Okay so I'm not gonna lie......
I marked out like a little school girl when it all happened!
There I was, watching the show in the back with Coach Nighthawk and my sister. Of course she was all worried about Steve Awesome and having a dang window smashed over his head by the newly unmasked Rob “probably not lord dominicus again” Diamond and wasn't paying much attention. But you could ask coach about my reaction, pretty sure I spit my faygo Rock n Rye clear across the room when Warren Kane came out to confront his dad at Motor City Mayhem.
Dude...can you say intense?
If you didn't know, Warren and I, we are the Mighty Banana Sandwiches. We won joker in the pack together. It's probably a fact that I owe a lot of the small success I managed to get before I started going to school at the Wrestle Factory to Warren Kane. He was the first real friend I ever had in this business and when he went away I was devastated. It hurt to see what his dad did to him and to know that I couldn't do anything to help him hurt the worst. So I'm sure you can kind of imagine my surprise when Warren Kane returned and buried his foot directly into his dads face like
BLAOW!
Oh man it was so cool. Then he laid down the law! He let his dad know whats up and then he sent the so called “God of Steel” running up the mat like a scared little chump! Man....what a moment. What a moment in history. I had to go see him. I had to tell him how much I missed him and how proud I was of him.
But something was different.......

But something was different.......
With excitement in his eyes, Jayson Matthews makes his way down a hall way in the back of the arena. A few feet in front of him he saw Warren Kane walking down the hallway. Jayson's eyes light up with joy and he gets a running start down the hall and calls out his name.
Jayson Matthews: WARREN! DUDE!
Warren's head snaps in Jayson's direction and he see's Jayson running toward him but he doesnt really acknowledge him. Jayson finally catches up to him and Jayson wraps his arms around him with a hug and Warren just kind of stands there with his arms down to his sides.
Jayson Matthews: Oh man I missed you dude! Everyone was so worried about you dude, I'm so glad your back.
Warren Kane: …..yeah..
He was standing right there in front of me, but it didn't seem like he was there. Like he was looking right past me. Something didn't feel right.
Jayson Matthews: You wanna hang out later? I got some troubles at school I wanted to talk to you about....actually there is probably like a million things we need to talk about and-
Warren Kane: I'm busy.
Jayson lowered his head.
Jayson Matthews: yeah...of course your busy. Next time. But hey, long live the sandwich bro..
He looks up and puts his fist out for Warren to bump but when Jayson looks up he see's Warren had already turned and walked away.
Jayson Matthews: ...long live the sandwich...
He pulls his fist out of the air and turns and walks away with his head down.
I....
I don't really feel like writing anymore today...
I don't really feel like writing anymore today...
“So has anyone ever heard of the Mandella effect?”
We open up on Jayson Matthews staring into the camera, his eyes shifting back and forth making sure there isnt anybody listening to him speak.
“It's this thing people are talking about where you think something happened in the past but it turns out you were wrong about it the whole time. It's named after Nelson Mandella which is the Deal or No Deal guy and it's crazy!”
He stares into the camera all wide eyed and mind blown.
“Like how everyone remembers that Sinbad movie where he was a genie but in all actuality it never happened. Like, it was never made but somehow I remember that movie when I was growing up. I WATCHED IT MAN! It was real! I remember renting it from blockbuster video one time and seeing him in his purple genie costume and help save the little kid. Another good example is my tag match with Coach Nighthawk against the Lost Boys two weeks ago.”
He starts to rub his chin as he starts to unfold some more of this mystery.
“Now I've been told it happened. I've been told that Coach and I managed to pick up the win and the crowd really enjoyed it, but I'm going to tell you right now that I don't remember a single thing that happened during it.”
He shrugs his shoulders.
“I'm not sure if like I was sleeping during it or you know maybe the Lost Boys just hit like trucks and they hit me so hard that the lights were on but nobody was home you know what i'm saying? The Lost Boys are a legit tag team so it's possible but hey, regardless of how it happened I'm just proud to say that Coach Nighthawk and I came out winners and do you wanna know what that means? I'll tell you what it means, it means....”
He does a few stretches and limbers up his arms and then he leans back and cups his mouth with his hands.
“WIN NUMBER FOUR BAY-BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!”
He dabs out a bit and dances around but then suddenly stops and looks into the camera with a dead pan stare.
“Full disclaimer, I totally said that Lost boys were going to be win five last week when in reality they were actually my fourth win. Apparently I can't count. Thought I could.....stupid Mandella Effect...I choose NO DEAL! But just because I mixed up what stop I was on doesn't mean that Jayson Matthews Victory and Gravy train is still rolling on man and this week on Sacrifice I plan on rolling right along to the next stop. The next win. The full and official win number five.”
He stares at that five fingers and the palm there attached too and he starts to shake his head all around and his eyes get wide.
“and I can dig that sucka. I'm going for it now. If I want to be a five time, five time, five time......
He re-counts slowly in his head.
“five time, five time winner of matches in a row then I have to win this next match on sacrifice against none other than....Will Fennel and THATS GONNA BE EASYier said than done.”
He exhales and shakes his head as he thinks about the task at hand against the Pitbull.
“It's no secret that JFK and KIWA did a very generous thing and paid for my schooling and everything at The Wrestle Factory and I'll forever owe a lot to Mister Karn but where Mister Karn is a benefactor and a mentor in his own right, Chris and Will they took the time to be my friend. Hanging out with Will Fennel is always a party. The guy just knows how to have fun and he makes it look so easy that everybody else figures out how to do it too. I was pretty stoked to see his name on the card next to mine.
The smile is genuine but as he thinks of the next thing to say his smile fades away.
But the thing is I know he is going to be tough and quite possibly one of my most difficult tests I've faced since I started all this stuff earlier this year. I may not be at the top of my class, sometimes I've struggled, but you know what I know my worth and what I'm capable of. I can feel my progress. I know that this current Jayson Matthews could totally kick the crap out of the old Jayson Matthews that's for sure. But I also know that Will Fennel is no joke. He is one of the stiffest strikers in the game and he's quick to drop you on your head without you even knowing what happened. He's been in a successful all over the world in companies and organizations I only wished I could compete in and he's coming at me with a wealth of experience and knowledge. So you know yeah, short of Will having a little bit of ring rust from being in a tag team so long which you know, I'm not ruling out....”
He puts both hands up to see both of his “fingers crossed” on each hand.
“...I'm dealing with a focused and driven olympic pitbull and it's going to be tough, it's going to hurt, but if I have to step into the ring with The Pitbull Will Fennel then I'm going to have to figure out a way get one step ahead and take that pitbull to the will Kennel. HA! See what I did there?
He chuckles shakes his head and then snaps back on topic.
“Because I've been carving my path Will. I've been stepping into the ring with all comers and I've been walking out a winner. Everyone is wondering when i'm going to fail but you know what, I think there going to wait awhile because I've come to far for the train to come off the tracks now. I'm not going to screw it up just as soon as a tough challenge shows up in my way. no. I'm going to figure out a way to get around it.
Jayson steps forward toward the camera, his passionate eyes and ambitious grin facing the camera lens.
“So your god damn right were going to have a good match, one where I take everything you got and keep coming. A match where I prove that Jayson Matthews is a contender! With all due respect to a good friend of mine, Will Fennel, I'm coming to whip dat ass bro! I'm coming to throw dem hands brah, you fittin ta get da bidness broseph alexander. You may be good Will, you may even be the best but I can't beat you if I don't try. And I'm gonna try you all over the arena bro! I'm coming for win number five Will, and this train is going to keep on rolling wether you like it or not.
He rubs his palms together and nods his head.
“ And as for your big singles run......it's gonna have to start next week. Because this week you have an appointment with Bananas....
He stares into the camera.
“R-E....All over your face.”
Gordon Matthews: So how is school going?
We open up on Jayson Matthews and his grandfather, Gordon Matthews as they sit at a park and feed the ducks. It was kind of cliché but Jayson knew his grandpa liked it, and he liked him so it was all worth it in the end.
Jayson Matthews: Oh it's going great. I really like it. I'm learning so much.
Gordon tears a piece of bread off and tosses it to the ground and a duck runs up and snags the bite.
Gordon Matthews: That's good, I'm glad.
There was a small pause as Jayson looked around the small park. A small forest clearing to the right, a play structure to the left and the small pond in front.
Gordon Matthews: Look, I have something to say to you but I'm not sure how to say it.
Jayson Matthews: Just say it. It can't be that bad, whatever it is.
Jayson watches Gordon nervously toss another piece of bread to the right and Jayson's eyes follow the tiny projectile in his path.
Gordon Matthews: Okay, I'm just going to say it.
As Jayson was waiting for his grandpa to spit it out, something caught his eye standing in the small forest clearing glaring at him like a devil that almost made him leap out of his skin!
Gordon Matthews: I think you should stay home and stop going to school.
Jayson Matthews: W...W....WARREN!?
Gordon Matthews: I-what?
Jayson gets up and rushes toward the small clearing and looks around and is surprised to find there is no sight of Warren anywhere. A few moments later, Gordon catches up to Jayson. He catches his breath.
Gordon Matthews: What was that about?
Jayson looks around, hoping to find some proof to help him explain.
Jayson Matthews: I saw Warren Kane out here....or I guess I thought I did...and he didn't look right.
Gordon looks around.
Gordon Matthews: I dont see anything.
Jayson Matthews: I could have SWORN I saw him out here.
Jayson takes one final look behind him and finds nothing and he just shrugs it off.
Jayson Matthews: anyways...what were you going to tell me?
Gordon shakes his head and waves it off. The moment was shot.
Gordon Matthews: Don't worry about it son, we will talk about it some other time.
They both start walking back as the scene fades.
