcony! The self proclaimed God of Steel did the same thing to Andrew Jacobsen from the top of a steel cage recently, so it only felt fitting that he'd try and escalate in the kind of way only Spike could, right? I mean, from the get go this match seemed so eerily wrong, almost like the cops were gonna burst in and arrest everyone right off the bat. From the run down dank and dark ancient XwF Arena to the scary quietness to just the brutal way the two of them were laying into each other. I mean one thing is for sure, if Falcon was unable to be cleared to wrestle before this "match" went down, after that powerbomb and the following shooting star press? I don't think we'll be seeing Falcon any time soon, I swear to you....Spike was out for blood....and I'm scared to think of where the Man of Steel Champion will be aiming that fury next!
Elsewhere we saw a huge return in Alexis Caffrey as she teamed up with her husband Mike Laszlo to defeat all around legend Steve Awesome and his beau Mandi Matthews in a surprisingly great match that could have stolen the show. The buzzing rivalry building between Awesome and Laszlo is one that has been building slowly in the background but it's one that could quite easily step into the foreground and take the attention of absolutely everyone in the building because these two guys can go better than the vast majority of the roster on any given night, and something tells me it is far, far, from over...and hey, I'm always gonna be happy to see Alexis back in the ring, now I just hope we get to see her make #BeatUpFiona a real thing.
Speaking of our ever increasing Diamonds Division we saw our two dominant champions defend their titles in two great matches, Paige with an incredibly dominant showing and Eternity in a hard fought close match up that word has it has already been booked to a rematch at the next Open Fight Night - which should show you how close it was, we even had Fiona and Pandora wrestle to a time limit draw with Pandora showing a side to her we haven't yet see, which was pretty interesting. With the upcoming Diamond in the Rough tournament, competition is only going to get tougher, and I for one, cannot wait.
The only other championship to change hands last night was in my eyes the match of the night, and that was the Invictus Championship, Bob Pooler and JFK have had quite a few matches over the last six months in and around the Man of Steel division with Spike Kane, but this was their first one on one and boy did it deliver, there were some hard truths to the roster itself delivered by James, but Bob had some harsh words for JFK himself and for the first time in a long time it seems like Bob Pooler is right where he belongs, an IWF....Champion.
Well, my mind is frazzled, the show blew my mind. It had some crazy ups, and some weird lows, but it was IWF in every facet. Now the build towards High Stakes begins and the road to Night of Immortals is underway, the stories of revenge have begun, redemption is being paved....and just some batshit crazy violence.
I'm Tyler Jacobs, and I'll see you next time.
