Alicia’s home, New Jersey
Alicia paced back and forth in her lounge room, her hands fumbling together as she breathed deep and ran her hands through her hair. She looked down at her phone reading over the message again. She smiled and bit her bottom lip replying back. After a few moments the nervous energy returned as she seemed to wear out a trench in the carpet.
After a few moments the door opens and Jason Maxwell, Alicia’s father steps through and under the door frame. His large seven foot frame and huge shoulders barely fitting through, Alicia turns and looks at him, he raises an eyebrow and sets the two six packs down with a sigh.”What’s wrong princess?”
Alicia fumbles and fidgets more stepping towards him, her eyes seem to fill with tears before she whimpers and wraps her arms around his waist, her head popping up just above his midsection. Jason seems taken back by the sudden hug but wraps his arms around her with a sigh. “Daddy…..I need help….I…. “ She trails off, Jason seems to let his guard down kissing his daughters head holding her tight, he smiled lightly and sighed deeply before speaking, his deep booming voice calming her.
“You what darlin?.....Daddy’s here ok?....I can’t remember the last time I hugged you…” Alicia tears up and sighs stepping back wiping her eyes and taking a deep breath “Sorry, I just…...I needed you…” Jason smiled lightly and wiped her cheek with his thumb “hey...don’t you ever be sorry, I wasn’t there for you growing up, doesn’t mean I can’t be here now. You’ll always be my little girl Licia…..” She smiled and gave him a nod before sitting down. Jason grabbed a beer popping it open handing it to her, she gave him a nod before downing it in one go and burping. Jason laughed and handed her another.
“You can drink like your old man…..now, what’s wrong princess?” She takes a deep breath and looks up at him, Jason sits on the chair next to her and pops his own beer open. “Daddy it’s Sean…” Jason growls and shakes his head, his old steely blue eyes igniting with fire “Did he hurt you?...where is he?...I’ll kill that little mother fuc-” “No no nothing like that….I think I made a mistake saying yes to him and I don’t know how to fix it. He’s my friend, I love him like a friend but….I’m not in love with him and now I’m stuck and I don’t know what to do and...and….”
Her breathing staggers, she looks away. Jason puts his arm over her shoulder and sighs. “Honey, take it from an old dog who had to struggle to learn new tricks. Honesty is the best policy. But you have to sort it out first. Know your feelings baby girl. If you aren’t happy with Sean tell him, he’s a good kid, he will want what’s best for you…” She nods instinctively with a half smile “I’ve tried telling him, he gets to upset and promises he’ll change then we try and I have kept trying, I asked him to marry me for fucks sake daddy...I just…..I can’t do this anymore….”
She breaks down and cries, her head in her hands as the tears flow. Jason pulls her close and starts to rub her back and whisper in her ear singing a lullaby he sang to her when she was a toddler. Alicia swallows hard and looks up with a smile. “Thank you….I know I give you shit and I’m hard on you but...since we reconnected you’ve been….you’ve been a great dad….and I love you daddy...you know that right?....”
He gave her a smile and kissed her forehead “I know Princess...and I love you...I always did...letting you go was the hardest thing I ever did and it’s something I deeply regret….don’t stay with Sean and let that be a regret for you….” Alicia sighs and nods drinking the second beer, she shotguns it down again and burps louder, Jason just laughs and shakes his head running a hand through his silver hair. “That’s my girl…..”

Alicia sighed looking into the mirror. Her long blond hair was up and back on one side and swept over the top. She reached up pinning a pink flower in it. She bit her bottom lip, covered in a shiny pink lip gloss that matched her eyeshadow and black eyeliner. She held her stomach as the butterflies seemed to buzz around in circles. The tight green dress she brought for the occasion hugged her toned body.
She gave herself a reassuring nod as thoughts ran through her brain. Was this right?. What was she doing?. Could she resist him or herself?. She looked over herself and smiled impressing herself with the effort she put in, an effort she only ever did for Sean once, and when she did he didn’t notice. She turned and held the door knowing that he was on the other side.
She closed her eyes and turned the handle walking from the small bathroom out into the main room, a beautiful little resort hotel room with a balcony overlooking the beach. Travis stood there, in a pair of dress pants, brown leather shoes and a button up shirt left slightly open, he hummed to himself and turned to her, his eyes widening as he saw her with a small smile curving across his lips “Wow…. “ Alicia blushed wildly, her cheeks turning a rose colour “What?....”
She looked down as he stayed silent looking her up and down, he stepped forward and raised her face to his by placing a finger under her chin and lightly lifting her face to his, he stared into her eyes and smiled warmly causing the butterflies in her stomach to go nuclear. “You’re gorgeous….”
Alica smiled and blushed bright red staying looking at him, she felt herself falling deep but didn’t want to stop. Her heart pounded in his chest as he reached across her cheek cupping her face, Travis leaned in close and she felt his breath against her. She trembled a little and felt herself want it, despite it being wrong. Just as their lips were about to touch a tone played and Travis phone danced across the table.
He pulled back and swallowed hard looking down at it. Faith, Alicia said in her head. Her heart sank and the butterflies died, she felt sick to her stomach for a moment as she had avoided checking her own phone for fears of finding texts or DM’s from Sean, or even some kind of huge public display, the kind she hated, all over Twitter. Alicia sighed again and stepped back grabbing her bag, Travis looked at his phone and sent a message, another one returning before responding to that and then dropping his phone.
“Well that was easier than I thought…” Alicia turned confused, her eyes going from his smiling face to the phone which now turned over fast, over and over again with messages, l begging, pleading messages. Each one more desperate than the last. Each one a small love note to Travis. He shook his head and smiled. “Did you…..did you break up with her?”
He let out a small laugh, one of his hands in his pocket as he gave Alicia a small nod. He cleared his throat and stepped closer to her reaching down and taking her hand in his rubbing the back lightly with her thumb. “I know what I want….” She blushed again and reached in her bag pulling out her phone. She ignored the messages, the texts, the dm’s the missed calls. She glazed over the public outbursts sending one message “I’m sorry, I’m done”. She set her phone down and smiled at Travis, the phone flashed behind her “message failed”
“Are you sure you want me though?....” Travis grabbed Alicia by the hips pulling her body to his, she leaned down slightly kissing her passionately. The butterflies returned, her heart seemed to beat out of her chest and her knees went weak. This was it, it ran through her mind. This is what love feels like. This is what she’s wanted, needed. He was her other half. Travis Blake….was her heart….

Alicia sat alone, her hotel room empty. A single bag on the bed laid open with clothing packed in it. Rin gear on top with a leather vest over the side with “Alicia Lukas” printed on the back.
“I’ve travelled around the world. I’ve wrestled in the US, Canada, Japan, Europe, South America, Australia. And in that time I’ve been apart of some huge matches. But this weekend, the match I’m in has given me a feeling that I’d thought I’d lost after 6 years of running around the world….”
“I’m nervous…”
“I don’t see a problem in admitting it. I think about the match itself. The way it’s set up and not only is it a scary match but also it’s a main event. Four matches into my IWF career as a diamond I’m in the main event of a major Pay per view. Now I’m good, I know I’m good. Hell I pulled double duty last week and won the right to be in this match by beating 13 other women, then later in the night I faced and defeated Fiona McFly. I have more than proved my worth in the last two weeks.”
“And now I’m getting ready to step in the iron maiden against 5 other diamonds to earn a shot at the Diamonds title currently being held by Paige Garcia, All six of us will be ready to fight and scrap tooth and nail to earn that right, to taste that sweet victory and become the number one contender for the most important championship in women's wrestling today.”
Alicia nods with a smile on her ruby red lips, her long golden hair flowing out from under her hat, turned backwards. Her mouth moving as she chews some gum.
“The five women that will be stepping in the ring with me this sunday have just as much right to this match as I do, they also have the same odds of winning. But what this match comes down to is who can be the most vicious. Lizzy, Astrid, Shae, Pandora, Charity or myself?. I know Lizzy can be vicious when it comes to talking. She’s like an angry tiny little pixie bouncing around the ring. Thing is Lizzy, you are very talented. You’re athletically gifted, you’re determined and you’re not afraid to get your hands dirty.”
“The only downside is that you seem unfocused. You spend more time trying to think up clever insults than what you can do in the ring. The insults and promo work will flow Lizzy. You just need to calm it down. You show all this fire and arrogance and hey I admire that. I really do. To be so arrogant in the face of the overwhelming evidence that you’re more “middle of the road” is very impressive.”
“But you could win Lizzy, see this match will be brutal and violent and even though your high flying in ring skills won’t be as effective in this your size is a plus. You can scurry away and hide Lizzy. Hid from the monsters in this match like myself and Astrid…..”
“And speaking of Astrid, it’s nice to see you again. Last time you and I stepped in the ring I told you that I was going to win because of the simple fact that I didn’t have the same moral hangups as you. We fought and even though you are bigger and stronger you just don’t have that mean streak needed to be successful in the ring here. Sure all you have served you well in developmental. You ruled down there with an iron fist….”
“But in IWF you’ve stumbled, you’ve fallen and it has nothing to do with if you can “cut” it. I mean my god Astrid, look at you. You’re a six foot two beautiful amazon who looks like she could annihilate all ahead of her. You had a championship run and you have Emma Danielson as your trainer.”
Alicia laughs and smirks as the right side of her lips curl upward.
“And I cut you down like a cherry tree and my last name was Washington. See you got in your own head. You convinced yourself that I’m some kind of evil woman and that you are a beautiful bright light force for good. But these issues aren’t really ever black and white. You see me as the villain, as an arrogant woman hell bent on hurting people and causing misery when in reality that couldn’t be further from the truth. I'm not a bad person Astrid, I just don’t let the needs and wants of others become more important than my own.”
“Just like I won’t let the idea of of a feel good story interrupt my goals. See Pandora Freeman and Shae O’Hara are two women who have been in the IWF for a while. Both of them are tough, both of them are girls who outside of all this I could see being friends with, having a drink with and honestly enjoying their company. We could talk wrestling and music and braid each others hair….”
“In the ring I know they can “go” I know they can bring it and give me the challenge that I love. Hell I’ve seen Pandora do great things while watching from home. She’s been a mainstay in the Diamonds for almost a year. She’s had her ups and downs and I know so many people are pulling for her to finally win that big one. And the truth is she could. She could get in that ring and use her amazing strikes and speed and get the win….”
“Same as Shae. See those two are cut from similar cloth. Both are loved by the fans, both of them are lovely people and they are both talented. Pandora can do it for personal glory and Shae can do it as a tribute to Warren. But will they?. Think about it, these girls have had shots and have had opportunities and much like Fiona McFly they’ve just watched the fly by and insteads of grabbing them with both hands they’ve just kind of...waved goodbye….”
“Sad really….”
Alicia sighs deeply and shakes her head kicking the chair away as she stands up. Her top covered in a black “Periphery” shirt. Her hands slide into the pockets of her jeans.
“But one woman in this who seems to be a hot topic around here just as much as me is the final member of our six way cage-o-fun. Charity Crowne. Here’s a woman who knows how to get ahead by simply being a bitch. And hey I don’t have a problem with that. You’re young, acrobatic and are learning on the fly and you’ve done a damn fine job.”
“In fact I’m sure many people expect you to continue this amazing run by going through the Iron Maiden match and going on to face Paige. And who knows, they could be right, you could mow down the five of us and go on to that match and what va match it would be. That match is money and in pro wrestling that's what the company wants. They want to see stars rise to face the cream of the crop and any one of us could make a great match up for Paige or Gabriella Luna. Whoever comes out of that match with the title will have a contender worthy of the match at NOTI….”
“Now while I have sat or stood here and sung the praises of my opponents and freely admitted that the match could go to anyone I’d like to point out that in the short time I’ve been here I’ve made people stand up and take notice. I said it before I’m not here to simply take part in this great company or the division. I’m here to take over. It’s up to everyone else to stop me and I’m sure I’ll stumble. I’m sure I’ll falter but the difference between myself and the Fiona McFly's of this world is that I won’t simply take it, do the bare minimum and coast around saying it was “good enough”. See I learn from loses to become a better wrestler, I learn from my mistakes and in my life and my career I have made a fair few….”
“But those lessons have turned me into a walking, talking wrestling machine. I can get in there and throw other women around, I hit harder, I kick harder and I hold nothing back. And win or lose when all is said and done you’ll know you’ve been in a fight and I...or any of you...will have earned the right and the privilege of fighting for that title….”
