It’s the night of High Stakes. It’s the night where one man must go through twenty-nine others, with the reward being a Imperial title shot at Night of the Immortals. If you are in the Roulette, you have a chance. If you are in the Roulette, you can make history.
It was at High Stakes last year that Ryan Shane began the journey that was finally going to put him on the map. The night didn’t start out great, Jake Keeton saw to that. There were plenty of times that Ryan would have let that bring him down, but not that night.
On that night...Ryan Shane made a statement.
He entered the Roulette at number eleven, and proceeded to do what no one would have predicted. Shane lasted till the final four, and had five eliminations. He may not have won the Roulette, but he showed everyone that Ryan Shane belonged.
When it came to the IWF, his time was Right Now!
The next twelve months were a rollercoaster. The highlight was winning the Man of Steel championship, a title he held for ninety-eight days. The low point…
Can we get some help?
The call come from one of the IWF medical staff members who were helping Ryan Shane to the back. He had just been brutally attacked by Spike Kane, an attack that very deliberate. Spike was making a profession of putting people on the shelf, and he wanted to add Ryan to the list.
They wanted to bring him to the back on a stretcher, but Ryan refused. He slowly made his way to the back with medical personnel following close behind.
Ryan Shane: I’m fine...I just need to sit down…
Paramedic: You’re not fine. You need to be seen someone. You need to go to the hospital.
Ryan Shane: I walked away on my own! I just need to catch my breath.
Paramedic: You could have internal injuries. The ambulance ride isn’t a suggestion. Let me do my job.
Ryan Shane: You’re more than welcome to try.
The paramedic team isn’t sure what to do. It looks like Ryan Shane will fight them to avoid being taken out of the arena.
Nicole Kingsley: Ryan, I must insist you listen.
The head physician of the IWF arrives on the scene to check on his condition. Her professional opinion agrees with the paramedic team.
Ryan Shane: I said that I was fine!
Everyone is just standing around not sure what to do as Ryan continues to decline medical treatment. Suddenly an IWF staff member rushed over to where they are with a cell phone.
Staff Member: I have a call for Ryan Shane.
Nicole Kingsley: Mr. Shane is in no condition to be taking calls.
Staff Member: They say it’s an emergency…
With a great amount a pain, Ryan makes it to his feet. He reaches for the phone to see who is on the other line. He suspects it’s his cousin checking in on him, but he is surprised by the panicked voice on the other end.
Ryan Shane: Karen, slow down, what’s going on?
He can barely hear her through the crying. What he can make out he doesn’t want to hear. In that instant tears begin to fall from his eyes.
Nicole Kingsley: Ryan, are you alright?
There is no answer from his lips. He soon loses grip on the phone and it drops to the ground. As everyone tries to find out what is going on, Ryan is unresponsive.
An instant later, Ryan Shane has collapsed on the floor.

In just a couple days Ryan will be in Columbus, Ohio. It’s the site of the biggest night of the IWF year, Night of the Immortals. It’s the night when you can cement your name in the annals of IWF history. It’s the one night you can’t afford to be at anything less than your very best.
Ryan wants to be at his very best, but his physical and mental state are at less than one hundred percent. While he may have been clear to return to the ring, he still doesn’t feel right. A match where he is going to be punished by five other men, and numerous ladders, isn’t going to do much to help with that.
His mental state....that’s further from being in top form. It may never be again.
That’s why with only a couple of days until the biggest night of his wrestling career, Ryan had to make a detour. The destination was Iowa.
We all face tragedy in our lives. Ryan has faced plenty of his own during his life. Nothing could prepare him for the tragedy that happened two months ago.
Ryan Shane: I don’t know why you insisted on being here.
Brian: It’s because despite what you say, you need people to lean on. I’m here because I want you to know that you never have to do anything alone.
Ryan Shane: This is the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through.
Brian: I know, and I’m so sorry. Do you want me to go with you?
Ryan just shakes his head. He steps out of the car and closes the door behind him. In his hands he holds a bunch of flowers and a teddy bear. He walks away from the vehicle and walks through the grass. If you take a closer look you can see that he is surrounded by headstones.
It isn’t long before he comes to a stop.
He kneels before two headstones. He places the flowers and the bear down on them.
They read....
Ryan tries his best to hold it together.
Ryan Shane: I know I haven’t visited as often as I should. It doesn’t mean I don’t miss and love you both every day. The two of you were my whole world, still are. There isn’t a day that I don’t blame myself for everything that happened.
He begins to cry.
Ryan Shane: If I was there, like I should have been, none of this would have happened. I was off chasing my dreams, when I should have been here with my family. Amber you were right, I should have stopped when you told me to. If I had, you would both be alive.
The tears begin to flow heavier as guilt washes over him.
Ryan Shane: That’s what makes this so hard. I need you both to know that, without you, all I have is wrestling. I need to know that it’s alright if I continue to wrestle. It’s the only way I know to get through this.
There is nothing else he can say as he just sits there and weeps.
As he waits for a sign, any sign, he finds none.

All I have ever wanted from the IWF was a chance to prove myself. I think that’s all any of us have the right to ask. I’ve done nothing that allows me to demand anything. I wasn’t happy with how things have gone, outside the match with Nighthawk, I feel like I was not being respected the way I should be.
Then I was informed about my involvement in the Joker in the Pack match. I was ecstatic, I’m finally getting the chance I deserve.
I don’t want to waste it.
I can’t waste it.
This could be my best opportunity to get an Imperial title shot. Those are not just handed out to everyone. I know I could challenge for another title, being two time Man of Steel champion sounds nice, not to mention getting my hands on Spike Kane.
But…
I want the big prize. I want people to say that even if it’s only for one night, Ryan Shane is the best.
I want to be Imperial champion.
There is only one problem, there are five other guys who want the same thing.

Night of the Immortals is going to be one hell of a night isn’t it boys?
I know that there are some people out there who think that this year’s Joker in the Pack isn’t the star studded affair that it usually is. I know that idiot Tyler Jacobs thinks of us as lesser. Easy to say from behind a webcam though isn’t it? Sure he says it wasn’t meant to be an insult, but it sure as hell felt like one.
Why don’t we prove to him and everyone else who thinks the same, that guys like us are more than capable of stealing the show?
I thought so.
The Lost Boys, Sam Braxton and Dean Coulter...the two of you are probably pretty excited about being placed into the match. As one of the only true team in the IWF it must be nice to have someone close to you to share the experience with. The two of you do everything together, even deciding to leave James Gilmore high and dry last week. As easy of a choice that was, it showed that winning wasn’t really your focus. Sure, plenty of the other guys on the roster would have done the same thing.
At Night of the Immortals, the Joker in the Pack match isn’t a team game. Both of you can’t win the match. So as close as the two of you are, what’s going to happen if the two of you are grabbing for the briefcase as the same time? Are you going to be able to do what needs to be done?
If either of you want to win the match, one or both of you will have to put your friendship aside. Are either of you capable of doing that?
Devlin Raine, we may have been teammates last week, but that was a one time deal. You may have come into IWF on fire by winning the Cruiserweight Invitational. An impressive feat at the time. But what did you do with that victory? You squandered it. A shot at the Invictus title and you failed to win it. It basically made you victory meaningless in the long run.
Since then, what have you done? Continue to fail? You had a shot at Spike Kane and couldn’t capitalize on that. I don’t have high hopes that if you win the Joker in the Pack briefcase, that you’ll know what to do with it. I’ve been waiting too long for a chance like this.
I promise I will make it count.
Derek Brooks, the biggest man in the match. A guy who if just given the chance, would surely break out. I remember when you burst on the IWF scene, and I remember beating you. I did exactly what I needed to do against you. If we ever face each other again, I’ll do the same. I know that when you get the chance you’ve made the most of it. That makes you dangerous.
I’m pretty damn dangerous myself Derek. Though I can’t help but wonder, if my team would have lost week, would I be on the outside looking in? You’re the only man in this match who wasn’t part of the six man tag last week. If I would have lost...would James Gilmore be in the match instead? Someone in the IWF sees big things for you, this could be your coming out party.
I’m sorry that I have to spoil it for you.
Will Fenell, the man who could be considered my biggest threat in the match. You have broken out lately, and I’ll admit I’m impressed. I know I gave you shit about being one of JFK’s lackeys, but you're just a ladder climb away from potentially making history. Where is he? He sure as hell isn’t ready to rock the horseshoe. That honor belongs to you.
This is going to be a learning experience..You’re not going to win the match, we all know that. But if you continue to prove yourself I see big things in your future. Future Invictus champion has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it? You don’t need JFK, or your brother. All that baggage does is hold you down.
Pretty damn hard to climb a ladder with all the extra weight.
I want to make this clear. I’m very grateful for the opportunity that is being given to me at Night of the Immortals. Just being a participant in the Joker in the Pack match is an honor. But I want to take a moment to point something out…
I’m the only star in the whole damn match!
When it comes to the IWF, I’m the only one who has really proven themselves. I’m the only one with any real accomplishments. People will point out how I lost my Man of Steel title to a girl, they will point out how Spike Kane handed me my ass on more than one occasion.
Let them!
I’m not going to let me IWF career be defined by moments. I’m going to let the whole of my career speak for itself.
When I climb the ladder at Night of the Immortals, and grab the briefcase, I’m going to remind everyone just who Ryan Shane is. It doesn’t matter if the Imperial champion is Cable Arcane, Andrew Jacobsen, or anyone else.
When it comes to the IWF...I’m not the future...
I am Right Now!!!
