She hurried the bags out of the cab putting them on the sideway carefully. Her long blond hair tied up and back in a bun as she fumbled in her purse for money, The driver didn’t know english and instead mumbled a few words of Japanese. Alicia shook her head not understanding, he quickly grabbed a few notes out and handed them over, A few men standing out front of the building stared and laughed.
The men were mostly Japanese except one goofy looking foreigner. His hair was long and cut to shoulder length. He kind of looked like future Trunks when he had long hair in dragon ball z. Alicia smiled and looked back at the driver handing over a few notes, the driver looked down and smiled. As he was about to close the door the foreigner walked over shaking his head speaking japanese. After what seemed like a heated exchange the driver handed him a few notes and drove off angrily
He said something in japanese that sounded rude before looking down at Alicia with a goofy smile. “He was trying to rip you off” The japanese was replaced by an american accent. He handed her the money and Alicia smiled with a small nod. “I’m Sean...Sean Demont…” He held out his hand, she looked down at it for a moment before shaking it with another smile mustering up a small voice inside. “I’m Vi-Alicia...Alicia Lukas.”
Sean have her another smile, his face covered in a thinly trimmed beard. He stood in a pair of training shorts, and slip on shoes with a t-shirt that read “Kyoto-sun training academy” Alicia’s eyes widened as she read it. “You train there?..you’re one of the students?” Sean looked down at his shirt as he finger poked him in the chest and he laughed. “Yeah been here for two years now. Finally got off toilet duty….why?”
Alicia looked past him at the gathering of men outside, not one woman and Sean seemed to be the only foreigner. Her heart sank as she sighed deeply and leaned in. “I’m here to train…”
Sean held in a laugh and looked her up and down. She was about 5’8 and was tiny and thin. Maybe 115 pounds. Her long hair was tied back, blonde with a few silver streaks. Her lips covered in a frosted pink lip gloss and her face caked with makeup, she wore torn denim shorts and a white singlet top. Sean just stared and shook his head before chuckling as he talked.
“Yo-you’re here to train?.” He turned and pointed to the men at the door. “With them?” She gave him a small nod and Sean cleared his throat running a hand through his hair. “Look Alicia, they don’t like foreigners, much less women.” He sighed and shook his head as he heard the guys behind him talking in Japanese very loudly. Sean seemed to growl becoming agitated before spinning around yelling something at them.
They seemed to listen and laughed amongst themselves before Sean turned back. “It took me three weeks of coming in every day asking to train, offering all I could. Money, work..whatever...then two weeks of getting beaten up.” He sighed again and put his hand on her shoulder. “Two years I’ve eaten shit and only just now got some respect. I’m a Wakai otokonoko…”
Alicia looked confused as Sean sighed and rolled his eyes “A young boy….I’ve only had a few matches and in the gym I was still getting my ass kicked...you won’t find what you’re looking for here Lic...go home…”
Sean turned as the other men went inside, he followed and she stood alone outside the dojo, she looked down at her hands, her fingers, they trailed up to a small silver locked that dangled around her neck, she clutched it in her hands and her teeth seemed to grind together. She took a deep breathe, her eyes trailing back up from the ground directly in front of her to the old style heavy wooden door, she growled grabbing her bag making her way inside.

"For years I toiled away. I did menial humiliating jobs just for the chance to get in the ring with the legends of Japanese wrestling. To sit at their feet, learn their craft and be treated as an equal."
Alicia smiles, a bright white toothed grin flashing out from her deep ruby red lips. Her long golden hair flowed down her face and shoulders.
"But that never happened. See five years ago I left my life in the united states. My family, my friends, the expectations laid on me. All of it, gone. But I arrived in a place that was cold and unforgiving. A place dominated by the ideas of a warriors code. And one that was against foreigners and even more so against women."
"It's not like it is here in the states. I mean there has always been a stupid biased ideal against woman being real wrestlers. For years we were a side show dedicated to showing tits and ass over competitions of athleticism and brutal skills. But all that has slowly changed and one of those bright shining lights of equality has been IWF. See I'm not one of those woman who thinks that intergender rules are the way to go. I want to prove I'm the baddest bitch alive and the greatest female professional wrestler in the world..."
"I don't want to face Spike Kane or Roberto Verona..."
"No, I want to step in the ring with Eternity, Jessica Reed, the garcia's. I want to see what all these new collections of "diamonds" have in this company. This place and the division should be a shining beacon of hope in womens wrestling and I don't just want to "be a part" of it. No....I'm not here to take part. I'm here to take over...."
She smiles slowly and folds her arms over her chest, a black tight fitting iron maiden shirt covers her toned muscular body.
"Since I signed my contract I had people ask me, Alicia why didn't you join sooner and enter the Diamonds in the rough tournament?. You know I thought about it and while the competitors in that tournament are quite obviously talented I didn't think it was right to take that spotlight and use that as a way to jump over people to the head of the line. I take great pride in starting from the bottom and working my way up through the signed of destruction of the other Diamonds."
"See I have a name outside of all this. I have a name in Japan, in europe and I started to build one in the states but I'm also smart enough to know that name and reputation only go so far. When you want to make an impact you can do it one of two ways. You either burst in and go for the top cold and risk the floundering abyss of failure. Or you take the more measured approach, you kick the basement door in and you start climbing the building going floor by floor annihilating everyone in your path so when you do reach the top....you look back and everyone knows they're already beaten...."
"I would rather start here, opening match, nothing gained or measured then build myself up to being someone...and that’s what I’m here to do. By any means necessary. I don’t pull punches, I don’t stop myself or go easy. I zero in on weakness, I have no mercy. And when I have any of you good and injured...well…”
Alicia smiles and puts her hands in front of her in a gun formation before “pulling the triggers”
“I end it…..and I’ll end every single one of you I get in the ring with...starting with Astrid Hall….”

Kyoto Japan
The floor was fuzzy. The light blue mat beneath her feet faded in and out as the japanese lettering scrawled on it faded in and out of view. A puddle of sweat pooled beneath her. Her long blonde hair fell from the ponytail and settled on her shoulders. Alicia breathed heavily as she heard them. The laughter, the mocking tone. Each male student, each voice hit her like a knife in the heart. One voice, an american one cut through, it begged, it pleaded.
Stay down, it said. Stop Licia. It pleaded. Alicia breathed deep and looked up as it became clear again. She got up from one knee, and swayed before spitting blood on the mat with a grin. A twisted smile came across her face. The laughter stopped, the master stepped forward and leaned in with a forearm, the clubbing noise of bone on bone echoed through the dojo and it all went black. “ Licia?....Lic!.....hey come on dude wake up….”
His voice cut through the darkness. Her eyes opened and the bright light from above caused a tremendous amount of pain. She sat up and shook her head trying to get rid of the haze. Sean grabbed some water and handed her the bottle. She took a drink and a deep breath looking around. Everyone was gone. The master, the other trainers, the students. Everyone but Sean and Alicia. ”You’re insane Lic. Why’d you get up?. You should of stayed down…”
“How long was I out?....“ Sean stayed silent and just shook his head, his hand drifted to her face with a cloth wiping the dried blood from her lip and the side of her face. Alicia looked at it and laughed with a shake of her head, fresh bruises on her face and body mixed with older more faded ones as she sat herself up, Sean looked down and to the side obviously distraught and concerned. “You were here for about an hour….” Alicia scoffed with a laugh under her breath. No one checked on her except Sean. For the last hour she laid there unconscious. The others simply left her there. They gave more respect to a dog or a runaway farm animal. She looked over at Sean who just shook his head sadly. “Why do you do it Lic?...seriously...why are you here?. I get you have a dream but they’re killing you…. “
He reached out and ran his fingertips down her face. Alicia stayed staring forward. Every hit replaying through her mind, every moment where she asked for more. And how now her fear of it had gone. Something she never had with Ronnie. Her mind flashed further, the hits from a man who was supposed to love her. Being 15 years old lying on the floor beaten and crying….never again…She stayed zoned out, staring ahead. She doesn’t know why he did it or what would possess him too. There was no lead up, no opening or discussion. No signs or reason. Sean leaned forward and turned Alicia’s head to his kissing her slowly. After a few moments he pulled back and Alicia looked at him, no emotion, nothing but a small look of shock. Sean swallowed hard and looked down. ”I’m sorry…. “
“Don’t….don’t ever do that again Sean….” She stood up, he tried to grab her wrist for a moment but Alicia pulled away, she stormed over to a bench grabbing a pair of scissors before slamming the bathroom door. Sean panicked getting to his feet running over to the dark brown door. He pounded on it with both fists after trying the lock. “Licia!....LICIA COME ON! Don’t do anything stupid I’m sorry! LIC!”
After a few moments the latch unlocked. Sean stepped back and Alicia stepped out. But no longer was it the same prim and proper looking princess. A pile of long curly blond locks laid on the floor, her hair was cut short all over except her fringe which now swept across her eyes. She growled and stormed past him slamming the scissors down on the desk. “I’m done playing games…..”

Alicia smirks and looks up through her hair, sher paces back and forth with ba small laugh escaping her lips. She slides her hands in the pockets of her jeans, a black leather biker jacket over her Iron Maiden shirt.
“You know Astrid. Before I signed here I had never heard of you. Not surprising in a business like professional wrestling. See before we sign with larger international companies we live like nomads. We go from town to town, state to state, country to country, continent to continent. We work our trade and we show everyone what we can do in hopes of building names for ourselves. And I know at the time of performing this you have already done your promo and people have heard every single word you have to say….”
“I could sit back listen to it all and simply tell you how and why you’re wrong but instead I’d like to make it perfectly clear who you’re dealing with. See I’m not just your average female competitor. I’m sure some of our fellow Diamonds look at your six foot two frame and wonder just how they’re going to compete with someone of your reach and size advantage. And I must admit I’m not used to stepping in the ring with a woman bigger than me...far from it, when I was in japan I dealt with women who were smaller, faster and deadly….”
“But you..you’re different…”
“A tall, well build norse warrior ready to throw down….a beast of a woman ready to fight….”
Alicia shivers and smiles wide licking her lips.
“Oh so exciting….”
“I don’t run from any challenge, nor do I show fear. See in the years before I ran from my home and family I was married off. I was paired up with who I thought was an uptight southern gentleman. After living in a very real helland after feeling what it’s like to be told I’m nothing and that I don’t matter do you think your hollow words and lacking skill can stand up to me.?”
“You’re a tall joke who dismisses other peoples accomplishments while waving around an accolade in a developmental company no one cares about. Just because I haven’t cared about what you said to me doesn’t mean I didn’t go back and listen to your self indulgent tripe on Kate Steele….”
“You beat her, you have Emma Danielson as your manager, you seem to think this makes you worthy of something?.”
Alicia rolls her eyes and paces back and forth faster.
“Emma Danielson, your manager is a failed experiment in a wannabe tough girl who never reached the heights she should have who will now sit there and live vicariously through you. And Kate Steele the woman you seemed to so admire?. She’s more obsessed with singing her little depressive songs and her closeted husband than wrestling…”
“Do yourself a favor, get yourself a killer instinct. There was once a time when I was looked at as a silly little blond haired gaijin who didn’t belong and who had delusions of honor and respect. Then very slowly, through headkicks, head locks and some of the worst pain I had ever felt in my life, I learned the difference. You want to have respect for someone Astrid?...respect yourself and fuck everyone else….”
“There’s talented women here I would love to mix it up with, women who I know can give me a fight and based on your size alone you can give me a challenge. But if you don’t have the drive and killer instinct and the sheer will to win and do whatever it takes then you will not do a damn thing here except end up like your never was trainer or the has-been you just beat….”
“For all I know you might actually have real talent, I saw glimpses of it in your win….but as I said Astrid you need to be aggressive and need to know that the only person you can rely on is the tall bitch who stares back at you in the mirror….”
“Your warrior spirit, your respect, all of it will mean nothing and will be torn away if you don’t accept it. I’ve spent six years travelling the globe, facing some of the best in the world. I’ve headlined shows in japan and euope and now I want that here in the united states and no one is going to give that to me I have to earn it and I’m under no illusions….”
“Wrestling never hands you anything...this world….you take it by the throat and you squeeze until the bitch stops fighting back and it knows you’re the master….and that’s what I am...a master...now you need to grow a set and stop being the fucking apprentice…..”
“On my sacrifice debut I’m going to look to use you to make a statement, I’m going to beat you up bad and make you tap or knock you out and it’s not because I hate you or think you’re weak, it’s because I have to...I need to….and you’ll see why one day….”
