Your scent reminds me of a place we used to go
The kisses placed upon my neck show signs of, no return!
The bed we fucked in, smells the same, and now the stench is fading
The taste of you inside my mouth remains but still I'm hearing
There's no love, everybody's crying
There's no truth, everyone's misguided

“No Ronnie...I swear I didn-”
The shot hit hard. A closed fist hitting the left side of her face. His balled up right hand connecting and making that sickening flat pack sound as everything went black. As they started to come back the vision was blurry, a ringing stayed in her ears as she could barely make out his voice. The accusations, the anger, his thick southern accent singing through the large room as he stepped closer. Violet was on her knees as she swayed and tried to get up. Ronnie shoved her back down. She landed hard as she slipped in her dress.
She looked up at him her eyes welling up as her cheekbone ached. A large red welt forming under her left eye. Ronnie tilted his head with a growl. A bottle of Jack Daniels in his left hand as he took a long deep swig. Violet shook as her hand raised up in a defensive position. Ronnie grabbed her arm yanking her to her feet violently before throwing her across the room causing Violet to crash into the wall shoulder first, the plasterboard cracking as she hits it.
Ronnie stepped forward again looking at the wall then down at her. “Stupid slut” He hissed his words putting the bottle on the table next to him. He pulled Violet back to her feet by her same arm twisting it. She squealed in pain and whimpered as the tears rolled down her cheeks. He just shook his head looking down at her, disappointed. Her long blond curls fell to one side as he let her go. She stepped back quivering.
“You’re fucking weak Violet. I know you’re cheating. I can smell em on ya.” Violet breathed hard shaking her head her lip quivering deep. “No, Ronnie I would nev-” His hand wrapped around her throat and squeezed. Unable to speak, unable to breath Violet shook and scratched at his arm. Ronnie pushed her against the wall leaning in close looking in her eyes. “You are mine bitch, my father basically paid your mother for you….you will not touch another man...ya fucking understand me?”
She gave him a nod, her eyes begging and pleading to be let go as she felt herself start to go light headed and black out. Ronnie let her go as she fell to the floor again coughing. Her throat burning in pain as she took in deep breaths, one after another her tears pooling on the floor. Ronnie’s laughter breaking through the fuzzy silence in her mind. She looked up and swallowed hard as he shook his head
“Get up Violet….I’m gonna remind ya that you’re mine…”
Scene Two-A withering Violet…..

They sat in the courtroom silently. The judge cleared his throat and looked carefully over the papers in front of him. Over photographs, witness testimonies. His eyes never left the evidence in front of him. Violet Maxwell(Alicia Lukas) stared ahead nervously. Her hands rubbed together furiously as she fumbled, her bottom lip curled into her mouth. She felt a hand slide over hers as she looked sideways. Her lawyer gave her a small nod and Violet managed a tiny smile.
Her eyes betrayed her as she unfocused on him across the room to the opposing table. Past the older man and his co council sat Ronnie. Her former boyfriend. Father to her son’s Rory and Ryan. The man who for 5 years since she was at the tender age of 15 had slowly and increasingly made her life a living hell. He shot her a smile, his perfect cheekbones and bright blue eyes hiding the evil behind them.
His charm was a problem. His boyish good looks, his crocodile tears. They all made the Judge and others believe him. He hadn’t ever beaten her, he hadn’t raised a hand to her. Violet was a mentally disturbed liar. Unfit to raise her children. Or that’s what he had said. That’s what his lawyer had presented. Violet felt sick as she turned seeing her mother sitting behind Ronnie. Her loyalty misplaced and a betrayal of the mother daughter bond.
Her hands closed instead of fumbling together. The anger, frustration and pain boiled under her skin. The waiting was killing her. The silence in the courtroom except for a few small conversations in hushed whispers. Words float, the pain intensifies. Violet shakes as the court hushed again. The judge taking off his black wire framed glasses. He rubs his eyes with a small sigh as if the weight of the world had been dumped on his shoulders.
He looked at Violet with sadness in his body language and the deep southern drawl of his voice. “Miss Maxwell. I’m afraid by the evidence presented here that it would be in the children’s best interests if full time custody remained with Mr Calloway” Violet shook more, her jaw dropping. The adulation from the desk opposite feeling like a stab in the heart as her lawyer put an arm around her shoulder. The gavel dropped. Violet didn’t know if anything else was said.
Time passed, it felt like hours over the course of a few minutes. Violet got to her feet, as she turned her mother stood in front of her, as she opened her mouth Violet put her hand up and shook her head moving past. As she walked out of the room and out into the street she heard a voice. The familiarity causing tingles down her spine. It was Ronnie. “I told you this would happen….”
“Please don’t…”
Her voice was a hushed whisper. Ronnie just sneered, his upper lip curling into a sinister cruel smirk. She’d seen that look before, usually fists would fly, she’d feel the pain of each shot. Things were different now. She almost wished he would, just so she could fight back. Her transformation had begun six months prior when she left for Japan. “You ran out on your family, to go chase some bullshit dream. You deserve this.” Violet's hands clasped together, the fear melting away and an anger taking hold.
She turned to him, The smirk on his face twitching away for a moment as he realised this wasn’t the same woman he had struck freely in the face six months ago. This wasn’t little Violet Maxwell, a former Georgia Peach and teen mother. That he could push around. This woman was different. The frustration and emotional pain causing her to almost growl as Ronnie backed up. He just smiled and gave a slow sarcastic nod as Rory and Ryan ran up with their grandmother. Violet just shook her head and turned.
“Violet” Her mother’s voice rang out as she walked away, tears started to form as her heart sank to the depths of her stomach yet again. Her teeth ground together as she just managed a few words under her breathe.
“Violet is dead….”
Scene Three- The one where I win and you lose

Present Day
“Well, that was an enjoyable week off. Of course I say week off tongue in cheek cause I do have other responsibilities outside IWF, from other companies to my fiance to my sons and my step daughter. My life is a whirlwind rollercoaster and last week not having to travel for IWF or go to the pay per view was a welcomed break….atleast it was after I thought about it…”
Alicia turns around with a small smirk on her face, her long hair flowing down her body.
“At first I felt disrespected. Now don’t get me wrong, I understand that there’s only room for a certain amount of people on the card and matches. And everyone on there deserved their spot to take part in the biggest show of the year. But didn’t I earn that right?. For two months I have turned up and put my body on the line and the only two women to beat me one on one are Eternity and Shae. That’s it. And yeah they had an amazing match at Night of the Immortals for the Shieldmaiden, they really did and I am proud of Shae…”
“See I took Eternity to her limits, the match she and I had could be split only by tiny margins and I was so close I could taste it but on that night she was the better woman. Shae on the other hand beat me in ways that I never thought I would be and that girl is truly something special and she proved it last sunday night as she beat the woman many say is unbeatable. She was able to defeat the woman many people say is the best to ever lace up a pair of boots. A lofty expectation. This company has had some of the best female professional wrestlers on the planet come and go. But Eternity earned that right and really made the Shieldmaiden feel special”
“And I have a feeling Shae will do the same thing. But back to my point. I don’t want to sound arrogant here or that there’s sour grapes because some of me understands it. Despite the splash I have made here I’m still considered new…”
“And IWF rookie as it were….”
“My exploits around the world and in the US at home haven’t been documented and that’s fine, I get it, if it didn’t happen in IWF it doesn’t matter because you want to focus on the legacy of this great company and trust me...IWF is a great company. For the last four years you have all forged ahead through rain or shine to make the title and it’s championships mean something.”
She stops for a moment and takes a deep breath in closing her eyes before exhaling and opening them back up with another smirk.
“And I want to be a part of that legacy. I want to talk the same path of women like Eternity, Jessica Reed, Amber Richards, Alexis Caffery. I want to walk that road...and then I want to burn it down…I want to burn it all to the ground and pull the other Diamonds kicking and screaming up through the ashes. But not to destroy what came before but to honor it and look towards the future and the future of this division…”
“Is me….”
“Don’t get me wrong the rest of their roster has it’s place and they all deserve time in the spotlight but I am going to be the figurehead. When people say my name and see my face they will instantly think of this company and the Diamonds division. That is what I want, that is what I crave and I want to do it by facing the best of the best. And this Monday night in Glasgow I get to do just that. I get to step in the ring with four other women and prove my worth again...I get to show that I am the alpha female of the Imperial Wrestling Federation….”
“I’m sure some of you will have a problem with that. I know Sara Garcia will, won’t you Sara?. It’s nice of you to join us since we haven’t seen you in over a month. Some people probably would forget you exist if it wasn’t for whom your sister is. I mean Paige is the one we all care about, Paige is the one who really stepped up and became a champion. You just kind of stood in her shadow, smiling and waving at the crowd.”
“I have to wonder, does Paige let you hold the Diamonds championship and look in the mirror?. Does she let you play pretend that you’re the talented one?. I know that might be a little harsh but that is the perception. And perception is reality isn’t it?. The truth is that if a few small things went differently you would be the Diamonds champion. Cause I know after seeing you that you are just as talented as Paige but you just don’t get the same attention. You stepped back and let your sister have the spotlight, but when is it your time Sara?”
“This story between you two is almost biblical, hell it could be the wrestling equivalent of Cain and Able. I just have to wonder, which one of you will stick the knife in and twist it?. Which one of you will be Cain with the envy and greed?. My bet is you Sara, I mean come on you can’t honestly tell me that you looked at your sister basking in the spotlight with that title and not be jealous?. But I guess that won’t matter now will it?. Pandora beat her and is the new Diamonds champion and your sister is what?....”
“How long before she snaps wanting that title so bad and see’s you as a liability?. Or will she actually help you like you helped her and you try and climb the ladder to Pandora or Shae?. Now that Paige has had her time in the sun shouldn’t it be your turn?....or is Paige so addicted to that feeling that she will never help you like you helped her...face it Sara, as good and talented as you are, as much as you deserve it...you’ll never have it..cause when push comes to shove..”
“You’re just Paige’s bitch…”
Alicia spits the last word with venom as she chuckles and throws her blond hair back over her shoulder.
“Speaking of bitches how nice it is to be seeing Crystal Millar back in an IWF ring. The silver screen queen and woman with more name’s than brain cells. You’ve been trying so hard lately Crystal, scratching and clawing trying to regain that which you feel you lost. The thing is that we all know what you’ve lost and we all know what you need to get back and it’s nothing to do with athletic ability or skill….it’s what is in here…”
Alicia points to her heart with a smile.
“Your heart. Your passion. You’re supposed to be a fiery latina right?. Well come on cabron show us what kind of passion you have. You have the word “goddess” printed on your tights but I just don’t see it. Gods and Goddesses have passion for what they do and you have shown nothing. You turn up week in and week out making your bad movie puns about oscars and crap. I want to see and feel your passion Crystal. Why do you still do this?. Why do you get in the ring?. Is it because of a love for this business?. Is it boredom?. Or is it a fear of letting go of the spotlight?.”
“If you want to do this for a living Crystal and keep up with women like me and Shae and Pandora you need to get that love back, that passion. In short you need to stop being afraid. Cause that’s what I see when I look in your eyes, fear. Fear that if you do put in that love and that passion and you fail, that it’ll break you. And that’s sad Crystal….”
“Not as sad as Little Lizzy’s bad attitude.”
Alicia sighs and clicks her tongue with a disappointed look.
“The whining and crying that comes from your mouth Lizzy is damn near unbearable. Every time you get booked for a match all I hear about is how IWF is mistreating you and how you’re treated better outside this company and you’re a Dalmon and BLAH BLAH BLAH”
Alicia blows a raspberry and rolls her eyes.
“If you like it so much in other company’s outside this one then stay there and stop getting pissy like a prom virgin who got left in the back seat of a 69 chevy, The biggest disappointment about your selfish bullshit attitude aside from the obvious fact that it’s blatant lies is that you are trying to get from A to B without earning a goddamn thing. You’re a talented girl, athletic and fast. But your ability means nothing if you’re not prepared to put that hard work in.”
“I put the hard work in, every single time I’m booked I bring it, I get in the ring, I shut my mouth and I do my job. Win or lose afterwards I respect the person who has had the balls to step in that ring with me and I congratulate them, because that is what warriors do but you?. You think everything should be handed to you on a silver platter because of your last name. Here’s a story for you. My father’s last name is Maxwell, that was my birthname and he is a legend in wrestling. Mainly outside the united states…”
“I went to Japan and took my mother’s last name and my middle name as a stage name. The first few places I found there knew I was Jason Maxwell’s baby girl and they straight away wanted me there to train but they just wanted the name they didn’t want me to be trained. So I changed my name. Unlike you I want to be recognised for what I do and how I do it, not because of my last name and what I think I should be owed…”
“Just like Astrid Hall…”
Alicia chuckles and rolls her eyes.
“It really is one step forward two steps back with you Astrid. I keep hearing from you that you want to learn and get better and all this other great stuff that I respect you for but then, well then you just kind of fall back into old habits. “I was unstoppable in developmental”....really?...REALLY?...look Astrid, most of us have come to IWF from different places, some major companies and some indy ones but we all came from somewhere...and no one really gives a shit…”
“Does the rest of the Diamonds division need to know that I’m a champion right now in another company?...no…”
“Does IWF need to know that I held a title in a company for almost a year?....No…”
“So tell me why should any of us care about the “development” title you held or that you destroyed all those women down there who haven’t even been called up here because they haven’t been deemed good enough?. No one here cares about what I’ve done outside here so why should they care about you?. Start focusing on your career here and now and what you can do or have done.”
“They are going to focus on the fact I have been running rough shot over the division week in and week out. They focus on the fact I took Eternity to her damn limits. You seem to have a problem with assumptions and what you’re capable of. Hell Astrid you’re as big as a goddamn redwood and your head is twice as hard. You are strong, powerful, skilled and have a bona-fide legend in your back pocket training you so I ask again...WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING WRONG WITH YOU?”
“I know what it is….”
“I can see it a mile off. Your body is in the Imperial Wrestling Federation but your mind is still STILL stuck back in that crappy little development mode. You think because you were the biggest baddest down there that you will be the biggest baddest here right? A few weeks back Astrid you stepped in the ring with Pandora Freeman, the woman who earned the right to face Paige Garcia and then beat her at Night of the Immortals and you put in a hell of an effort, your mind was in tune with your body and you showed us all that when focused you can stand up to the best of the best and this week in Glasgow you get to prove it again…”
“Leave the development mind at home and focus on what we are doing here and now in the greatest women’s division in the world. I love competition and I love the rush of facing women I know are amazing...and you all need to step up and realise that. Sara needs to step out of her sisters shadow, Crystal needs to let go of her fear, Lizzy needs to let go of her ego and Astrid needs to let go of the past and me?.....I just need to let go of my own mistakes and focus back on what I can do….and what I’m capable of….”
