This Sunday night is the IWF network exclusive Bloody Assizes. The show is top heavy in huge match ups from the first time meeting of Dre Cutler and Jason Sandman to the singles match between Paige Garcia and Alexis Caffrey to the huge tag team match between four of the top names in the company, Spike Kane and Roberto Verona versus Cable Arcane and Mike Laszlo.
But the main event is just that as two long time friends face off for the most coveted prize in the industry.
Andrew Jacobsen, the man who toppled Cable Arcane to win his first Imperial Championship will be defending his newlywon prize against long time friend, Jake "The Ace" Conway.
Jake Comnway's journey to the top of IWF has been a long one. He is one of the few NCW main event carry overs to never win the Imperial Championship. One year ago Jake nearly ended the reign of Roberto Verona but in the end he walked away the winner of the feud but not the Imperial Champion.
In the mean time Andrew Jacobsen has seen a meteoric rise through the rankings, winning the Roulette and going on to defeat the one and only two time Imperial Champion in the history of IWF, Cable Arcane. Andrew Jacobsen has gone from mid card main stay to main event seemingly over night. However in the world of professional wrestling anything is possible. Andrew Jacobsen could be the main event today and show opener tomorrow. His first title defense will either cement his legacy as the future of the company or as a man who just got lucky.
It's almost poetic that Andrew's first title defense is against a man he has shared the road with, shared homes with, shared personal live events with. The friendship of Andrew Jacobsen and Jake Conway is no secret. So the question becomes will Andrew cement himself as the future over his friends life long dreams or will Jake Conway finally conquer the mountain so close to home and stand tall as the new Imperial Champion?
Regardless of the outcome this writer is incredibly excited to see two good friends go to battle over the top prize in the industry in what will easily be a match of the year candidate.
