We open up on the merry sounds of a dimly lit Irish Bar, deep in the country. The alcohol is flowing, and the band are playing a merry jig, causing a fair amount of the patrons to rise to their feet, amongst them stands out a very blue haired lady. IWF Diamonds Champion, Pandora Freeman, three sheets to the wind, and very much enjoying the music. However, it is not her that we’re focusing on, as she appears to join her friends for another drink. The band pauses their music for a moment, the frontman stepping up to speak.
“Ladies and gents, we’ve got a real gift for ya here, an old friend of ours has popped in for a quick session and we figured we’d allow him the chance to play ya’s all a quick song…”
The room goes a little quiet before a polite applause fills the room, over the appluse Pandora can be heard shouting;
“YOU! ASTRID! BIG GIRL! DANCE FLOOR WITH ME! I WANT TO SEE IT HAPPEN!”
Just as the man who stepped out, begun to strike up a chord on his acoustic guitar, paying the champion no mind, and almost drifting off to a world of his own, completely ignoring the crowd, as he filled the room with a melancholy acoustic tune.
“I create to destroy at hand, this path i made in the sand. And I'm off to the deepest depths, To forfeit my place on this land. The tide pulls you into me, as one I drift in the sea. The feeling is freeeeee -Yet! You'll find yourself drifting with meeeee!”
As the man, Spike Kane, strums his guitar, and sings his heart out, he’s completely unaware that on the makeshift dancefloor, Pandora Freeman is completely taken away by the music.
“Don't hold your breath for long, if the undertows getting too strong. There's no reason for you to come along.”
The man who spends his professional time bloodying his hands and breaking his enemies sings with his eyes closed as the crowd almost leans in. Astrid however, has stopped dancing, and stands - not quite staring, but with a state of shock on her face. Shea, who was about to join the two has stopped dead in her tracks.
“The horizon is just ahead, the end of the dry lives we've led."
Spike opens his eyes and sees Pandora swaying almost right in front of him. He blinks a few times, believing his mind to be playing tricks on him, as the song is clearly where his mind is.
“You know what I think of them, you sutured my wounds when they bled. So what's to become of us? The answer has yet to be seen. As fate puts us side by side, you'll find yourself drifting with me….”
Spike idly strums the chorus which the locals casually sing along for him, they’re a good sport like that. Spike’s eyes focus on Pandora as the small crowd sing “don’t hold your breath” and he suddenly stops.
Spike Kane: Pan!?
The crowd immediately stop singing and humming along, the one guy who had begun playing a backing track on his own guitar stops playing too, with a guilty look on his face. The crowd grow eerily quiet as Spike drops his guitar and steps down off the small stage and up to Pandora who tilts her head at Spike with a huge smile on her face, and pokes him in his chest.
Pandora Freeman: Aww...you made the beautiful go away!
Spike Kane: Are you drunk!?
He looks around, and locks eyes with Astrid Hall, who, in an almost defence mechanism, makes herself stand tall.
Spike Kane: Is she drunk?
Pandora Freeman: Jussss a lil bit honey bun.
Spike closes his eyes and pulls Pandora into him, hugging her close, without a second thought, Pandora begins to try and sway him. In the background, Shea O’Hara, is almost slinking back towards her seat and away from the confrontation. It takes Spike a long time to open his eyes.
Spike Kane: I’m not angry Pan…..I’m not….I’m just disappointed.
